Everyone's trying to do their homework before sequestering.
In the wake of Pope Francis' passing, viewership of the Oscar-winning thriller 'Conclave' jumped 283% across streaming platforms yesterday.
As the film follows Ralph Fiennes trying to maintain order during the Vatican's vote for a new pope, it's no surprise to see the massive jump with a very real conclave set to begin in the days following Pope Francis' funeral this Saturday.
According to viewership data from analytics firm Luminate, streaming minutes for 'Conclave' jumped from 1.8 million on Sunday to 6.9 million on Monday. And those numbers could continue to increase, according to Wired, as the movie was only available to rent or buy on digital. Earlier today, the movie was opened for streaming to Amazon Prime subscribers.
Elsewhere, Netflix's 'The Two Popes'—which depicts Pope Francis' relationship with Pope Benedict XVI—saw a similar jump, rising 417% on Monday. Streaming numbers for that film jumped from 290,000 to 1.5 million Sunday to Monday.

Illinois now has something new to boast about besides being the state where Abe Lincoln got really into top hats.
It became the first US state to regulate AI mental health services this week when Gov. JB Pritzker signed a law banning AI therapy.
The law forbids chatbots from acting as therapists and limits how human mental health professionals can use AI to aid their work. Companies face up to $10,000 in fines if they violate the law.
The move comes as ChatGPT users—particularly younger ones—increasingly turn to the app for what amounts to free therapy. OpenAI recently made updates to its model to encourage users to use ChatGPT in a healthier way.

The anime images all over your timeline surely have Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki sick to his stomach.
With the release of OpenAI's latest image generator yesterday, the internet has been flooded with Studio Ghibli-inspired photos after users discovered it could imitate popular animation styles with relative ease (give or take a few fingers).
Unsurprisingly, the artist behind the aesthetic that's leading the trend has never been a fan of the technology.
In a video from 2016, which has resurfaced over the last 24 hours, Miyazaki is visibly disgusted after a group of Studio Ghibli employees tried to pitch him early AI image generating tech for future projects.
Concerns over AI models being trained on copyrighted content are already sparking legal issues, and this latest fad will do little to quell the fears of those whose intellectual property could be at risk.
