If you only care about brand deals, you are thinking too small.

And before you come for me, let me explain.

Yes, brand deals are important. They matter. You need them. They pay your bills, they build credibility, they give you access to opportunities you wouldn’t have otherwise.

BUT... what are you actually DOING with them?

Are you only thinking about your next brand deal?

Or are you thinking about how what you’re building right now can sustain you for the next 5-10 years?

Because there is a huge difference.

@desiperkins is a perfect example of this. She built a massive YouTube following doing beauty content. She partnered with major brands. Made great money as an influencer.

Had everything most creators are working toward.

But she didn’t stop there. She used all of that, the audience, the credibility, the trust she had built, to launch her own sunglass brand.
Then skincare.

She built something for herself. Something that relies on HER. Something she has control over.

Something that won’t disappear if a brand decides to cut their influencer budget or if the algorithm changes tomorrow.

That’s the difference between creators who work for brands their entire career and creators who build businesses that last.

So my question for you is... what are you doing with the brand deals you are landing right now?
Are they just income? Or are you using them as leverage to build something bigger?

Because if you are only focused on the next partnership, you are leaving SO MUCH on the table.

The credibility you are building.
The proof that people trust your recommendations.
The visibility you are gaining.
The education you are getting on how this industry works.

All of that is leverage. Real, valuable leverage that you could be using to build something of your own.

But only if you are thinking beyond the next brand deal.

If your biggest brand deal went away tomorrow... what would you do?

Not in a scary way.

In a “do you actually have a plan” way.

Because here is what I see happen all the time. 👀

A creator (maybe you) gets consistent deals.

Maybe even lands that one big retainer that changes your month.

And then the whole strategy becomes... keep this going.

Hope they renew.

Find another one just like it.

And yeah that works.

Until it doesn’t.

Brands switch management.

Budgets get cut.

Priorities shift.

And the creators who built their whole income around deals they don’t control? You feel it immediately.

It is not a failure thing.

It is a no one told you to build something you actually own thing.

Brand deals are how you start.

They are how you build momentum, prove your value, and create real income as a creator.

But they are the foundation, not the whole ceiling.

The creators who actually build something lasting are the ones who got consistent with brand deals AND started asking what else can I build that is fully mine.

Fully scalable AND in my control.

Think about it the same way you think about only being on one platform.

What happens if it disappears tomorrow.

Same thing applies to your income streams.

So if you watched this and felt something... good.

That feeling is information.

Save this, share it with a creator friend who needs to hear it, and if you are ready to actually build the business behind the brand deals, send me “PIPELINE” in the DMs.

Someone on Threads said brands should “STOP paying creators and influencers 10-25k+ for partnerships” because “their following isn’t as loyal” and there’s no “correlation to the cash on cash return they can prove.”

I understand the take. Especially when creators are quoting 5-figures with zero ability to back it up or handle objections. But that’s not a pricing issue.

It’s true, a lot of creators CAN’T prove their value.

BUT! They’re wrong that the solution is to pay creators less.

Instead, creators should actually understand what they’re selling & have confidence! aka POSTURE.

If you follow me long enough, you know I teach you that you’re not
→ selling your following
→ selling views
→ selling a guaranteed conversion rate on a product you had zero input on, with creative direction you didn’t write, dropped at a time the brand chose, with required action steps that weren’t built for your audience

You are selling marketing. Strategy. Trust.
Influence over a specific person’s buying decisions in a specific group, interest, pain point, at a specific moment in their life.

Sorry, that’s not a $500 deliverable.
That’s not even a $2,000 deliverable depending on who you are & who your audience is.
(I’m not even talking about usage or exclusivity amplifying the cost that has nothing to do with ROI either).

The brands making that argument are THE SAME BRANDS who will low-ball you, micromanage your content, ignore your input, and then blame you when it doesn’t convert.

You don’t need to prove you can make their cash back.
You need to be positioned well enough that the right brands already understand that your value is to contribute to an entire marketing operation, designed to move people through a sales funnel...before the conversation even starts.

As an influencer, you contribute to a team project. And they’re making it YOUR fault they didn’t pick correctly.

That’s literally what I teach creators inside BDA: how to understand the psyche of a brand to work to your advantage, & have clarity on how to leverage what YOU DO HAVE, not what you don’t.

If you’ve been trying to quote 5-figures & can't handle the pushback without 2nd-guessing yourself, DM me “BDA”

If you’ve ever watched another content creator land a travel deal in the same destination you visited and thought “be so for real”... this is why.

Brands don’t pay for pretty content.

They pay for well-positioned content.

Two creators can visit the exact same hotel, fly the same airline, use the same travel card...

