Mister Rogers received so much backlash for this moment. But also for some families it changed their minds. One person recalled this being the end of the “debate” for their family. If Mister Rogers was ok sharing his pool with black people, their family was as well. When I was trying to book a children’s venue to visit with Rahaf (with no press, pictures… just to play) we were turned down by two venues. People didn’t want Palestinians from Gaza at their venues. This is actually illegal but it didn’t stop people from saying no. I was going to book the whole venue, which is totally normal for these places for a kids party or event. I cried after these calls and emails, and I’m just the privileged white lady who was trying to book the venue. I can’t imagine how racism feels and I know I will never fully understand. But I will always stand with you. Thank you Mister Rogers. Thank you, Rahaf. You have both changed my life in the most meaningful ways. Liam Ramos and his father should be with their family. As a mom I can’t image my 5 year old away from me. Look at this sweet boy. It’s horrifying to think of this precious child ripped from his home and put in a detention center. His classmates are traumatized to see their friend suddenly disappear. We must lead with compassion and keep families together. The children are watching. The children are scared. All children must be cherished and protected.

Writing, editing, creating - and the really special thing about Aron is when I taught public school music and needed a track for the kids to sing with, he put that same excellence and work into that as he does into the show. Because he wants to help the world like I do in small ways and in every way we can. Because he loves me. And I love him to the moon and back!
