I used to think the point of entrepreneurship was to win

Then I met @jamesjbeshara (he founded @magicmind, one of the leading lines of mental performance products designed to enhance focus, energy, and cognitive function.)

He built a company valued at $400M, sold it in a fire sale, and then disappeared into YouTube rabbit holes, eastern philosophy, and the realization that he’d been building his life around a worldview he never consciously chose.

So he came on my podcast this week and shared the questions that helped him rebuild:
• what if your ambition is just masked insecurity?
• what do you actually want? peace, prosperity, or both?
• what is the world quietly asking of you that you’re ignoring?
• and can you build a massive, meaningful career without losing your mind?

This was one of the most personal, honest, and paradigm-shifting conversations I’ve had on the show.

If you’re someone who’s trying to do something big and stay deeply grounded at the same time, CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

A few months ago, I made a list of 300 things to do before I die. Then I turned it into a four-foot poster and hung it in my house.

At first, it just felt like a fun creative project. But it quickly became something much bigger. The list gave me something to reach for on the hard days. It gave me direction when I felt lost and it made me excited about the future again.

I walk past it every day, and every day, I feel this subtle reminder of “Oh yeah… I’m building a really dope life.”

That’s why I recorded my first-ever solo episode of The Optimist this week. To share the full story:

→ How a random coaching assignment turned into the most meaningful thing I’ve done in years
→ Why 300 is the magic number (not 10, not 100)
→ The wild sniper rifle story that never would’ve happened if I hadn’t said it out loud
→ And why I believe everyone should build a list like this

This episode is personal. It’s raw. And honestly, it’s a love letter to anyone who’s ready to live more intentionally, even when life gets hard.

It's now live on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple (just search for The Optimist). Until then, I hope this clip gives you something to think about. And if you’ve already started making your list… I’d love to see it.

PS: The first 5 people who DM me their list of 300 things will receive a free 4 foot poster in the mail. My treat ;)

women - stop cutting men off in conversation ⁣
⁣
I grew up in a cultural dynamic where it was normal to cut a man off mid sentence or thought, and we lose out on a lot of intel and wisdom and connection when we don’t actively stop this habit. it’s also just rude lol. ⁣
⁣
this one tactic changed my life, and if you tend to cut men off or really anyone off in conversation, it’s useful. ⁣
⁣
thanks for having me on the @theoptimist.podcast @jakefromthursday. full episode is up on youtube and wherever podcasts are available. link in stories.

The gift of a feminine will provoke a man to heal whats keeping him from being in his heart & living in his potential as a man

with the capacity to support her full expression leaving her feeling inspired by his leadership and loving him in a way that will support him in fulfilling his purpose as a man

in doing so it takes for him to be living in his potential as the Man who is willing to face himself & heal whats keeping him from being in his power.

Through healing the wounded inner boy who is still living from the ego and the fear of being inadequate, unworthy or the fear of being alone.

when a man overcomes the little boy within, he is faced with his full potential no longer unconsciously sabotaging & contaminating his mission, purpose & relationship.

I used to roll my eyes at bucket lists.

Then I wrote 300 things I want to do before I die. Printed them on a 4-foot poster. Hung it in my house.

That poster changed everything.

It’s not about crossing things off. It’s about remembering what matters.

Big dreams. Tiny moments. Soul work. A reminder, every day, that I’m building a life worth re-reading.

This week on The Optimist, I shared the full story (my first-ever solo episode).

Have you ever made a list like this?
You should. Start with 10. Then keep going. 300 is the minimum.

What if instead of spending $400k on college, you gave your kid $200k to:⁣
⁣
• Year 1: $50k to backpack the world, get uncomfortable, learn languages, be vulnerable⁣
• Year 2: $150k seed capital to start and run their own company for a full year⁣
⁣
After touching operations, finance, marketing, HR, legal, customer service... they'd actually know what they're drawn to.⁣
⁣
Then they can either keep building or go to college informed about what they actually want to do.⁣
⁣
Radical? Maybe. But when do we actually give people a chance to figure out what they care about?

The boy will want her to tend to his limited emotional capacity while needing her to feel a certain way for him to be good within himself

The man will constantly be open to ways he can expand his nervous systems capacity to hold and see his overwhelm as a 12/10 capacity and initiation

IMPORTANT NOTE👇🏼

This does not mean a woman can just walk over a man, disrespect his capacity and expect him to drop everything at any time

This does not mean a woman can be emotionally abusive and he must stand there and take it

It’s just as important that a woman is responsible for her own emotional experience also and her wounded inner girl that comes out,

that’s not a man’s responsibility.

