In a night packed with emotion, Paul Skenes showed none (as usual) until the result was in.

A real privilege for me to be there to see Paul and Team USA play like it was Game 7 of a World Series. It was the loudest and most electric baseball game I’ve ever attended, and to those who say it’s “just an exhibition,” just ask the players how they feel. This matters.

I spent 15 years with MJ, but ironically we have very few photos together. We just didn’t do that back then. We still wouldn’t do it now.

We didn’t need photos. We were creating an unforgettable timeless image for the ages. You can talk about history, or you can define it.

So I’m incredibly grateful for these photos, taken by the iconic @adbphotoinc Andy Bernstein (whom you can thank for many of the most unforgettable NBA photos of all time).

A couple years ago @jumpman put this first photo on a sweatshirt and it sold out immediately. If you have one, I appreciate you.

When someone puts you in a pressure situation, it means they believe in you. Do you believe in yourself?
Elite standards come with a price most people don’t talk about.
Isolation. Misunderstanding. Fewer people who truly “get” you.

When you decide you’re going to chase greatness, not comfort, not average, not approval, the circle naturally gets smaller. Not because you’re better than anyone… but because your priorities become different. Your schedule becomes different. Your conversations become different.

Winning at the highest level is lonely at times.
Very few people will understand the sacrifices you made when no one was watching. The early mornings. The pressure. The obsession with getting better when everyone else was satisfied.

That’s why who you surround yourself with matters more than ever.
You need people in your life who are selfless enough to support your vision… and strong enough to hold you accountable when you drift. Real allies don’t compete with your ambition, they protect it. And when you win, they win too.

There’s also a difference between healthy obsession and destructive obsession.
Healthy obsession elevates everyone around you, your family, your team, your future.
Unhealthy obsession might get you temporary results… but it leaves destruction behind.

The truth is, you cannot achieve elite outcomes without elite focus. Obsession creates clarity. It removes noise. It forces you to decide what actually matters.

So don’t lower your standards just to feel understood.
Find the right people. Stay aligned with your purpose. And accept that the path to greatness isn’t crowded, it’s narrow for a reason.

I know people love to post this video and use this quote. I was actually there when Kobe said it, and if you expected anything different, you didn’t understand Kobe.

Pressure gives you two choices. You can attack and manage it, or you can allow it to become stress, an uninvited guest that never leaves.

Winning is everything.

Broken teeth, broken bones, broken hearts, broken dreams…winning erases it all.

Keep fighting for that next win. Every day, in everything you do, your wins are waiting for you. Stop waiting to be told what to do. You already know.

Winning is everywhere, like the song that gets stuck in your head and goes around and around and you can’t make it stop. Don’t stop. Keep going. Every day, keep going.

On the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, a third of the players had come through my training facility.

And many of those came for the private pick up games, the opportunity to get on the court with MJ, and train with the best of the best.

I would have as many as 40 NBA players every summer, with full scoreboards and shotclocks. NBA refs. No cameras. No video. No entertainers. No entourages.

Serious work for serious people.

LeBron at 16. Carmelo after his first year at Syracuse. Kevin Garnett right out of high school.

And, of course, MJ Scottie Dennis and all my clients. The best in the league. Never been anything like it, never will again.

And thanks @jamalcrawford for the memories.
