she gets to nap, watch the birds and be a demon spawn all at the same time ✨ When we installed this loft net I had an idea that my cats might enjoy it but I never had any idea just how much Mog would love it! She gets so excited whenever I put it up and one of my little joys in life is laying underneath it and getting to poke her toe beans and ruffle her belly. Which is a game she really enjoys as she likes to try and get me back! Mog has endless fun watching the birds from the window and swooshing her tail at them (she can’t get them I promise!) She also loves to take naps here and weirdly I think she prefers napping on the net without a blanket underneath! Whilst I think decor decisions can definitely be something you both have input on in a home, saying your husband would never LET you is something else entirely! The only right way to store your baguettes 🥖 🐟 I made some flower fairy bread bags a little while back that store small loafs, rolls and bagels perfectly! But they couldn’t fit my baguettes in so I wanted to come up with a new way of storing them. I saw an incredible pattern online for a sardine pillow on @etsy and thought it would be perfect for baguettes with a couple of tweaks! This was also really fun because I could use my scrap fabrics to make a patchwork sardine 🐟 I’m going to be making baguettes every week now just so I can use this! my house wouldn’t be a home without them 🐶 🐱 🐈‍⬛ I grew up with both cats and dogs and it was a dream of mine to have both in my adult life. I feel as you walk through life it’s full of people picking a ‘side’. But I think each species are so special and unique and I could never pick one of the other. It makes me so happy that even if I leave the house for a few minutes they all like to run to the door to see me. What if you never decorate how you want and get stuck in your current home for the next 20 years because of any reason really- illness, career, kids etc! Then you’ve spent 20 years in a home that’s never felt like your own because you’ve been worrying about an imaginary future buyer. I had this home valued once and I asked the estate agent if my whimsical taste would put off any future buyers and he said not at all. That buyers will most likely want to change the kitchen and bathroom anyway to suit their taste and unless you’ve done crazy things like moving walls to ridiculous places then you will be fine. The future potential buyers won’t appreciate my whimsy ☺️✨ Unless your a house flipper (which is a far cry from what my page is about) then you really don’t need to spend your life worrying about ‘future buyers’. What if you never decorate how you want and get stuck in your current home for the next 20 years because of any reason really- illness, career, kids etc! Then you’ve spent 20 years in a home that’s never felt like your own because you’ve been worrying about an imaginary future buyer. Building a whimsical stained glass potting shed ✨ I am so excited to finally get this project started! I have had so many hurdles to overcome this Winter from freezing temperatures to non-stop rain with no end in sight! It’s finally Spring and finally time to get this done and more exciting for you all because there will be no waiting around to see it finished now! This incredible potting shed is the ‘woodsman’s shed’ by @waltons_garden and I adore it so much! I love that it’s split in two for storage and then another side for your greenhouse. I was really inspired by Swedish houses for the colour and think I also want to paint the inside yellow! I found some beautiful salvaged stained glass to fit on the door and wall on the inside which I’m so excited about 🥹 It’s also going to have a handmade sheep bench! As well as patchwork blinds! I’m on the hunt for the right flooring to go on top of the chipboard and I also need to decide what to grow in the greenhouse section. Any ideas? the rest of the world is watching America I get asked why I care so much about America as someone that doesn’t live there. I mean not only did I care enough to study the US, its history and political system for my degree. And aside from the fact that I think we should care for others all over the world, no matter where they live. I’ve also built a huge American audience over the years and I don’t take that lightly, they are my community and I care for them very much. Yes even the ones who will be reading this post with distain and venom, I do not want to see you get hurt either. I do not want you to realise too late what’s actually happening. I wish you would wake up sooner though. This quote from George Orwell’s 1984 could not be any more relevant than it is right now. Fascism comes quietly at first- that is when it doesn’t seem to be effecting you specifically. It relies on silence, I know my German followers will tell you it’s not an overnight takeover and we need to learn this and learn it fast. It’s biggest power is fear, they want you to be fearful of your neighbours and they want you to to not fight back. Gaining such a large following as a content creator was never something I could have foreseen. I was a politics student at the time I started to grow on here (specialising in US politics). At the time I thought I would do some good in the world- maybe teaching young people history and politics. As time went on I realised how much happier I was being creative, to be working on projects physically and how much I loved social media and I pivoted careers in a totally different direction. Ironically in a way maybe I have more ‘power’ now having a large platform. Maybe just telling people where I stand politically has power. My videos seem to get suppressed if I talk about politics more directly but these type of videos usually get the word out still. It’s not much but I believe I should stand for the things I believe in as a content creator. #trump #uspolitics #minnesota #ice

