Other Export options

Not everything should be a link. When a number needs to sit in a deck, pull the same data out as a PDF or a spreadsheet instead.

Other Export options

A report link is the best way to share a live view, but it isn't always what you need. Sometimes the deck needs a fixed page, and sometimes you want the raw numbers in a spreadsheet so you can pivot them yourself. Socialpruf has three flat-file exports for exactly that: a PDF of any report, a CSV of your posts, and a full export of any campaign.

Downloading a report as a PDF

Every report can be saved as a PDF. There are two places to do it:

  • From Manage - open the Reports tab, click into a report, and use the button in the bottom right.
  • From the report itself - the download icon in the report header. This one matters more than it sounds: it means the people you send a link to can save their own copy without needing a Socialpruf account.

The PDF is a rendered snapshot of the report as it's configured: the KPI cards you chose, your charts, and your content or table view, laid out on the page with your logo and website on it. Table-view reports fit up to eight metric columns across the page, so if your table is wider than that, trim the KPIs down to the ones that matter before you export.

The important difference from the link: a PDF is frozen at the moment you download it. The link keeps updating on the hour; the PDF is the number as of today. That's what makes it right for board decks, monthly archives, and email attachments, where you want the record to stay put.

Exporting posts to CSV

When you want to work the numbers yourself, export a CSV. You can start one from two places:

  • The Overview page - open the menu in the top right, where you'd normally create a report, and click Export CSV.
  • The Explore page - in Table View, select the posts you want (or use Select All) and click Export in the selection bar.

Either way you get one row per post, with the identifying columns you'd expect; platform, post type, account, title and description, the post URL, thumbnail, posted date, follower count, collaborators, mentions, campaigns, tags, whether the post has since been deleted, and when Socialpruf last refreshed it, followed by the metrics.

Your view decides the columns

The export follows whatever you were looking at. Your filters and date range carry over, and the metric columns match the view you exported from; in Table View you get the columns you have visible, and outside it you get every per-post stat plus your custom KPIs. If you exported while comparing, an extra column tells you which side of the comparison each row came from.

The file is named for you from the filters and dates you had applied, so a folder of exports stays readable months later. Metrics a platform doesn't report, like shares on Instagram, come through blank rather than as a zero, so you never mistake “not measured” for “measured as none.”

Exporting a campaign

Campaigns have their own one-click export. Go to Manage Campaigns, click into the campaign, and click Export in the footer.

You'll get every post in that campaign, whether you tagged it by hand or a dynamic rule pulled it in, with the full set of per-post metrics and your custom KPIs. The columns come out in the same order as your dashboard KPIs, and the file is named after the campaign. It's the fastest way to hand a client the complete backup behind a campaign's headline numbers.

Which one to use: send the link when the numbers should stay live, attach the PDF when the numbers need to stop moving, and pull the CSV when someone is going to do their own math on top of yours.
