When we became licensed foster parents in 2020, we didn’t know what to expect. We just knew that there was a huge need with 400,000 kids in the US alone without a permanent home and we wanted to help. When we received the calls for Kenna and Addison, we never knew they would permanently become a part of our family, but we are so grateful they did. We are so proud of our two girls and how far they’ve come over the last four years. We are blown away by the things they do every day. The way they put on a show for us with their dances, the faces they make and their sense of humor. They also challenge us as parents, but they help make us better parents. And they’ve inspired us to help grow Bananas Foster and help foster kids all over the world. Like we always say with our teams, it’s all about focusing on one fan at a time. We are reminded of this every morning when our two girls wake up and every night when we put them to bed. We can all make a difference, one child at a time.

Years ago my wife and I went to see a therapist. She asked me and my wife the one question neither of us wanted to answer. “You guys want to do the work together, or Mike, do you want to do it with another partner? Lisa, do you want to do it with another partner?” The heaviest question isn’t “what’s wrong with us.” It’s whether you’re still willing to choose each other, and hearing “I don’t want to do this shit with anyone else” is what gave them a chance. #psychology #marriage #relationships

If your wife’s exhausted by 9pm and you’re wide awake, that’s not attitude, that’s chemistry. “Her melatonin hits a first wave peak about 9, second one’s at 11. Yours is at 10 and 12. There’s about an hour difference.” Same day, different internal clocks. What looks like her being “off” is just her circadian rhythm running on its own schedule, and no amount of relationship advice fixes a timing mismatch you didn’t know existed. #psychology #mindset #mastery
