Is this the closest thing to middle earth in the UK? 🤔💍✨

(FOLLOW @lockdownmadeustravel for more beginner friendly travel inspo)

We just found one of the most magical forests in the UK… and it’s believed to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien when creating middle earth. 🧙‍♂️🌿

📍 Puzzlewood, Perrygrove Rd, Coleford, GL16 8QB

Hidden inside the Forest of Dean, this ancient woodland is full of moss-covered rocks, twisted trees, and winding paths that look like they’re straight out of a fantasy film.

Tolkien grew up nearby and is thought to have visited this area, with many people believing Puzzlewood helped inspire the landscapes of The Lord of the Rings. 💍

The forest has also been used as a filming location for productions like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Merlin thanks to its storybook feel. 🌌

It honestly feels like you’ve stepped into a real-life fantasy world… right here in the UK. 🌳✨

Things you need to know before visiting 👇🏼

🚗 Just over 2 hours from London / Heathrow
🥾 Wear walking boots (it gets very muddy in winter)
🐶 No dogs allowed 🚫
🚁 No drones or tripods permitted 🚫
💷 £9.90 adults / £8.50 children
🌐 Opening times change throughout the year
☕️ Toilets & refreshments available on site

Would you explore this real-life Middle-earth? 🤔

Would you cross the world’s TALLEST aqueduct? 😳🛶

(follow @lockdownmadeustravel for more adventure travel and weekend escapes)

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in North Wales stands a staggering 130 ft above the River Dee and is the tallest navigable aqueduct anywhere in the world! 🌎

You can walk across it, but we took things up a notch and canoed across with @beardedmenadventures and it turned out to be one of the most unique experiences we’ve ever had. 🚣‍♂️

If you’re planning a trip to North Wales, this is an absolute must do adventure 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Would you be brave enough to cross it? 👇

Can you believe this place was formed over a million years ago… 🤯

(Follow @lockdownmadeustravel for more beginner friendly travel inspo)

If you’re looking for the perfect beginner adventure in the UK, this is it 👇

📍Cheddar Gorge, dramatic limestone cliffs & birth place of cheddar cheese 🧀

📍Where is it?
Somerset, around 30 mins from Bristol and 2.5 hours from London, ideal for a spontaneous weekend hike.

🥾 The Route Options:
Full Gorge Loop- approx. 5-6km (3–4 miles) The classic circular walk along both cliff edges. Big views & steady inclines, totally doable if you’ve got average fitness.

South Side Only- shorter option with epic viewpoints and slightly quieter trails. This one starts with quite an intense rocky incline, so take your time.

⏱ Time Needed:
2- 3 hours at a relaxed pace (longer if you’re stopping for photos… which you will)

👟 What to Wear:
Proper walking boots (it gets muddy + rocky)
Layers (it’s exposed at the top) Waterproof if the forecast looks questionable

🎒 Bring:
Water
Snacks (trust us, you’ll want a summit snack moment)
Phone/camera for those Jurassic-looking cliffs

This is one of the best entry level adventure hikes in the UK, dramatic scenery without needing to be an experienced hiker.

Save this for your next weekend plan 👀

Is this the most mysterious place in the Peak District? 👀

(Follow @lockdownmadeustravel for more beginner friendly adventures)

Hidden deep within the woodland lies this natural cleft in the rock, a place wrapped in legend and quiet mystery 🤫

This cleft has been carved over centuries and cloaked in thick, velvety moss.

Walking through the towering walls that rise up to 18 metres, makes this place seem otherworldly.

Some say this hidden gorge was once a secret place of worship, giving it its name, Luds Church. ⛪️ Others believe it sheltered outlaws, even whispered to be one of Robin Hood’s hiding spots.

Foggy, shadowy, and almost silent… stepping inside feels like entering another time entirely 😮

📍 Luds Church, Near Gradbach, Staffordshire, Peak District
👟 Wear grippy shoes, it can be slippery underfoot
🥾 A short, well signposted walk from Gradbach Car Park, easy to reach, yet it still feels hidden.
🚗 Parking: SK17 0SU, Gradbach Mill

Is this the most mysterious place in the Peak District? 👀 (Follow @lockdownmadeustravel for more beginner friendly adventures) Hidden deep within the woodland lies this natural cleft in the rock, a place wrapped in legend and quiet mystery 🤫 This cleft has been carved over centuries and cloaked in thick, velvety moss. Foggy, shadowy, and almost silent… stepping inside feels like entering another time entirely 😮 📍 Luds Church, Near Gradbach, Staffordshire, Peak District 👟 Wear grippy shoes, it can be slippery underfoot 🥾 A short, well signposted walk from Gradbach Car Park, easy to reach, yet it still feels hidden. 🚗 Parking: SK17 0SU, Gradbach Mill Would you explore a place like this?
Did we just find the real life Shire? 🌿✨

This hidden waterfall tucked beneath the mountains feels like it’s been lifted straight from Middle earth 😍

The kind of place where you half expect a Hobbit to wander past at any moment. 🍃

📍 Aber Falls, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales 🏔️

If fantasy worlds were real, they’d probably look a lot like this.

Would you add Aber Falls to your Wales bucket list? 💚

During our week on the stunning island of Zakynthos 🇬🇷, we learned all about the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles and the amazing conservation work being done to protect them and their nests. 🐢💚

But the real magic happened one morning at Agios Sostis harbour…

A fisherman tapped the side of his boat and, to our absolute shock, a HUGE loggerhead turtle surfaced right in front of us 😍

The fisherman told us he’s been seeing this turtle most mornings for the past 80 years!

It was such a surreal, unforgettable encounter-one of those “pinch me” travel moments 🌏✨

Would you add Zakynthos to your bucket list? 🏝
