When @gabormatemd told me this, it stopped me in my tracks…
Siblings may grow up in the same house, but that doesn’t mean their childhoods were the same. Not even close.
Same parents? Nope.
Same family? Nope.
Same childhood? Absolutely not.
Parents show up differently for each child depending on the season of their life, their relationship, and even their financial situation.
It’s not about who is loved more.
It’s about how that love is expressed — and how each child experiences it.
If you’ve ever wondered why you and your siblings remember childhood so differently — this is why.
This clip is from my conversation with Dr. Gabor Maté on @themelrobbinspodcast 🎧 “Why You Feel Lost in Life: Dr. Gabor Maté on Trauma & How to Heal.”

Last night in New York City, my son and I did our first live event together. It was incredible.
Thank you to everyone who came out, and thank you to @Verizon for inviting Oakley and me to share 5 tips to better phone life balance for you and your entire family.
I learned a lot from what Oakley shared about the reality of how kids are using their phones, and the fact that it starts with us parents.
If you want your kids to have better phone habits, you have to be the one to practice them first.
I used to be the kind of person who used work as an excuse for why I was always on my phone. And when I finally put my phone down, and saw everyone else was still on theirs, I would yell at my family for not being present on my schedule! Here’s the truth – if you want your kids to have better phone habits, you have to be the one to practice them first.
One of my favorite boundaries? No phones at the table – which is something my family has lived by for a decade, and you can start practicing today. Learning as a family about how to be more intentional in using our phones has led to better connection, balance, and sleep.
I want to thank Verizon for having me share my top 5 tips on building healthy phone habits and putting on this event to educate parents. Want to hear all my tips? Head to verizon.com/tech-balance to watch the full talk and learn more about the 5 tips #VerizonPartner

Here’s your reminder to stop carrying what was never yours to begin with.
You are not here to be someone’s fixer, translator, or emotional life raft.
Let Them be upset.
Let Them be confused.
Let Them figure it out.
That’s the whole point of the @letthemtheory, stop burning yourself out trying to manage other people’s reactions and come back to the only thing you can actually control: YOU 💚

This time last year, we moved our youngest @oakley_robbins into his dorm room and I was so emotional… 🥹
College students, remember that your parents are also entering a new chapter of their lives.
Let Them take a million pictures and introduce themselves to everyone.
Let Them stay for lunch and fuss over the small details in your room.
Let Them love you a little bit harder right now.
Be patient with them as you both ease into this way of life.
If you’re moving into your dorm this weekend, toss a copy of The Let Them Theory in your bag. And parents, make sure to grab a copy for yourself, too. You’ll all use it more than you think. 💚 @letthemtheory

This is your reminder: you were not put on this earth just to be someone’s partner.
You’re here to live your life, fully, boldly, and on your terms.
Let Them swipe. Let Them ghost. Let Them show you exactly who they are.
You? You’re being choosy. You’re building a beautiful, meaningful life.
And the right person won’t distract you from it, they’ll expand it.

Your energy is expensive. Stop handing it out like it’s free.
@taylorswift just said it best. Your energy is a luxury item and not everyone can afford it.
This is the @letthemtheory in action.
Let Them judge you. Let Them talk. Let Them think whatever they want.
Let Them gossip. Let Them criticize. Let Them misunderstand you.
You don’t owe anyone your time, your peace, or your explanation.
Because every second you spend trying to convince someone who’s already decided against you? That’s energy wasted.
Let Them be wrong about you.
Let Me get back to doing what I was put on this earth to do.
If there’s one thing Taylor proves — again and again — it’s this:
You can’t control what they say.
But you can control what you create.
Congrats @taylorswift on your new album! I am constantly in awe of your genius and eloquent words of wisdom...already counting down the days until your new album, The Life Of A Show Girl, comes out 🧡

At the end of the day, the most important question in a relationship is simple:
Do they feel like home?
If you’ve got that - plus loyalty, kindness, and someone who treats people well - you’ve hit the jackpot.
Everything else? Those are just skills. And skills can be learned.
No one comes fully baked. We all grow, learn, and evolve together, and that’s what makes love (and life) so beautiful.
Thank you, @brookemiccio and @daniellecarolan, for having me on @galsonthegopodcast! I had the best time chatting with you both about all things Let Them and so much more 💚

You want to know one of the most powerful skills you can learn?
Being in a good mood - for no reason at all.
Most of us have trained our brains to expect the worst.
To wake up stressed.
To slip into a bad mood before we’ve even had coffee.
But here’s the thing… You can flip that.
You can teach yourself to wake up optimistic, confident, and ready for the day…
Not because everything’s perfect, but because you’ve built the habit of expecting good things.
And when you expect good things, you start to see them everywhere.
In this episode of @themelrobbinspodcast, I’m teaching you the simple, science-backed affirmations that will rewire your mind and start your day in a powerful, positive state.

29 years ago TODAY @the.chrisrobbins and I tied the knot in the front yard of the house I grew up in Western Michigan.
It was an absolutely beautiful day with blue bird skies, bubbles, dancing into the early hours with friends and family and our vows to one another to create a life together that was filled with “love and adventure.”
29 years later…that’s what we created. Love and Adventure! From raising a family to renovating houses to building businesses to trying to improve ourselves to the mountains we’ve climbed, the rivers we fished, the backcountry we’ve skied and wilderness we’ve explored. It’s been an amazing ride.
If these past 29 years have taught Chris and I anything - it’s this:
The most important thing in life isn’t the journey or the destination - it’s the COMPANY along the way.
*Family and Friends are everything!
They make your marriage stronger. It’s what matters most in life. On your deathbed, you won’t wish you spent more time at work or online, you’ll wish you spent more time with your family and friends.
*Explore
The more new things you try and places you go, the more you learn and grow.
*Work at it.
When you tie the knot - life will test the bind. Life sure has tested us over and over. At times your bond will weaken, the knot will fray and feel worn - but if you keep a kind heart, if you remember who you married at their core, and both lean toward one another instead of away, and are both willing to work on it - you’ll be surprised how strong that bind is and what pressure it can withstand.
*Let THEM!
Stop trying to change people and learn how to love them as they are. Most fights, resentment and frustration comes from wishing people were different. The more you let people be themselves, the better your relationships will be.
*Bring the Fun.
Don’t take life so seriously. It’s not that deep. Laugh. Play cards and games. Be warm and affectionate. And dance, dance, dance - especially if you are bad at it like me and chris!
Raising a glass to 29 years and to Love and Adventure in all our lives. ❤️💋🥰
ps. How are we celebrating….? We have glamorous plans - moving @oakley_robbins into his sophomore year dorm! 🤗

Three truths that will save you a ton of time and heartache:
1️⃣ If they wanted to, they would.
2️⃣ Silence is an answer.
3️⃣ Not everyone shares your values—or your heart.
Once you come to terms with those three things, life becomes a lot easier.
Which one lands hardest for you? 💚
