Why is local small farm food different from the stuff at the grocery store?

Average food at the grocery store travels 1,500 miles before it is sold. Picked many months ago

Technically local food is within a 100-400 mile radius (I misspoke in this video but the general idea remains true)

Take a moment to understand this if you want to be nourished:

Moment some food is harvested, it begins to lose nutrient value. This has been demonstrated in studies 

Additionally food grown in industrial farms by large food corporations is often depleted in nutrition because the soils are not tended in ways that can only be accomplished in small farm settings.
