My 8 year old daughter saw a nasty comment someone left about me. 💔
What really got me was her reaction when I told her I’d spent most of my life saying worse things to myself. 😭

She couldn’t understand it because she loves who she is! - I don’t want that to change. 😭

I want her to know she is always enough no matter what others think & her own opinion of herself is most important. 

Maybe part of healing is becoming the woman you needed when you were younger, so your daughter doesn’t have to unlearn the same things you do. ♥️

I spent years telling myself exercise should only be about health. 
Wanting to feel strong was acceptable but wanting to look good wasn’t.

Now I see it differently.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting better health, more energy, more confidence, & feeling good in your own skin.

It only becomes a problem when you’re willing to sacrifice your health to achieve it.

I thought spending time on my hair, makeup or clothes was shallow.

Looking back, I think I’d just stopped seeing myself as worth the effort.

Now I believe taking that time is actually a way of telling yourself: 

“I matter too.”

💙 You can exercise because it helps your mental health. 
💙 You can exercise because it makes you stronger. 
💙 You can exercise because you like how it makes you look. (I just don’t believe you should ever sacrifice your health to achieve this though). 

- Those things can all exist at the same time.

I like makeup. 
I like doing my hair. 
I like putting effort into my appearance. 
…Not because it makes me more worthy, but because it’s fun. 

My worth stays the same whether I’m dressed up, drenched in sweat with bulging forehead veins after a workout 🤣 …or sitting at home in my PJs.

I can care about feeling strong, looking good, being healthy, being a mum, building a business, healing, growing, struggling, learning…& still not be defined by any one of those things. 

We’re allowed to be multi-faceted. 

Your body doesn’t define your worth. 
Your habits don’t define your worth. 
Your appearance doesn’t define your worth. They’re just parts of you. 
Not proof of WHO you are.

I used to think loving my body meant loving how it looked…..Now I know it’s so much deeper than that.

My body carried my children, grew them, birthed them & still shows evidence of that.

I don’t love my body despite those changes.

I love it BECAUSE of them.

Some days my belly is flat & other days it’s boated…which sucks because it’s uncomfortable…but it happens & I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t happen to me.

From your 30s, muscle can decline if you don’t train it.
That affects your metabolism, insulin sensitivity, & how your body stores fat over time.

When muscle drops:
• Fat loss can feel harder
• Your body looks less “toned”
• Strength & energy decline

If you want a defined, capable body that ages well - muscle matters! 💪🏼

Train for strength, not just to get smaller. 😉

Mums grieving their old life aren’t ungrateful or selfish…
 
I miss parts of my old life & it’s not because I don’t love being a mum… I love it & I love my kids more than anything.

But sometimes I miss the freedom, the quiet, the space to think… & version of me who didn’t feel pulled in 100 directions all the time.

Motherhood can be beautiful & hard at the same time.

You can be deeply grateful for your children & still grieve parts of yourself that feel like they disappeared somewhere along the way.

That doesn’t make you ungrateful.