But only one gets the deal.

And it always comes down to how you frame the experience.

You can show up at the location, film the aesthetic shots, say it’s beautiful, and hope the brand notices.

Please hear me when I say that is not marketing.

It’s really just documenting.

When you’re a strategic travel creator, you do something completely different.

You’re not just showing the pool. You’re explaining why that pool made you actually disconnect for the first time in two years.

You’re not just saying the airline has great service. You’re sharing the one thing that airline does that makes you book it every single time you travel solo internationally.

You highlight transformation, not just aesthetics.

You speak to the emotional reason someone books a trip.

If your travel content looks beautiful but brands aren’t paying attention, the issue isn’t your editing, your camera, your destinations, or your follower count.

It’s that you’re recreating what other creators do without understanding the strategy behind it.
Once you learn how to speak the language of marketing?

Your content gets noticed. Your value becomes obvious. Your inbox changes.

That’s what gets you PAID.

Comment “TRAVEL” if you’re done watching other creators land the press trips, gifted stays, and tourism board deals you know you’re qualified for... a few spots just opened up in the Brand Development Academy and I don’t want you to miss it

Let me ask you something honestly... if you became a full-time creator tomorrow, would you actually know what to do? (stitch from @natashamchomko )

Like... beyond the content.
Beyond the aesthetic and the posting schedule and the trending audios.

Would you know how to pitch a brand cold and follow up strategically?
Would you know what to look for in a contract a brand sends you?
Would you know how to negotiate when they come back with a lowball?
Would you know how to invoice, track your income, plan for taxes, manage your pipeline?

Because most creators don’t. And that’s not a dig... it’s just the reality of an industry that shows you the highlight reel and none of the backend.

You see your favorite creator posting effortlessly and you think “I could do that.”
And you CAN.

But what you’re seeing is maybe 10% of what’s actually happening.
The other 90%? That’s the editing, the pitching, the negotiating, the contracts, the invoices, the bookkeeping, the strategy, the admin... all the stuff nobody is showing you because it’s not aesthetic and it doesn’t go viral.

And here’s what separates the creators who build real full-time careers from the ones who burn out and go back to their 9-5...
The ones who make it expected this.
They knew there was going to be a lot to learn beyond the content.
And they showed up for ALL of it, not just the fun parts.

After 6 years of doing this full-time and helping over 75+ creators hit their first six-figure year...
I can tell you with certainty that talent is not what makes the difference.

Preparation does.
Business principles do.
Understanding that brand deals will slow down one day, the industry will change, but a real business?
A real business you’ve built on solid principles?
That lasts.

And here’s what I really need you to hear... you don’t have to wait until you have a management team or the infrastructure your favorite big creators have to start building this.

You can do it right now. Where you’re at.

But do you know how?
Do you have a game plan based on what actually works?

Have you ever checked your rate five times before sending a $10K proposal… not because the math was wrong, but because it just felt wrong?

Like this is someone’s monthly salary. For 1-2 pieces of content. Who am I to ask for that, right?

And then right before you hit send, you think “maybe I should quote just under $10K... just to make it easier for them to say yes, just so I don’t have to sit in the discomfort.”

So you either send $10K and they say no, and now you’re spiraling, trying to figure out what you did wrong.

OR you talk yourself down, quote less, they say yes, and you spend the whole partnership resenting it.

Either way you lose.

Here’s what nobody tells you: the brand didn’t say no because you asked for too much.

They said no because the ask wasn’t positioned properly. Because the conversation didn’t make them feel the value before the price landed. Because confidence in the room is something brands can feel. And when you’re anxious, THEY’RE ANXIOUS.

I’ve quoted brand deals 5 figures and up close to 100x a year. I say that number with my chest now.

Not because I stopped caring... but because I’ve had enough reps to know EXACTLY how to make a brand feel comfortable about what they’re paying for, what they’re investing in, and where that money is going before that price ever hits the table.

When we work together, you’re not just learning how to price your brand deals. You’re BORROWING ALL THE REPS I’ve already done so you don’t have to figure it out the hard way.

Because experience is the best teacher, granted it’s someone else’s.
If you’ve been chasing your first five-figure brand deal and can’t figure out why it keeps slipping,

DM me POSTURE and let’s build your confidence before your next big conversation.

No brand invited me to Cannes Lions... so I invited myself.

No confirmed partnership. No guarantee. Just a decision, made before any of it made sense on paper.

Here’s what I know that a lot of creators don’t want to hear: the room doesn’t open because you’re ready. It opens because you showed up like you already belonged there.

