One of my favourite days of the year is our Seniors Morning Tea. I had the pleasure of launching the 2026 edition of my Seniors and Pensioners Guide, a one-stop shop for all the services available to seniors in our local area.

If you couldn’t make it but would like a copy, please email me: andrew.charlton.mp@aph.gov.au 📧

A huge thank you to @salvosau for hosting us, and to @nswpolice @commbank @hearing_australia @nationalseniorsaustralia and @cityofparramatta for sharing important resources and information with the community. 🫖

Meet our Specialist Audiologist Steph who has been part of our Werribee Hearing Centre team in Victoria for nine years. As Steph’s work with paediatric clients grew, so did her desire to better connect with the Deaf children she supports each week. Last year, Steph began studying Auslan after work to deepen her Deaf awareness and communication skills. Steph really enjoys it and even though she says she’s still got a long way to go, families feel the impact immediately. This Auslan Day, we’re proud to shine a light on Steph and her commitment to making every child and family feel seen, respected and understood.

Yesterday, we joined @DrAndrewCharlton (Federal Member for Parramatta) for a wonderful morning of connection, information and community at the 2026 Seniors Morning Tea, celebrating the launch of the Seniors and Pensioners Guide ☕️

Guests had the opportunity to hear from speakers representing City of Parramatta Council, Commonwealth Bank and Parramatta Police Area Command, while our hearing specialists (Lauren Calvert and Isabelle Paras) provided free hearing checks, answered attendees' questions and hosted a designated quiet zone throughout the event.

We look forward to continuing to support our local seniors through events and initiatives that promote health, wellbeing and connection 👂💙

Meet four-year-old Charlotte. Since being fitted with hearing aids through our Social Purpose Program, Charlotte is more outgoing, more engaged at home and preschool, and communicating more clearly. Her audiologist Kristen explains, “Charlotte’s confidence has grown. Her family, friends and preschool staff all noticed the change.” Charlotte is also clear about what her hearing aids mean to her saying, “I love them – I like to hear my friends.” Charlotte’s story shows the importance of early and accessible hearing care. Listening means different things to all of us.

It’s how we connect — to people, to stories, to culture, and to each other.

During National Reconciliation Week, we’re reminded of the importance of taking the time to listen, to understand, and to walk alongside one another.

At Hearing Australia, we know that listening helps us build trust, deepen understanding, and recognise the diverse experiences that shape our communities.

We acknowledge the communities we work with across the country and thank those who continue to share knowledge, culture and connection.

At 106 years old, our client John knows exactly what matters most – staying connected. When John met Andrea, our Senior Audiologist with more than 30 years’ experience, he became the oldest client she has supported in her career. But for Andrea, age was never the focus. What mattered was John’s quality of life and supporting him so he can remain part of the world around him. “You need to socialise and I like to mingle with others,” John says. “When I’m out in the world, the hearing aids allow me to feel connected with others. I don’t feel part of the human race without them.” It’s a privilege to support people’s hearing needs at every stage of life – because connection has no age limit.

Meet 28-year-old First Nations man Leon. For 18 months, Leon went without hearing aids. During this time, conversations were slipping past, music lost its meaning, and his confidence was quietly fading. Through our Social Purpose Program, Leon received fully funded hearing aids and support. The moment they were switched on, his relief was immediate. Leon shared that he felt “really happy and relieved” to hear properly again. Next week is World Hearing Day and the theme is “From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children”. Born in Nauru, David was fitted with hearing aids through our Social Purpose Program at the age of two. His audiologist Stacey recalls, “David spoke only a handful of words and often seemed disengaged – except when music played. When the devices were switched on, he became calmer and more alert, and he listened intently to his favourite music”. Learn more about our Social Purpose Program via the link in our bio.
