This is the only food guide you need to San Sebastián’s Old Town. Part One

Pintxos here aren’t appetizers—they’re religion. Each bar may serve many options, but there’s always just one thing they’re famous for. So in a city with more Michelin stars per square meter than almost anywhere on Earth, where do you go—and what pintxo do you order?

@lacucharadesantelmo – Basque classics turned into precision art: crackling suckling pig, octopus, rich beef cheek, and artichokes worth writing sonnets about.

@barnestor1980 – Two stars here: a char-wild steak and a tomato salad that tastes like mid-summer memory. Minimalist menu, maximum impact.

@barsport_ss – You might not go for the name—but go for the sea urchin. Creamy, briny, unforgettable.

Borda Berri – Ribs that dissolve if you stare too hard, plus a risoni so soul-cleaning it’s the highlight of my trip.

La Viña Cheesecake legend. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. get there then unless you’re courting disappointment.

This is the only food guide you need to Hong Kong — Part One.
A city where Cantonese classics meet contemporary cafés, and the best meals are still found in tiny shops, shared tables, and places that haven’t changed in decades. This first chapter is all about the Hong Kong locals actually eat in.

蘭芳園Lan Fong Yuen – One of the city’s original cha chaan tengs, famous for its old-school energy and iconic Hong Kong milk tea.

One/Third Café – A minimalist, design-driven café bringing calm, great coffee, and creative crowd energy to Central.

六安居 Luk On Kui – A traditional Hong Kong diner known for its neighbourhood charm and classic dumpling cart rolling through the room.

樂燒鵝 Yat Lok – Michelin-starred roast goose without the glamour; fast, loud, essential.

九記牛腩 Kau Kee – Nearly a century of history and a line out the door every day. A true Hong Kong noodle landmark.

Part Two coming next and more modern twist on Hal’s options. Euro vibes, western bars, and the other side of Hong Kong’s food scene.

It’s another “The Only Food Guide” — this time we’re in Boston 🇺🇸
A city where old-world charm meets a killer food scene. From its deep Italian and Irish roots to its legendary pubs and rooftop dining, Boston packs more character per cobblestone than most cities twice its size.

Here’s where to eat and drink your way through Beantown 👇

🥪 Breakfast: @heyshybird – order the breakfast sandwich, trust me.
🍝 Lunch: @contessaristorante – pasta, cocktails, and one of the best views in the city.
🦞 Seafood stop: @neptunesoyster – for oysters and the must-try lobster roll.
🍕 Local slice: @reginapizzeria – grab a takeaway slice like the locals.
🥖 Italian deli: @monicasmercato – iconic sub, pure North End energy.
🍝 Dinner: @tonyandelaines – go for the vodka rigatoni or orecchiette in the cutest setting.
🍺 Final stop: @bellinhand – America’s oldest pub. Order a Guinness and raise it to history.

San Sebastián food guide PART TWO 🍴

This city is where Michelin stars and €3 snacks
sit side by side, every bite here is rebellion on a plate. Here are the Old Town gems you must hit:

🦪@cerveceriaslamejillonera – Mussels five ways in a no-frills, shell-tossing, loud Bar where the mess makes the food tastier

☕ @simonacoffeeclub – Specialty coffee done right, plus Basque-style pan con tomate that makes any day better.

🍔 @bar_desy – Home of the cult cream-cheese burger, killer cheesecake, and some of Donostia’s best craft taps.

🥔 “Tamboril (no IG handle… sorry)” – Tuna belly potato salad so simple it’s profound, and pure Basque comfort in a bowl.Q

No voice over from me needed, old Anthony Bourdain perfectly describes how happiness can be bundled up in such a simple little package like this plastic chair plastic table and something delicious in a bowl washed down with a local lager. There is really nothing that could compare to Vietnamese hospitality in fact the meal that I’m having today was covered by the woman who sat next to me. Yeah nice hotels and fancy restaurants make a feature often on my Instagram but they will be a replacement for this! 📍 Phu Quoc

This is the only food guide you need to Singapore.

I lived here for four years, so this one’s personal. These are the places I grew up eating at, not the new trendy stuff — proof that when food is done right, it stands the test of time.

From banana leaf curry to heritage seafood, and the debate that sparks rivalry amougst all
Singaporeans. WHAT IS THE BEST CHICKEN RICE! (Please tag yours below)

This guide covers the flavours locals keep coming back for.

