Waking up to this each morning definitely didn’t get old, and we loved how it changed each day too—some mornings you couldn’t even see the mountains, others had the clouds nestled into the tops, and other times there was just blue sky above. ✨ I loved the constant white noise of the river from inside and outside since we kept the back screen door open and many of the windows all day too. 😍 What’s your ideal way to have your morning coffee? I mean, Netflix is cool and all…but you wanna watch the storm roll in instead? 😅⛈️✨ Last week while I had the week off from work, we had some of the most wonderful overcast, gloomy, and rainy weather! This evening was my favorite though since I had spent most of the afternoon reading on the porch and got to watch the day progressively get darker and moodier. ☁️ Around dinner time, the storm clouds started rolling in alongside some distant thunder and lightning and it was SUCH a vibe. You, me, + a spring lightning storm rolling in? ⚡️🧡 I still can’t get over how insaneeeee our recent lightning storms have been! The bolts have split so much and covered the sky, and they’ve lasted hours at a time. My summer seasonal depression is hitting HARD this week and I’m over here surprised like this doesn’t happen every year around the same time…🙄☀️🥵 I’ve seen more discourse about summer seasonal depression recently (which I’m so glad it’s being talked about more!!!), but with it has come a lot of…well, misunderstanding. I’m seeing a lot of “oh yeah I hate summer and love fall so I have summer depression” and I am NOT here to tell anyone that’s not true, however, let’s also make sure we don’t trivialize the term (making something already rare/unusual seem less real) by acting like that’s the only symptom. “Summer seasonal depression” or “reverse seasonal depression” can look like: -feeling fatigued and drained due to the heat -insomnia due to the longer sunlight hours messing with your circadian rhythm (a nice double whammy when you also have adhd that pushes your circadian rhythm by about 90 minutes later than the norm) -overstimulation due to bright sunshine, constant loud noises of birds & bugs, etc. -social isolation due to the pressure to constantly be doing activities but disinterest in doing any of them (even the things you love) or due to physical appearance concerns -lack of appetite and unintentional weight loss -mood fluctuations like increased irritability or anxiety -changes in regular schedule causing stress Once again, I’m not saying everyone who says “I have that too!” doesn’t, in fact, have it. I just want to make sure it’s talked about as a real diagnoses that has some very real symptoms…and not just a social media trend. 😅 Anyone relate?! My worst symptoms are the lack of appetite, insomnia, and fatigue/disinterest. 🫩 I can’t wait for the cooler weather of late October to arrive. 🥲🍁 #fallismyfavorite #fallgirl #fallvibes #fallaesthetic #autumnvibes autumn aesthetic, autumn colors, fall foliage, leaf peeping, summer sucks, summer hater

I don’t know what happened, but I have a new media-related obsession/hyperfixation for the first time in a while…and, honestly, I’m okay with it. 🤪 We finally went to see @projecthailmary last week and it was SO good! I’ve never been much into sci-fi, but my husband is and told me I needed to read Project Hail Mary since the movie was coming out. I put it off for a while, but reluctantly started reading it shortly before the movie released and ended up devouring that book! As soon as I finished it I was DYING to get to the theater, so we headed there the first chance we could. 🎦🍿 In my opinion, it was one of the best book to movie adaptions I’ve seen in a long time. Though they did slightly change or leave out some parts that I didn’t fully agree with, it was quite perfect as a standalone film and I think that’s more important than sticking perfectly to the book in some ways, because not everyone is going to read the book either (though I 100% recommend it!) It was a little less science-y and a bit funnier than the book, but that makes sense for the screen too. If you haven’t seen it yet & haven’t watched the trailer, I also totally reccommend going in blind because the trailers do spoil stuff that I think is WAY more fun to be surprised by! I don’t know what happened, but I have a new media-related obsession/hyperfixation for the first time in a while…and, honestly, I’m okay with it. 🤪 We finally went to see @projecthailmary last week and it was SO good! I’ve never been much into sci-fi, but my husband is and told me I needed to read Project Hail Mary since the movie was coming out. I put it off for a while, but reluctantly started reading it shortly before the movie released and ended up devouring that book! As soon as I finished it I was DYING to get to the theater, so we headed there the first chance we could. 