First bodybuilding show in the books! Still can’t believe it’s all over. Months and months of preparation and sacrifice for only 20 minutes on stage is hard to wrap my head around. I’ve gained a tremendous amount of respect for any bodybuilder no matter the level that subjects themselves to this year after year. It’s truly remarkable and takes a lot of quiet strength that nobody sees. It’s simple, You have to love this sport. 

Was I perfect? No. Could I be better? Of course. Did I have fun? Absolutely. Win or not, the only thing that matters is that I gave it my all and can confidently say I have no regret’s. It’s easy for me to begin picking apart things. But for now, I’m going to pause and recognize the good. This is my best right now, and that’s enough. I’ll grow and get better. 

Crazy that I can say I’m a natural pro bodybuilder. I also pretty cool I got a sword. It’s in bed with me as I write this. There’s so many people I’d like to thank that helped me on this journey. I share this with so many people. You may only see one person on stage, but behind that there’s so much more. My wife, Kaitlyn who dealt with me everyday. She was the backbone of the operation. She kept me going when things got tough and never stopped believing in me. I’m lucky to have such a strong, unwavering woman by my side. My mom, dad and sisters- the most supportive family I could ever ask for. Their love and encouragement have meant everything to me. My coaches Cliff and Mikey- they were fully invested in me and at no point did I ever feel alone. 

I’m also going to tag a few others that have really helped in some way. Investing their time that they didn’t need to do to help me reach a goal. If you see this, thank you. 

Lastly, a big thank you to each and every one of you that have supported me as I prepped for this. Your comments and words of encouragement pushed me more than you know. 

For now, I’m going to rest. My body’s gone through a lot. I’m gonna eat some food and fill these cheeks back out. All 4 of them. Time to get back to the old Will. I missed him haha! See you all soon 👊🏻

Keys to success: 

1️⃣ Whether you’re on a diet or not, write down/ make a mental note of foods that keep you more full than others. This is a tool in your toolbox during a fat loss phase. I attached 2 photos of staple meals for me.

2️⃣ Take your time! If you want the diet to be successful it’s a long process. I gave myself more than enough time so that by the end, I’m “coasting”. The last thing you want is to feel rushed and have to resort to drastic measures. 

3️⃣ Training doesn’t change one bit. Train like you’re in the gym to build muscle and constantly strive to improve by adding weight/ reps. It’s going to be harder, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Stop listening to what you hear other people say. 

4️⃣ The beginning is harder then the end! I found that starting the diet was harder than it is right now. Breaking bad habits, feeling so far away from your goal and not seeing progress daily was incredibly difficult to stay motivated. You need to push through and make it at least 2 weeks and YOU WILL be good. Once you see progress you’ll become addicted and also proud of what you’ve done.

As I get leaner there’s a few things that I’ve learned: 

1.) DIETING IS A STATE OF MIND 🥗

If you start a diet and tell yourself it’s going to suck and you’re going to get weaker, then you will. Tell yourself it’s no different, say you will not allow yourself to get weaker. Instead of saying “I have to eat this meal”, it’s “I GET to eat this meal”. Once you lock in and accept everything that’s coming your way, it becomes much easier and fun. 

2.) HAVE A MEAL PLAN TO FALL BACK ON 📝

I’ve found it helpful to have a standard meal plan of what I know works and keeps me full. That doesn’t mean you need to eat the same things everyday, but sometimes it’s good to have a structure to fall back on when life gets overwhelming. 

3.) IF YOU HIT A WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAU, DON’T DROP CALORIES RIGHT AWAY! ⚖️

You might go a few days even a week staying at the same weight or even gaining weight. Most people’s first reaction would be to add in cardio or drop food. This isn’t always the case. Many times on my cut I’ve noticed adding in a few hundred calories allowed me to break a plateau. My body was holding water from stress. Adding in some food can get things back on track. 

4.) TRACK YOUR CALORIES ACCURATELY 👨🏻‍🔬

Every little bit matters. Make sure the label matches what you think the calories are. I’ve been using @macrofactorapp for my entire diet and it’s made things so much easier. It’s fast, and incredibly accurate. You also get to learn more about your food beyond just the macros and basic micros. You need to pay for it, but it’s literally like having a nutrition coach with you 24/7. It’s a no brainer.