Sometimes the initiation for a man can also be saying no and owning his boundaries with a woman who can’t respect him for the man he is.

Let me know your thoughts

Jiu jitsu isn't just a sport. It's a kinship system.⁣
⁣
When you're learning lethal technology - how to break and kill other humans - trust becomes mandatory. Safety becomes sacred. Honor becomes everything.⁣
⁣
That's why jiu jitsu professors call it "domestication" when a white belt walks in. It's an initiation process. They want to see what you do under stress. They regulate. They correct.⁣
⁣
Roll too hard? Now you roll with Bruno. And you learn real quick.⁣
⁣
Jiu jitsu is exploding right now because it's one of the few places men go and think: "Oh. This is what I've been missing."⁣
⁣
It's like seeing for the first time. Your soul works for the first time.⁣
⁣
Modern masculinity needs modern initiation.

We don’t realize how quickly time passes. Not until a whole year disappears behind us. Or until someone we love is gone. Or until we look up and wonder where it all went.

This list is what keeps me going.

𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗲.

Not to check boxes, but to stay awake to the beauty of being alive. To build a life I’m proud of.

This week, I shared the full story in my first solo episode of The Optimist. Why I made the list, how it’s changed me, and why I think you should make one, too.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or numb or like time is moving too fast, start writing your list.

Your future self will thank you.

Are you too soft?

This week I’m sitting down with @alvaronunez. He’s done what most people would call impossible:

- 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days.
- A 6-day ultra in the Sahara Desert with a 35-pound vest.
- A 3,000-mile bike race across America.
- Ironman and Ultraman World Championships.

But beneath the superhuman résumé is a much deeper story: one of heartbreak, vulnerability, mental health battles, and the raw conversations he had with himself in total darkness.

In this episode of *The Optimist*, we talk about:

- Why doing “impossible” things can’t just be about validation.
- How to channel pain, anger, and heartbreak into fuel.
- The Japanese concept of **Misogi** and why one impossible challenge a year can change your life.
- What it means to be a man today and why listening might be the hardest challenge of all.

Dropping tomorrow 👀

Reconsider the #bachelorparty. If you could get the most instructive men in your lives around you, how would you savor that? How could you encourage each other? What would fill all respective cups and send you into your next chapter full sail? This was it for me, and I’m eternally grateful. A year later, all these guys from all these eras of my life are still on a hearty text thread. How cool is that?!

@benjamin.forest.bliss spent 25 years in the Air Force, rose to Lieutenant Colonel, and hit rock bottom.

On Veterans Day, he walked into a hospital and told the nurse, “I want to die.”

That moment changed everything.

He quit his job. He left the military. And in one heroic dose of psilocybin, he found something he never thought he’d feel again…peace.

In this conversation, Ben and I dive deep into psychedelics, masculinity, healing, and the emotional constipation that keeps so many men stuck.

This isn’t a drug story. It’s a story about awakening, and what happens when men finally face themselves.

I often wonder if it’s really possible to have it all: a successful career, staying fit, and being truly present for the people who matter most.

@dannycortenraede is someone I deeply respect for proving it’s possible. He’s built thriving businesses, prioritizes his health, and is intentional about creating quality time and meaningful connections with his family and in his personal life.

It’s something I’m working on every day myself; finding the right balance between ambition and what matters most.

What helps you balance your goals with your personal life and family? I’d love to hear your thoughts below.

Until a man heals the little boy within or gains the strengths he was suppose to develop along the way in childhood

he will stay stuck at the level of emotional maturity, thinking, behaving & consciousness of a boy..

Leaving him disconnected from the safe, calm, grounded Man that has the emotional maturity & capacity in relationships and his work..

You get to be the safe space she needed as a girl that completely transforms her relationship with the masculine

You get to be the one who inspires her full feminine expression through your depth, leadership & connection to Self

You get to create the safety for her to explore her deepest passions & expression of herself

Instead of constantly being insecure, reactive or shut down where she is met with inconsistency & and lack of trust in your ability to support her..

when a man heals the little boy within who needs a woman to feel good

or he is unconsciously in relationship to fulfil is wounded unmet needs from childhood to feel secure within himself,

he then develops this consistency, grounding & capacity.

For those men who are ready, willing and committed to doing the deep inner work
