1. It’s easier than you think

- Editing videos & shooting content after a long day is difficult, but the pain doesn’t last long. After about a month, I realized posting/editing was a lot easier than people made it out to be. Take your shot and post whatever, people are a lot more interested in your life than you may think, and it gets easier with time.

2. Social media pays more than you think

- Ive had some months where I’ve made more, or even double my paycheck just by posting consistently and putting an email in my bio. I’ve learned that brand deals are a huge hack, and having a ton of views isn’t what truly pays.

3. You grow your network a ton

- I’ve had more people connect with me on LinkedIn in 6 months than I’ve had in 6 years. It may sound funny, but people admire the corporate/content side hustle grind, and it has drawn me to meet more people than I’d imagine.

Regardless, I believe that everyone should have a creative outlet outside of their 9-5. Whether that’s painting, making music, creating videos, whatever it may be. Creativity is a very underrated trait, and everyone should exercise that muscle as much as possible. You never know how many doors will open because of it.

1. Love isn’t what carries you, commitment does.
Feelings change. Choosing each other daily is what actually builds a marriage.

2. You’re marrying someone who will grow and change, and so will you.
Give each other room to become who God is shaping you into, not who you were at 22.

3. God has to be the foundation, not just something to fallback on.
When life gets hard (and it will), you need something stronger than emotions holding you together.

There are many more considerations and tips, but these are just a few that would’ve helped us a ton early on.

I’ve been getting asked a lot about what I do and how I got to where I’m at ever since graduating college.

Right now I work at an LNG company as an analyst. My role is more project finance-focused than cash management, so I spend a lot of time working in models and analyzing different projects we’re working on.

But what people don’t know is that getting here wasn’t a straight path at all. I started college as an engineering major because I found passion in solving difficult things, but quickly realized it wasn’t for me. I switched to financial management my sophomore year and graduated with that degree but I was still unsure of what I actually wanted to do with my career.

I didn’t have a job lined up after college and ended up working in new home sales for about 10 months before realizing I still wasn’t fulfilled. I wanted to actually exercise my degree so I pivoted into consulting at an accounting firm. The job was pretty solid but I still felt unsettled.

Long story short, my friend at Bible study told me about an open role at his company. After a few interviews he was able to help me get the job, and now I get to work in a field I enjoy and continue to grow in.

Moral of the story: it’s okay to feel lost. Your path doesn’t have to look perfect or linear. Just keep showing up, stay open to new opportunities, and trust that your time is coming. Here’s a good takeaway scripture that has always stuck with me and hopefully it does with you as well:

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

A lot of people say getting married young isn’t smart, but here’s my side of the story:

1. You CAN have balance in your personal life.

- There’s this big myth that once you’re married your personal goals or time with your friends have to take a back seat. But with good communication and simple set expectations, it’s 100% possible to grow individually while growing together.

2. Laying your marriage foundation on God is everything.

- I can’t count how many issues my wife and I have worked through simply because one, or both of us ran to prayer first. When your relationship is rooted in Christ the fruit of the Spirit shows up in how you treat each other.

3. Marriage is actually a blessing in disguise

- I always knew marriage was supposed to be a blessing but I didn’t realize how true that was until I lived it. Coming home to someone who knows you, doing life together, and doing fun things together, feels like you’re just living with your best friend

4. You learn more about yourself than you ever expected.

- I thought I had myself figured out. I didn’t. Marriage exposes your habits, insecurities, strengths, and blind spots in a way that invites growth. It’s been humbling and so good for my wife and I.

4. Marriage is fun

- Seriously. You get a built-in best friend to do life with. Trips, errands, deep talks, church, all of it. And reflecting on those shared memories just makes the whole thing that much cooler.

At the end of the day, marriage really depends on who you marry. So don’t rush it. Spend time praying about the kind of spouse you want to do life with. God knows what you need more than you do, and when it’s right it’s completely worth it. I promise you it’s not as scary or hard as the world makes it out to be.
