When we became licensed foster parents in 2020, we didn’t know what to expect. We just knew that there was a huge need with 400,000 kids in the US alone without a permanent home and we wanted to help.

When we received the calls for Kenna and Addison, we never knew they would permanently become a part of our family, but we are so grateful they did.

We are so proud of our two girls and how far they’ve come over the last four years.

We are blown away by the things they do every day. The way they put on a show for us with their dances, the faces they make and their sense of humor. They also challenge us as parents, but they help make us better parents.

And they’ve inspired us to help grow Bananas Foster and help foster kids all over the world. Like we always say with our teams, it’s all about focusing on one fan at a time. We are reminded of this every morning when our two girls wake up and every night when we put them to bed.

We can all make a difference, one child at a time.

Society overvalues romantic relationships and undervalues friendship says @simonsinek

When someone stays in a 16-year unhealthy relationship that they admit should have lasted one year, society says they “did it right.”

Someone who’s happy, has great friends, but hasn’t married, people ask “What’s wrong with you?”

Why do we diagnose people as having “commitment issues” when they leave relationships that aren’t working, but praise those who stay in situations that make them unhappy?

Maybe the real issue isn’t individual failure. Maybe it’s societal priorities that need examining.

What relationships actually bring you joy?

The value of human is going up because the value of machine is low says @simonsinek

Assembly line products are perfect and not special. Your Pottery Barn mug is flawless in every way, but a Japanese ceramic mug made by hand—with imperfect sides and wonky glaze—is more beautiful.

It’s more beautiful because it’s human. Because it’s imperfect.

We’re starting to crave imperfect, handmade, hand-drawn, hand-conceived, handwritten. We want effort because effort has value.

In a world of algorithmic perfection, human flaws become features.

Our inconsistencies, our struggles, our unique perspectives—these aren’t bugs to fix.

They’re what make us irreplaceable.

In your 20s, you have to have adventure. You have to have fun, says @robertgreene

You’re only young once — it’s the most incredible part of your life, but you need to have a direction — heading towards something you love that excites you.

By the time you’re 30, it’s all going to come together.

You’ll create something interesting that is you because you spent your 20s learning skills while having adventures.

Don’t be so single-track — you won’t discover what you’re good at.

The diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder requires five of nine symptoms...

The high points include grandiosity, arrogance, entitlement, living in a fantasy world of perfect love stories, perfect life, grand business plans, selfishness and egocentricity — entire self-focus with little regard for the needs and wants of other people.

The needs of the self are put ahead of the needs of all other people around them.

This is the distinguishing characteristic that makes it really toxic: “I am more important than you.”

And not only am I more important than you, your needs don’t matter.

It’s not just confidence or ambition — it’s the complete dismissal of others’ humanity in service of the self.

The fantasy world they live in requires everyone else to be supporting characters in their story.

The five signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) according to @doctorramani

1. Low empathy
2. Pathological selfishness
3. Excessive need for admiration and validation
4. Grandiosity circumplex
5. Poorly regulated emotion (especially anger)

“Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse where a person’s reality, memory, perceptions, and experiences are denied — and then the person is told they’re somehow lacking or there’s something wrong with them…”

The manipulation isn’t just about the lie — it’s about making you doubt yourself completely.