The most whimsical addition to my vegetable garden🦋 ✨ I’ve been in need of a seat for my little vegetable garden for some time and I can’t believe I found the most perfect bench ever 🥹 There is no end to the joy this is going to bring me and I also love how my husband made me stand with the wings behind me and the antennae above my head! Sometimes it feels like you’ve entered the set of The Wicker Man 🔥 🌱 This celebration was for ‘Jack in the Green’ which takes place in Hastings. It celebrates the arrival of Spring and the return of Summer. We’ve been able to trace it back as early as the 16th century when the milkmaids would parade on May Day with foliage gardens on their heads and milk pails decorated with flowers and ribbons. In the 17th century the chimney sweeps took it over and created the ‘Jack’ who’s basically a walking bush! There are lots of celebrations like this throughout England all over the calendar year and it makes me really happy to go them, it’s a part of my English identity that I actually am proud of! I often think that racism and bigotry in England comes in part from a deep disconnection with our roots. It’s not that our cultural identity isn’t celebrated- but you do need to know where to look! Often the ‘wrong’ things are celebrated, I remember being at school and learning about the British Empire and it was genuinely taught as something we should be proud of. Of course that’s changed a lot now, when I used to work in a high school the curriculum was VERY different. Sometimes it feels like you’ve entered the set of The Wicker Man 🔥 🌱 This celebration was for ‘Jack in the Green’ which takes place in Hastings. It celebrates the arrival of Spring and the return of Summer. If it would suit a fairy then it suits me 🧚 ✨ Sometimes adding a bit of magic and whimsy is as simple as making a dragonfly obelisk so your cucumbers can climb it or adding moons, suns and stars to your kitchen cabinets! The black cat really adds to the celestial magic 🌞✨🌙 I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this vintage fabric on @ebay_uk that not only matched the colour of my kitchen but the celestial vibe too of all my handles! It’s honestly like I was meant to have it and I will treasure this dress so much. This is the first long dress I ever made and I used @theprairiemisfit play frock dress pattern and just increased the length of it! The black cat really adds to the celestial magic 🌞✨🌙 I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this vintage fabric on @ebay_uk that not only matched the colour of my kitchen but the celestial vibe too of all my handles! It’s honestly like I was meant to have it and I will treasure this dress so much. This is the first long dress I ever made and I used @theprairiemisfit play frock dress pattern and just increased the length of it! Poor baby is still battling pneumonia so only the best treatment for sweet Moo 🐶 That was honestly one of the scariest 10 days of my life! It’s been a bit of a rubbish year health wise for my little family, my husband got really sick a few months back and had to have surgery due to internal bleeding (Crohn’s disease). I thought that would maybe be our bad luck for the year but it turns out it wasn’t over yet. Moo went in for a routine spay and unfortunately had a bad reaction to the anti-inflammatory medication she was prescribed. She caught HGE and was in a really bad way having to be hospitalised with fluids and round the clock care but it also turned out that around the same time she had aspirated during her spay surgery and caught pneumonia. So as symptoms started to subside for one condition, the other started to appear. We very nearly lost her if we hadn’t got her to the emergency vets for the second time when we did. She has a particularly nasty case of pneumonia so although she’s allowed home after her hospital stay we are on a long course of antibiotics and weekly check ins until she gets better. She deserves only the princess treatment for the foreseeable and for forever! I’ve had so much support via my messages whilst I’ve been updating you all on the situation via my stories and I’m forever grateful. Poor baby is still battling pneumonia so only the best treatment for sweet Moo 🐶 That was honestly one of the scariest 10 days of my life! I just needed creeping toadflax and snails to adorn my home with 🐌 ✨ I have been wanting to install some wallpaper in this arch for years but the wallpaper I wanted could only be bought in bulk and it wasn’t cheap! It was also very scary too as I knew I would be taking a knife to it and ripping it to have the exposed brickwork on show which I held my breath for! I’ve been saving for so long to get this and I also have a project in mind to use it in another room too 🥹 I love the creeping toadflax and snails so much and I knew it would go so well with the green bookcase and stained glass shutters in this room. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to lean in to your houses unique features. I used to want to get rid of this arch in the wall as I felt like it wasn’t really serving any purpose, that was until I decided to open up the fireplace hearth again and now I love it! I want my spaces to feel practical and serene whilst also making sure they retain plenty of character. Honouring my homes original style and layout is really important to me, I actually love the small cosy rooms and I’m in the process of opening up fireplace walls that have been previously been filled in. I love finding antique hardware, stained glass and items that speak to the time my home was built but I also love carving out a home that works functionally for me, my husband and pets. A hanging loft net isn’t very ‘Victorian’ but it sure is fun for us! I live in a small house in the city but that’s really been my strength! Not only has it made me more creative (when you have smaller rooms you have to think outside the box about how everything works and comes together) but it’s also made me never have to worry about designing a home for a future buyer instead of myself. Homes get snapped up so quickly here that it’s just not been a worry. Initially when I moved in I didn’t see the potential in this house at all and neither did my husband. An 1882 cottage with a big emphasis on character ✨ Adding a sense of whimsy is definitely my main design objective!