🎦🍿 In my opinion, it was one of the best book to movie adaptions I’ve seen in a long time. Though they did slightly change or leave out some parts that I didn’t fully agree with, it was quite perfect as a standalone film and I think that’s more important than sticking perfectly to the book in some ways, because not everyone is going to read the book either (though I 100% recommend it!) I finally watched Friday the 13th and Scream for the first time, so I think I’m allowed to participate in this trend now. 😌🔪🎃🤪 Last week we had a family lake trip to Arkansas and it was gloomy basically the entire week we were there, but it totally gave off slasher summer vibes! Beaver Lake is super clear and my husband had brought his waterproof action camera, so I asked him if he could try and grab the underwater swimming shot of me that’s in so many scary movies/shows and after a bunch of tries, we finally got one and it makes me so happy. 😂 I’ve been on a classic slasher film kick, although I’m still a scaredy cat and Scream did give me nightmares. 🤪 I’m spacing them out, but I think I’m going to try for Halloween next. 👀 Any other older scary movies you’d suggest I try?! I finally watched Friday the 13th and Scream for the first time, so I think I’m allowed to participate in this trend now. 😌🔪🎃🤪 Last week we had a family lake trip to Arkansas and it was gloomy basically the entire week we were there, but it totally gave off slasher summer vibes! Beaver Lake is super clear and my husband had brought his waterproof action camera, so I asked him if he could try and grab the underwater swimming shot of me that’s in so many scary movies/shows and after a bunch of tries, we finally got one and it makes me so happy. 😂 I’ve been on a classic slasher film kick, although I’m still a scaredy cat and Scream did give me nightmares. 🤪 I’m spacing them out, but I think I’m going to try for Halloween next. 👀 Any other older scary movies you’d suggest I try?! The 4 coziest months of the year are almost here! 🍂🎃🍁🎄☃️❄️ September, October, November, & December are SO cozy and I hope they go by oh so slowly. 🥲 Fall and winter have my heart, so I am beyond ecstatic that they’re so close! It won’t fully cool down here until mid-late October, but during the peak summer months the heat is oppressive at all hours of the day. However, starting in September, our mornings and evenings typically start to cool off and it means I can actually spend some time on the porch again. 🥲 I also feel like there’s a huge shift towards fall in September, even if the weather isn’t fully there yet. In-season produce is changing at the farmer’s market, school is back in session, football season has started, sunflower fields are blooming, campfire nights can be enjoyed, apple picking begins…all the early fall feels! 🍂 Which ‘ber month is your favorite?! The 4 coziest months of the year are almost here! 🍂🎃🍁🎄☃️❄️ September, October, November, & December are SO cozy and I hope they go by oh so slowly. 🥲 Fall and winter have my heart, so I am beyond ecstatic that they’re so close! Being a reader is definitely the closest I’ve gotten…📚✨🌲 But it’s also really fun when it’s not a fully fictional world, so you can go visit in real life too (although I didn’t find any vampires or werewolves 🤔🧛🏻‍♂️🐺)! After getting some faux autumn ivy for our bedroom and TV room, it hit me that green ivy would be so perfect for the kitchen TV vibe! Does anyone else just immediately relate faux ivy with the 90’s/early 2000’s? 🍃✨ I know it was most popular in the 90’s, but I relate it to the early 2000’s a bit more for some reason (maybe decor trends were a bit delayed here?! Last year we visited Michigan for the first time in autumn and holy wowza…it was insane. 😍🍂🍁 But my other favorites have been Upstate New York and New Hampshire! Have you traveled anywhere in the fall before to catch the season elsewhere?! It’s become one of my favorite traditions! Only 14 more Fridays until the world starts getting super colorful, the days finally get shorter and less overstimulating, and we can breathe crisp air outside again without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. 🤪✨🍂🥲 Until then, I’ll be doing my best to still romanticize summer…but you miiiiight still catch me daydreaming about fall at least every other moment. 😅 October has been quite warm the last few years here in Kansas and the foliage doesn’t start to change until late in the month/into November even, so we’ve been traveling north the past few years to stretch out the season!
