It takes us into another dimension!
This is the only food guide you need to Hong Kong — Part One.
A city where Cantonese classics meet contemporary cafés, and the best meals are still found in tiny shops, shared tables, and places that haven’t changed in decades. This first chapter is all about the Hong Kong locals actually eat in.

蘭芳園Lan Fong Yuen – One of the city’s original cha chaan tengs, famous for its old-school energy and iconic Hong Kong milk tea.

One/Third Café – A minimalist, design-driven café bringing calm, great coffee, and creative crowd energy to Central.

六安居 Luk On Kui – A traditional Hong Kong diner known for its neighbourhood charm and classic dumpling cart rolling through the room.

樂燒鵝 Yat Lok – Michelin-starred roast goose without the glamour; fast, loud, essential.

九記牛腩 Kau Kee – Nearly a century of history and a line out the door every day. A true Hong Kong noodle landmark.

Part Two coming next and more modern twist on Hal’s options. Euro vibes, western bars, and the other side of Hong Kong’s food scene.

It’s another “The Only Food Guide” — this time we’re in Boston 🇺🇸
A city where old-world charm meets a killer food scene. From its deep Italian and Irish roots to its legendary pubs and rooftop dining, Boston packs more character per cobblestone than most cities twice its size.

Here’s where to eat and drink your way through Beantown 👇

🥪 Breakfast: @heyshybird – order the breakfast sandwich, trust me.
🍝 Lunch: @contessaristorante – pasta, cocktails, and one of the best views in the city.
🦞 Seafood stop: @neptunesoyster – for oysters and the must-try lobster roll.
🍕 Local slice: @reginapizzeria – grab a takeaway slice like the locals.
🥖 Italian deli: @monicasmercato – iconic sub, pure North End energy.
🍝 Dinner: @tonyandelaines – go for the vodka rigatoni or orecchiette in the cutest setting.
🍺 Final stop: @bellinhand – America’s oldest pub. Order a Guinness and raise it to history.

Do you know what a Spalla Camicia is ?
It’s one of my favourite features of a suit that’s been well made. Right here at the shoulder, this soft pleating. That’s called spalla camicia. It’s a Neapolitan tailoring technique, hand-set, not pressed flat like a factory suit.

No hard shoulder pad. No stiff seam. It moves with you, because it’s sewn like a soft shirt sleeve.

So next time you see this. It’s not default. It’s a hand made work of art! Stay handsome

This is the wildest best experience you could have at Hong Kong. The secret recipe is this man Robbie! He brings an unmatched energy and the food to back up his charisma. If Hong Kong is on your list of visit or you’re living here @tungporestaurant is a must.

No voice over from me needed, old Anthony Bourdain perfectly describes how happiness can be bundled up in such a simple little package like this plastic chair plastic table and something delicious in a bowl washed down with a local lager. There is really nothing that could compare to Vietnamese hospitality in fact the meal that I’m having today was covered by the woman who sat next to me. Yeah nice hotels and fancy restaurants make a feature often on my Instagram but they will be a replacement for this! 📍 Phu Quoc

This is actually the only guy that you need to Hong Kong. If you’re there for a two or three day trip these are some of the most elite spots to visit.

Lan Fong Yuen

The cha chaan teng icon. Home of the legendary Hong Kong milk tea — strong, silky, and poured like they don’t have time for your nonsense. Grab a pork chop bun or instant-noodle lunch set and experience HK comfort food in its purest form.

Twist (New Italian)

Central’s fresh take on Italian — slick, modern, and full of energy. Expect house-made pasta, sharp cocktails, and that Hong Kong twist: Italian food done with precision and just enough chaos to make it feel alive.

Bourke on Peel Street

Next is Bourkes, heavily inspired by Melbournes food scene. We’ve kicked things off with our fave. A dirty martini with both olive and pickle brine. Started with this fresh yellow fin tuna on crispy nori, and if your craving steak don’t miss Australian cut with side of classic roast potatoes! The chicken party comes highly recommended too!

