I know y’all didn’t think I was just gonna tease y’all with that video on my story yesterday and leave you hanging 👀 Y’all had my DMs in a chokehold about this recipe, so this video better get good engagement! As promised, here it is. [SAVE & SHARE this recipe] I got inspired by a TikTok recipe from @justshanae, and you know I had to put my own little spin on it. INGREDIENTS: • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs • Seasonings: Garlic + allspice blend, poultry seasoning, chipotle garlic powder, paprika, white pepper, garlic & herb blend (it doesn’t have to be these exact ones- season your chicken how you season your chicken!) • 1 cup chopped tricolored bell peppers (red, yellow, green) • ½ white onion (chopped) • Another ½ cup of sliced peppers & onions (set aside for later) • Olive oil • Worcestershire sauce (just a dash) • 2 cups jasmine rice (or basmati) • 4 cups chicken stock • 2 tbsp tomato paste • 3 tbsp butter • Drizzle of honey or hot honey (for finishing) DIRECTIONS: 1. Dice and slice your peppers & onions- some for the marinade, some for later. 2. Season your chicken thoroughly and mix in your diced peppers + onion, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Let it marinate while your pan heats up. 3. In a hot cast iron skillet, add olive oil and sear the chicken on both sides until beautifully browned (about 5–6 mins per side). It doesn’t have to be fully cooked, it’ll finish in the oven. 4. Remove the chicken and keep all those flavorful bits in the pan. 5. Add in the leftover marinade veggies, turn the heat to low, and deglaze the pan with a splash of chicken stock. 6. Add in the rice, tomato paste, sliced onions/peppers (the ones you saved), and butter. Mix it all up. 7. Pour in the rest of the chicken stock (4 cups total). Stir again. 8. Nestle the chicken thighs back into the pan. Cover tightly with foil and a lid. 9. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes. 10. Remove foil/lid and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes to let the top crisp up. 11. Drizzle with honey or hot honey when it’s fresh out of the oven. Serve it hot and just wait for the praise to roll in 😮‍💨 Tag me if you make it!!

It’s definitely my signature look 💁🏽‍♀️ But for the past couple of years, I’ve been dealing with thinning around my edges, and it’s one of those insecurities I’ve been dealing with quietly for some time now. I couldn’t tell you if it was hormones, stress, or tension from all the braids I used to wear. All I know is that it is frustrating as hell trying everything under the sun and not seeing any real progress. This coconut black bean stew stays in rotation in my kitchen both on and off the fast because it’s THAT good. [save & share this recipe] And just an FYI, you don’t need to be on the Daniel Fast to benefit from a body detox/ plant-based reset. 21 days of eliminating animal products, processed foods, sugar, and alcohol from your diet can do wonders for your body whether you’re fasting or not. Coconut Black Bean Stew INGREDIENTS (yields 4-6) 2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained 1 sweet potato, cubed 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1/2 red onion, chopped 1 small green pepper 2 cups vegetable broth 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped 1 cup coconut milk 1 tbsp coconut oil 2 tsp cumin 1 tsp allspice 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp onion powder 2 tsp complete seasoning 1/4 tsp smoked paprika Salt & pepper to taste DIRECTIONS In a large pot over medium heat, add in coconut oil, and sauté onion and green pepper for 2-3 minutes or until onions become translucent. Add in garlic and cook for another minute until garlic becomes fragrant. Add in vegetable broth, sweet potato, green pepper, ginger, cumin, oregano, onion powder, complete seasoning, and smoke paprika and cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add beans and coconut milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a low simmer and cook for about 15-17 minutes. Add in cilantro and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, serve over a bed of brown rice and enjoy!

When I first signed Sanai up for dance camp four years ago, it was honestly just an alternative to aftercare. I wanted to find something active and fun for her to do after school that’s not just sitting in a classroom watching movies until I get off work. She’s been in dance camp all these years doing fun stuff like recitals, parades, & cute performances—but nothing super rigorous or competitive. So, when she came to me a couple weeks ago and said, “Mommy, I want to try out for the competition dance team,” I was like, oh… you serious serious? I had to remind her that this was next-level. It’s a bigger commitment, way more discipline, way more work. And she said, “I don’t care what it takes, I’m ready.” They had to choreograph a one-minute solo for the audition, and when she asked me to help pick a song, I immediately thought of Just Fine by Mary J. Blige—a song I danced to when I was a competition dancer. Played it for her and she was like, “Yesss mommy this is perfect!” She choreographed the whole thing in TWO days and practiced non-stop to get it right. This is the result. Just two days of work. I’m so proud of her for putting herself out there and going for it. I just know this next level is going to grow her in ways we can’t even imagine. I wanted to find something active and fun for her to do after school that’s not just sitting in a classroom watching movies until I get off work. I’ve lost just over 23 pounds in the last eight months and I look and feel better than I have in almost 10 years. This caption is gonna be long, but read it. I’m sorry to break it to you, but there is no magic trick. At the end of the day, it comes down to consistency and discipline. I don’t do well with extremes, so I didn’t crash diet. I didn’t take GLP 1s. I didn’t use weight loss supplements. I made this lifestyle shift: • Mindful eating • Strength training 3x a week • Cardio 5x a week • Limiting alcohol Mindful eating was the biggest (and hardest) change for me. For two months, I ate in a strict calorie deficit- 1500 calories a day. Then a slight deficit. Now I eat at maintenance. I learned to understand my macros and what I was actually putting into my body. Y’all know how much I love food. If I could, I would eat sushi every day 😂 And while I still love good food, I had to accept that not every meal is gonna be an experience. FOOD IS FUEL. Sometimes, meals are gonna be boring. And I had to be okay with that. Understanding protein, carbs, and fats changed everything for me. Once you understand macros, you stop guessing. This will help you develop a healthier relationship with food, which is so key. Strength training with @the.royalcourt 3x week. And no, it will not make you “bulky”. It builds muscle, improves body composition, and helps you lose fat while keeping your shape. My back looks better than it ever has and my arms are finally making progress. Cardio 5x a week. Sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 45, sometimes an hour. And even on lighter days, I move my body. A walk. A stretch. Pilates. Something. And alcohol. This is the one 😂 I haven’t cut it out completely, but I significantly cut back. I even went 30 days without it last September and again for this year’s Daniel Fast and saw my body transform. I still enjoy it occasionally, but I’m much more intentional now. I don’t do a lot of sugary cocktails and try to save the lemon drops for special occasions lol. So that’s it. Your health journey is your journey. I’m just here to share mine. And honestly, the most drastic thing I did was go alcohol-free for two months (back in September and again in January). But outside of that, my approach was simple: Calorie deficit. Cardio. Strength training. That’s the magic combo. Unless you have an underlying medical condition, this combo WILL work. Not maybe. Not possibly. This is the method that has worked forever. And if I had to credit one thing for how my body looks right now, it would be strength training. It taught me the difference between weight loss and fat loss. It taught me that strong is sexy. It taught me that preserving muscle matters just as much as losing fat. If you’re on a weight loss journey, just know that GLP-1s may be an option, but sustainable weight loss is absolutely possible without it. Now… whether you strength train, you’re on a GLP-1, you do both, or you’re just trying to figure it out - meet me in the comments.
