Spend the day with me at an almond farm 🌿🌞 #ad

@californiaalmonds sent me to the central valley to learn more about our almond farmers here in California and it was the most wholesome time :’)

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that over 90% of the almond farms in California are run by families 🥹

Families just like Christine and her brother that work on the land day in and day out. Many families passing their farm on from generation to generation.
And I was so happy to learn that the Almond Board of California helps fund critical research to identify and promote sustainable farming practices to help growers like Christine achieve zero-waste goals. Irrigation efficiency has decreased water usage by 30% in the last 20 years!

It was so wonderful to meet farmers face to face and see the love and care they put into their farms and growing healthy foods. I’m grateful for our almond farmers and loved learning about everything they’re doing to make their farms as sustainable as possible 🤎

Some good news to stop your doomscrolling🥹 #ad

While touring almond farms in the central valley, I learned that @californiaalmonds actually helps their farmers grow pollinator habitat to encourage more bees to visit their farms.

Seeds for Bees has helped almond farmers add pollinator habitat to more than 82,000 acres of almond orchards since 2013.

While I was meeting the families who own, operate, and live on these beautiful, multigenerational farms in California, they talked about their bee friendly habitats with pride. They even talked about how they have worked with the same bee keepers for decades :’)

It was truly such a wholesome experience that filled me with hope. It’s great to see California taking care of their almond farmers, and for the farmers to have such great passion and care for not only their work, but for the land that will be passed down from generation to generation 🤎 #almonds #growingalmonds

finally had a surf lesson and honestly should have done it sooner 😩 #getyourguidepartner

I have been surfing for over a year now and it’s without a doubt the hardest thing I’ve ever learned. I thought I would progress much quicker than I have but wow the ocean is soooo humbling :’)

I booked my lesson through @getyourguide which makes finding experiences like this so much easier. I use it for both traveling and finding experiences in san diego!

This lesson helped show my weakest points with surfing and my instructor Joe gave me so much to work on. So grateful for the experience and will be booking another lesson soon 💫 here’s to sucking less at surfing !!

I’m in love with capturing the magic of the present moment on my CS8 from @campsnapcamera

I have taken little ‘home videos’ with my CS8 at my friend’s wedding, a group trip to Mexico, setting up Christmas decor, and my birthday paddle out :’) it’s truly such a gift to capture the magic of the present moment

some back story of finding passions in my life 🤸‍♀️

Growing up, dancing was my entire life up until I was 18. It was my true passion. I was in the studio 7 days a week at some points and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

When I stopped dancing, I just assumed I would never find a passion like that again.

Skip to college, and I found the biggest passion for travel and camping. Like truly, I fell so in love. I got 2 jobs so I could travel & camp as much as physically possible. It opened my mind in so many ways and showed me my deep love for nature and human connection 💫🌲🌊

but there was just one problem- I couldn’t travel and camp every single day.

fast forward to 24 and I looked at my daily life and realized… I didn’t really know what I liked to do?? I had recently learned that media was replacing younger generations’ desire for hobbies and community, so I was determined to change the course for myself

This is what started my quest to try any hobby that interested me until I found new passions that I was OBSESSED with

And I had a way to measure it:

I was looking for things that put me into flow state- where I am so engulfed in the present moment that I don’t think about anything except for what’s in front of me. I forget to eat, I don’t realize how tired I am, etc.

I was looking for things that reminded me of how dancing made me feel.

And I wanted to embrace the failure of it all. I wanted to really try any hobby that sparked my interest and let it go if the interest didn’t stick around (and truly, I tried everything)

Skip to 26, I have finally found a daily passion where I experienced flow for the first time since dance:

Rock climbing 🧗

I started and was immediately hooked. It happened several times where I climbed so hard at the gym I almost threw up. I was so obsessed. And it even leaned into skills I had developed from dancing like flexibility and leg strength! Genuinely, I fell in love

And since I discovered flow again, I’ve been able to find it in many places since 🤎 surfing was of course next, and since then I’ve been physically pushing myself outdoors, and exploring creativity when creative sparks hit 🤍

your sign to spend time offline to reset for the new year 💌

back in Arkansas with my family for the holidays and I’m spending it with social media locked so I can create, be outside, and be as present with my family as possible

I grew up walking in this Christmas tree farm that’s right next to my family’s land and it’s the most nostalgic place on earth to me. I rode bikes with my friends here, got my Christmas tree every year, took long walks, and even got married here 🤧 I love this land so much

my favorite ways to embrace ✨underconsumption✨

•delete all shopping apps
•unsubscribe to all shopping emails
•use @getclearspace & @getbrick to REALLY keep you from scrolling
•start daily walks with no phone
•go through your closet & donate what you don’t wear. Pay attention to what you donate & learn your most wasteful buying habits
•create instead of consume 🌀