Lin Heung Tea House

One of the last old-school dim sum halls standing. Pushcarts, shared tables, staff yelling orders — organised chaos that feels like stepping back into ‘80s Hong Kong. Grab whatever basket you can catch — it’s part of the charm.

Kau Kee (Gough Street)

Beef brisket noodles that locals have queued for over 90 years. Rich broth, tender brisket, fast service, no small talk. It’s the kind of bowl that stays with you long after you leave Hong Kong.

Yat Lok (Stanley Street)

Roast goose royalty. The skin snaps, the meat drips, and the Michelin star hasn’t changed the attitude — or the speed. Come hungry, sit down, eat, leave. No ceremony required.

This is the only food guide you need to Singapore.

I lived here for four years, so this one’s personal. These are the places I grew up eating at, not the new trendy stuff — proof that when food is done right, it stands the test of time.

From banana leaf curry to heritage seafood, and the debate that sparks rivalry amougst all
Singaporeans. WHAT IS THE BEST CHICKEN RICE! (Please tag yours below)

This guide covers the flavours locals keep coming back for.

Where we ate:

Hwa Yu Wee
New Station Snack Bar
Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice
or Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice
Samy’s Curry

Save this for your trip to Singapore — these are the spots that shaped the city’s food culture.

The Only Guide to Hong Kong — AFTER DARK
Hong Kong doesn’t sleep. When the sun goes down, the city trades its noodle shops for some of the best cocktail bars on earth.

@greenroom_hkg at @upperhouse_hkg — We start high, above the city with the skyline glowing. Ask for the Earl Grey cocktail, it’s not on the menu, but it should be. This is how you begin the night.

@lpmrestauranthk — THE BEST tomato based cocktail you’ll have! Like biting into a sun-ripened tomato in the South of France.

@thesavoryproject_ — From the team behind one of Asia’s best bars. The dirty martini here is built on vodka infused with six kinds of green pepper and chilli. Savoury, punchy, unlike any martini you’ve had

@001.hk — Then we disappear into an actual former prison. Order the liquid sandwich — but it was the Love Potion that stole the night.

Four bars. One night. This is Hong Kong after dark. 📍 Hong Kong

🇭🇰 PoHo. The smallest neighbourhood in Hong Kong that nobody talks about — and the one you need to know, so let @shotbyjoechan & @shaunbirley take you around

☕️ Halfway Coffee — A coffee shop opened by an antique collector with 300+ vintage Chinese porcelain cups — and yes, he serves your coffee in them. Tucked beside the Cat Street antiques market, the longan honey latte and Okinawa black sugar latte are worth the trip alone. One of the most charming spots in Hong Kong, full stop.

🥂 Casa Ibérica — A Spanish wine bar that has no right being this good in Hong Kong. The ham and tomato toasted sandwich, the cheese and jamón board, and white anchovies on pan con tomate. Acidic, salty, and completely transporting.

🍚 Yuk Kin — Don’t let the no-frills fool you. This open-air street corner institution has been serving one of PoHo’s most iconic dishes for decades — curry fried rice loaded with char siu, Chinese ham, and topped with a fried egg. Every grain smoky from the wok. Under HK$70. Absolutely essential.

🥟 Hei Bat Fong — A tiny dumpling bar wedged on a street corner. The dumplings are the excuse. The house-made XO sauce is the reason. Punchy, rich, dried seafood depth you won’t find anywhere else.

🍺 Blue Supreme — A laneway, cold local Hong Kong craft beer, and a keg to sit on. That’s it. That’s the spot. Best people watching in the neighbourhood.

This sandwich shop was crowned the number one sandwich shop in the world. In fact over one weekend in its Florence location makes up to 10,000 sandwiches so you can imagine the length of that line! @allanticovinaiofirenze now has a few venues and they’re serving up the most rashest ingredients in their sandwiches that are locally sourced from local Tuscan producers and from all over Italy? For me I’ll give this a solid 8.2 out of 10!

Tucked between the cliffs and the Ligurian Sea, 25km east of Genova, is Camogli. A fishing village the tourists haven’t fully ruined yet. Pastel houses stacked six stories above the harbour, fishing boats still going out at dawn, and a food culture that hasn’t changed because it doesn’t need to.