I said yes to myself first. Booked the trip. Positioned around it. Then the partnerships came. Three of them. One existing one that extended our long term deal. Two were brands I’d wanted to work with for years. The whole trip ended up fully comped, not because a brand found me, but because I put myself somewhere brands couldn’t NOT find me.

That’s the part nobody talks about. It’s not luck. It’s not virality. It’s not “the algorithm blessed me.” It’s not “shooting my shot” and tagging brands. It’s positioning yourself intentionally into rooms before you have permission to be there. Prepared with an idea because you’ve done your research.

You’re sitting on the sidelines waiting for a brand to hand you an invitation. Meanwhile the creators actually scaling and doing this as their career stopped waiting for permission A LONG TIME AGO. They decided first. The validation came after.

So ask yourself the real question: what are you waiting on confirmation for, that you could just decide?

DM me POSTURE if you’re ready to stop waiting to be picked and start positioning yourself to be chosen.

So you increased your rates from $800 to $4,000. And the deals got even harder to land.

And now you’re spiraling, thinking maybe you priced yourself out of the market. Maybe you’re not “there yet.” Maybe you need to drop back down.

NO.

Your price changed. Your positioning didn’t.

The brands who were already penny pinching to pay you $800 don’t have $4,000.
They were never going to have $4,000.

And if you’re
→ still pitching the same quality level of brands
→ still showing up in your content the same way
→ still attracting the same energy you were at $800

that new number isn’t landing because nothing else changed.

✨ Raising your rates is step one. ✨

Step two is making sure
→ your content quality attracts a higher level brand
→ your email convesations are sharp
→ you’re improving alignment in who you’re reaching out to
→ you’re filtering opportunities like your time and energy are actually expensive.

Your positioning should reflect a creator worth $4,000.
Because a luxury price tag on a Shein piece is still a Shein piece.

The creators who successfully scale their rates aren’t just charging more. They’re showing up differently.
Pitching different brands. Creating content that attracts a different buyer.

That’s the part nobody tells you.

If you’ve been rawdogging brand deals and increasing you rates have caused you more problems than results

Comment or DM me “POSTURE” and let’s fix this before it costs you.

And if you’re → still pitching the same quality level of brands → still showing up in your content the same way → still attracting the same energy you were at $800 that new number isn’t landing because nothing else changed. ✨ Raising your rates is step one. ✨ Step two is making sure → your content quality attracts a higher level brand → your email convesations are sharp → you’re improving alignment in who you’re reaching out to → you’re filtering opportunities like your time and energy are actually expensive. If you’ve been rawdogging brand deals and increasing you rates have caused you more problems than results Comment or DM me “POSTURE” and let’s fix this before it costs you.
It’s only a “slow” December when you don’t have systems that feed your brand deal pipeline 😜

Here’s a hard pill to swallow: followers and virality don’t equal more money.

Brands won’t shower you with brand deals when you hit that follower ✨milestone✨ srry

(If anything, you’d be a higher risk for them if your platform isn’t 100% aligned)

The more you focus on being an aligned brand partner by having a marketable platform and less on growth, the faster you’ll secure high quality brand deals 😗

If you lost your biggest retainer tomorrow, would your business survive?

For a lot of creators chasing long-term partnerships as the goal, the answer is no. And that’s the part nobody talks about.

You send 50 pitch emails a week.
You have strong organic numbers across TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.
You’re still landing gifted offers from notable brands instead of paid ones.
You’re securing 2-3 paid deals a month, low 4-figures.
Inconsistent every time.

The instinct is always “I need more long-term deals.” That wasn’t the problem.

Most brands operate campaign by campaign, even if it is a long-term contract. They’re not sitting around hoping you pitch them a year-long commitment. So when every single pitch leads with “I want to be your long-term partner,” you’re not solving their problem. You’re solving yours. And you’re building a business that’s one canceled retainer away from collapsing.

A healthy creator business runs on a mix. One-offs and retainers, working together. Not an all-in bet on partnerships that were never actually on the table.

And if you want to go even deeper? If you’re only surviving off of just your brand deal income as a full-time creator, you’re one reality check away from losing your so-called “business”, but that’s a topic for another day 🙃

You keep telling yourself you need one big retainer to feel secure. But that’s not security. That’s one brand’s budget meeting away from your entire income disappearing.

If your income would tank the moment one retainer walked away, you don’t have a business. You have a dependency. DM me “DIVERSIFY” and let’s build a mix that can actually survive a brand saying no before you find out the hard way.

helping creators scale their brand deals EFFORTLESSLY gives me the same amount of endorphins as devouring 6 blue crabs (75g protein) to myself 🦀

It’s not even a one-time occurrence at this point anymore.

Pretty much our norm over here 🤷‍♀️