Where we ate:

Hwa Yu Wee
New Station Snack Bar
Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice
or Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice
Samy’s Curry

Save this for your trip to Singapore — these are the spots that shaped the city’s food culture.

This is actually the only guy that you need to Hong Kong. If you’re there for a two or three day trip these are some of the most elite spots to visit.

Lan Fong Yuen

The cha chaan teng icon. Home of the legendary Hong Kong milk tea — strong, silky, and poured like they don’t have time for your nonsense. Grab a pork chop bun or instant-noodle lunch set and experience HK comfort food in its purest form.

Twist (New Italian)

Central’s fresh take on Italian — slick, modern, and full of energy. Expect house-made pasta, sharp cocktails, and that Hong Kong twist: Italian food done with precision and just enough chaos to make it feel alive.

Bourke on Peel Street

Next is Bourkes, heavily inspired by Melbournes food scene. We’ve kicked things off with our fave. A dirty martini with both olive and pickle brine. Started with this fresh yellow fin tuna on crispy nori, and if your craving steak don’t miss Australian cut with side of classic roast potatoes! The chicken party comes highly recommended too!

Lin Heung Tea House

One of the last old-school dim sum halls standing. Pushcarts, shared tables, staff yelling orders — organised chaos that feels like stepping back into ‘80s Hong Kong. Grab whatever basket you can catch — it’s part of the charm.

Kau Kee (Gough Street)

Beef brisket noodles that locals have queued for over 90 years. Rich broth, tender brisket, fast service, no small talk. It’s the kind of bowl that stays with you long after you leave Hong Kong.

Yat Lok (Stanley Street)

Roast goose royalty. The skin snaps, the meat drips, and the Michelin star hasn’t changed the attitude — or the speed. Come hungry, sit down, eat, leave. No ceremony required.

Did you know the Penny Loafer got its name from actually having a penny in the front strap!? There are a lot of fun facts about the penny loafer, but mine is that it’s my most worn shoe. In fact, if I were to only wear one type of shoe, OR had to choose one shoe to start my wardrobe from scratch again. This would be it. The Dartmouth Penny Loafer by @aquila_est1958

This sandwich shop was crowned the number one sandwich shop in the world. In fact over one weekend in its Florence location makes up to 10,000 sandwiches so you can imagine the length of that line! @allanticovinaiofirenze now has a few venues and they’re serving up the most rashest ingredients in their sandwiches that are locally sourced from local Tuscan producers and from all over Italy? For me I’ll give this a solid 8.2 out of 10!

Oh and it has to be all silk, and my favourite ones are from @serafinesilk like this one! This is my favourite form and way to fold a pocket square. It relaxed and you can see most of the details but also shows you care about the details by including it. Some may say nonchalant. Stay handsome!

🇭🇰 PoHo. The smallest neighbourhood in Hong Kong that nobody talks about — and the one you need to know, so let @shotbyjoechan & @shaunbirley take you around

☕️ Halfway Coffee — A coffee shop opened by an antique collector with 300+ vintage Chinese porcelain cups — and yes, he serves your coffee in them. Tucked beside the Cat Street antiques market, the longan honey latte and Okinawa black sugar latte are worth the trip alone. One of the most charming spots in Hong Kong, full stop.

🥂 Casa Ibérica — A Spanish wine bar that has no right being this good in Hong Kong. The ham and tomato toasted sandwich, the cheese and jamón board, and white anchovies on pan con tomate. Acidic, salty, and completely transporting.

🍚 Yuk Kin — Don’t let the no-frills fool you. This open-air street corner institution has been serving one of PoHo’s most iconic dishes for decades — curry fried rice loaded with char siu, Chinese ham, and topped with a fried egg. Every grain smoky from the wok. Under HK$70. Absolutely essential.

🥟 Hei Bat Fong — A tiny dumpling bar wedged on a street corner. The dumplings are the excuse. The house-made XO sauce is the reason. Punchy, rich, dried seafood depth you won’t find anywhere else.

🍺 Blue Supreme — A laneway, cold local Hong Kong craft beer, and a keg to sit on. That’s it. That’s the spot. Best people watching in the neighbourhood.

This is the only guide to PoHo you need. 📍Hong Kong
