Our core is our foundation, & we need it STRONG. 

Movements like Copenhagens & Farmer marches are always in the rotation for the multiple benefits (core, hip, inner thigh & grip strength) but I’ve been adding in some anti rotational movements like bear pull through & really working on keeping my hips from swaying while my arms move. 

Here’s the workout again: 

Copenhagen plank w/ knee drive: 8–12 each side
Farmer marches: 20–30 marches
Bear pull-through: 8–12 each side
Hanging leg raises: 6–10 slow reps

such a blessing to have ran @avlmarathon half & spent this trip alongside some intelligent, talented and creative people 🤍 we had the chance to learn so much about eachother, ourselves & of course - beautiful Asheville. So I stopped being hardheaded & got a vest 🫣…
& I loved it lol - trying to get used to it though! 

Sometimes, the night before my long runs I forget that I actually run all the time & then surprise myself when I complete the run 😆 strange but ok! 

Ego was thrown out the window for this one- vest was on, pace was slower, & I fueled as much as I needed to. All of these things allowed me to have a successful run & I am so happy about it! 
Definitely got lonely & a little discouraged because I was out there alone, but that’s life! & sometimes the only pep talk we need is from ourselves 🤜🤛

- Vest is the @on Ultra vest pro (I got an xs) - VERY comfortable, no chafe & it felt like I just had another shirt on. As someone who hates running with alot of gear, this vest was solidddd.
- My shoes are cloudmonster 2’s.. I couldn’t have been more grateful that I chose these for this run 😭 needed the support once I got past 13. 
- Bandana is from Amazon, I recently bought XL ones to soak up my sweat & they tie so much better than regular ones!

So I stopped being hardheaded & got a vest 🫣… & I loved it lol - trying to get used to it though! I heard you wanna go all in with the run thing but also want to keep lifting… I got you! 🙂‍↕️

(This is my current split btw 😆) & it’s what I have found works best for me & is the least overwhelming - just hitting the basics that help me hit my goals. 
Speed (getting there lol), endurance, and time on feet! All while keeping the gains & lifting w intention. 

My advice: keep it simple. 3 runs, 3 lifts, recovery in between and dedicated rest day(s). Make your runs count! Some speed, an easy, & a long one. Initially, 3 runs / week might sound like a lot to some of yall, but the #1 way to get better at running - is to run more! Do what you can & give yourself grace. YOU GOT IT 🐊

5 miles in the heat means I complained the whole time & wanted to finish at the gym by mile 3 🥲 BUT we got it done. This run made me think of the first time I ran 5 miles (3 years ago) & how that distance seemed SO unrealistic for me. With consistency & a lot of hard work, (as someone who has NEVER been good at running), this was just another run, I’ve done this distance SO many times since then. This is just the materials to look for & what spots you should focus on covering. If you guys would like specifics that I use - I can do that too! 
I didn’t include specific gear because realistically, you can go out there in sneakers and a winter coat if you really wanted to - and I don’t want “not having the right gear” to stop anyone from picking up running. Of course, certain gear makes it more comfortable, but it isn’t always necessary to start. 
One of the greatest things about running is what it can do for your mind. Personally, running has carried me through the tough seasons & I want y’all to be out there chasing endorphins & experiencing that too!! Even if you don’t have spikes or a fancy coat 🫵