This is what we ate and why it’s one of the most underrated food and beach destinations in Italy.

🫓 Focaccia — @revellocamogli1964
The Romans called it panis focacius. Sixty years at the same bakery. We filmed the one with caramelised onions, but walked out with tomatoes, olives and anchovies. The queue tells you everything.

🍝 Trofie al Pesto — @revellocamogli1964
Made fresh every morning. Pesto that came from down the road in Genova — the basil, the mortar, the pine nuts, the Ligurian olive oil. Most people take it straight to the beach. Right call.

☕ Caffè Shakerato
Espresso shaken over ice until it’s cold, frothy and completely essential. Non-alcoholic. The Italian summer in a glass.

🐟 Pesce alla Ligure — Restaurante da Paolo
Whole fish baked with potatoes and olives in a laneway you’d walk past without looking twice. Every restaurant on this coast does it. None of them do it like this and on the Michelin guide

🦑 Fritto Misto & Acciughe — @semmufriticamogli at @mysobri
Whatever came off the boats, straight into hot oil. Then next door to Me Sobre wine bar with the locals. Standing room only — always the sign.

Camogli will sell you a view. The only guide you actually need is to the table. 🌊

Why are some fabrics SOOO expensive and others aren’t. Well it comes down to a few finer detail that make a big deal towards the end. You’ll end up with a suit that lasts. Let’s take @dormeuil1842 for example.

Most men can feel the difference between a cheap suit and an expensive one. Here’s why it actually exists.
It starts with the sheep.
Dormeuil breeds specifically for ultra-fine fleece — for generations. Their Ambassador cloth is 14.7 microns per fibre. Your hair is 50–100 microns. Four to six times thinner.
Then the dye.
• Budget mills dye the yarn after spinning — colour sits on the outside
• Dormeuil dyes the raw fibre before spinning — colour goes all the way through
• Richer. Deeper. Lasts longer.
Then the construction.
Ambassador is the only Super 180s fabric woven two-ply in both directions. Most mills do one and call it a day.
The price gap isn’t a brand name. It’s process, precision, and 180 years of craft.
That’s what you’re paying for.
Stay handsome. 👊

There was only one watch you would wear with this green suit, and that’s the new King Seiko from @seikoaustralia. This is the only food guide you need to Macao.
Beyond the casino lights is a city shaped by Cantonese roots and Portuguese heritage — tea shops, neighbourhood noodle houses, and family restaurants that have fed generations. This is the other side of Macao, where culture lives on the plate.

華生行 (Wa Sang Hong) – A traditional Macao tea shop where time slows down. Medicinal teas for every ailment, poured into classic Cantonese porcelain, and a place locals have been visiting since childhood.

叁叁|肆伍 3345 Coffee & Vinyl – A soulful café pairing great coffee with a vinyl listening room and second-hand record store upstairs. Calm, creative, and made for lingering. @3345macau

金利 (Kam Lei) – A true neighbourhood favourite known for its curried chicken noodles. Tight seating, fast service, big flavour — affordable and deeply local.

Fernando’s – A Coloane institution where Portuguese comfort food meets beach-town charm. Rustic, generous, and unhurried — it feels more like a family gathering than a restaurant.

Lord Stow’s Bakery – The birthplace of the Macanese Portuguese egg tart. Flaky, creamy, caramelised, and still best enjoyed fresh from the original bakery by the sea. @lordstowsbakery

新益 (Sun Yick) – A legendary local spot made famous by its charismatic owner and creative Cantonese cooking. From herbal “healthy chicken” to hot pot with bone marrow, this is Macao dining with personality.

Dom Galo – Classic Portuguese dishes served with heart and no fuss. Lively tables, bold flavours, and African chicken that captures Macao’s unique blend of cultures.

Save this guide for your trip to Macao — the side of the city most people never see.

Flaky, creamy, caramelised, and still best enjoyed fresh from the original bakery by the sea. @lordstowsbakery 新益 (Sun Yick) – A legendary local spot made famous by its charismatic owner and creative Cantonese cooking.
