Just an hour from Sacramento and you’ll find a family-friendly escape at 📍𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭 @american_river_resort 🌿⛺️💦
We stayed in a Classic river front glamping tent, and falling asleep to the sound of the river stream was magical ✨. The kids had the best time exploring nature, splashing in the pool 🏊♀️, and walking to 📍James Marshall Gold Discovery State Park just down the road 🏞️.
This resort really has it all – 𝐑𝐕 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬, 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 🍴, 𝐚 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥, and it’s also the home base for 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 @american_whitewater , one of the top rafting companies on the American River 🚣♂️. We even got to try rafting one by one (my husband in the morning, me in the afternoon 🌊) while the kids stayed happily entertained with the other parent at camp.
It’s the perfect mix of rafting adventure for parents + fun and relaxation for kids 💛.

This healed me😴🫶🏕️🌲
Here’s our recipe for an unplugged weekend getaway:
1. Booked this tree net campsite on @hipcamp
2. Loaded up our mattress topper, pillows, and two comforters, into our jeep
3. Packed beanies, our books, the coziest fleece’s, hot cocoa kept HOT in our @fellowproducts thermos, tooth brushes, sunscreen, and hiking clothes (for the next day!)
4. Drove 45 minutes to the campsite, carried all bedding cautiously up multiple wooden ladders, decompressed with no screens under the string lights, slept like cozy little babies
5. Woke up with the birds, watched the sun rise in bed
6. Packed up the bedding and drove to Point Reyes station for coffee, breakfast, and a gorgeous 16 mile day hike to Alamere falls
All-in, all meals included, this 24 hour date was under $200 for two people and included multiple bougie meals. We could’ve done it for $120 if we were feeling scrappy, but the food in Point Reyes is sooo worth it. Reminder that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to have a cutie pie breathtaking weekend getaway! And Imk if you check out the tree net 😴🌲

Why have a 5 star meal, when you can have a meal under a million stars ⭐️
When I am feeling fancy while camping I whip up this shrimp and sausage boil & grill up some ribeyes too 😅
Here’s how you can too 😉
Ingredients 🧺
(This recipe makes enough for 2-4 servings)
16 oz of JUMBO or COLOSSAL frozen shrimp (I like the one that is easy peel and deveined)
1 pound of baby potatoes
1 pound of spicy sausage (I use Farmer John hot links, they have the best snap)
3 sticks of salted butter
1 head of garlic
3 large lemons
2 corn cobs (halved)
Black pepper
Chili Flakes
dried Parsley
1 can or bottle of beer of choice ( I like using Modelo)
2 Ribeye Steaks
Olive Oil
Steak Seasoning of Choice
Directions 📝
In a large aluminum tray, add in your ingredients
Shrimp
Potatoes (you can add them whole or cut them up, I like to quarter mine)
Sausage( cut into rounds)
Brie in your corn
Butter(cut up into smaller squares)
Juice of three lemons( you can use more or less if you like, I add in a few lemon peels for extra lemony flavor)
1 head of garlic (you can use less or more depending on your garlic preference)
Season with 1 tbs of black pepper, chili flakes, and dried parsley (use more chili flakes if you like it spicy)
Pour in your beer
And cover with aluminum foil and cook her the fire for about 45 minutes or until your potatoes are fork tender
Season your steaks with your steak seasoning and cook to your liking (the steak dipped in the shrimp boil butter is HEAVEN btw 😅)
And enjoy 😋
