My favourite is when she’s so sleepy but feels like she has to swing by anyway 🐱 ✨ I realised the other week that I never showed how I wake up in the morning. It’s such a small part of my day but it’s always so joyful! My husband wakes up super early so he always gets up with the animals first whilst I sleep in and Mog waits as close to the hatch as she can- sometimes even sleeping 😴 Until my husband brings up my coffee for me to gently wake me up. No matter the day or even if she’s sleeping soundly Mog my calico cat always runs up to greet me and have a cuddle 🥹 Sometimes I’m lucky enough for my husband to carry Moo our Basset Hound up to me too so we can all snuggle in bed together. Ad I feel like I blinked and my senior cat Mango turned 12! I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by. These days she likes to switch between snoozing the day away and still having those kitten-like antics that make me really happy to see. Mango has an interesting story- she was born in the bottom of a wardrobe and I got a call to say would I take in a little kitten in need. I like to say she came to me through the magical cat distribution system because I wasn’t looking for a cat at all at the time. When she was a kitten I fed her @purinauki and I’m now treating her to the same senior food! She gets so excited whenever I put it up and one of my little joys in life is laying underneath it and getting to poke her toe beans and ruffle her belly. Which is a game she really enjoys as she likes to try and get me back! Mog has endless fun watching the birds from the window and swooshing her tail at them (she can’t get them I promise!) girl, get up. This is a comment I get quite often! Whilst I think decor decisions can definitely be something you both have input on in a home, saying your husband would never LET you is something else entirely! It reminds me of one of my first boyfriends who wouldn’t ‘let’ me have blonde hair because it got me ‘too much attention from other men’- I dyed it dark brown for him because I was 18 and stupid and not only did he break up with me less than a month later but my hair started falling out when I subsequently dyed it back blonde 😅 I’m lucky enough to have a husband that knows how much it means to me to be creative in our home and he loves what I love because he knows how happy it makes me. I remember when these hobbies used to make you a ‘hippie’ not a ‘tradwife’ 🫶 I’m someone who constantly wants to learn how to do things myself, who loves to sew and garden and bake from scratch because I feel so many of us are disconnected from this way of life. I love it because it makes me learn how much goes in to these ‘every day’ things like making clothes, growing food and cooking food from scratch. But in this present moment because I do like to do these things I’m being mistaken for a ‘tradwife’ left and right and to add to that I’m also very feminine and love to wear dresses which also doesn’t seem to help currently 😅 You used to be a bit of a hippie if you loved to garden, forage, cook from scratch, had a small holding, make your own clothes etc! I’d like those of us who live a life of those hippie ideals- a life full of peace and love for all to reclaim our rightful position in this space! You don’t need to be ‘tradwife’ to do these things, you can just do them without submission to one’s husband required! I’ll specifiy here because I always find this argument is used to shut conversations down, I’m not targeting this towards any stay at home Mums or wives that like to take up traditional duties in the home. The way he had these commissioned from my favourite pottery artist 🥹 It’s only really recently that I’ve started painting again after being told I wasn’t very good as a teenager and of course I do need plenty of practice but I just adore it. I learnt very quickly though that your paintbrushes are precious and you shouldn’t leave them standing in the water pot! I also wanted something useful I could both mix paint in and pour my paint in to. My husband got me this made for my birthday and it’s so useful, I have somewhere to lay my brushes down whilst I use another as well as having the cutest pallete ever. The future potential buyers won’t appreciate my whimsy ☺️✨ Unless your a house flipper (which is a far cry from what my page is about) then you really don’t need to spend your life worrying about ‘future buyers’. What if you never decorate how you want and get stuck in your current home for the next 20 years because of any reason really- illness, career, kids etc! Then you’ve spent 20 years in a home that’s never felt like your own because you’ve been worrying about an imaginary future buyer. I had this home valued once and I asked the estate agent if my whimsical taste would put off any future buyers and he said not at all. That buyers will most likely want to change the kitchen and bathroom anyway to suit their taste and unless you’ve done crazy things like moving walls to ridiculous places then you will be fine. If it ever came to it I’d paint the walls back to white- not like it would take long or be much effort when it comes to selling. I get endless joy from transforming my home which has completely improved my mental health over the years as well as enjoying the finished product. The future potential buyers won’t appreciate my whimsy ☺️✨ Unless your a house flipper (which is a far cry from what my page is about) then you really don’t need to spend your life worrying about ‘future buyers’. What if you never decorate how you want and get stuck in your current home for the next 20 years because of any reason really- illness, career, kids etc! Then you’ve spent 20 years in a home that’s never felt like your own because you’ve been worrying about an imaginary future buyer. The perfect shape for my homemade bagels 🥯 🌺 ✨ If there’s something I like doing it’s to take the small and mundane every day item like a bread bag and make it whimsical! Because why not make every time you go to eat your bread a magical little ritual? I loved making these flower fairy bags and they are SO quick to make. The hanging loft net is the perfect spot to enjoy Spring ☀️ I know the internet seems to really love Autumn/Winter and I totally get why! But I have to say I love the sunshine and I’ve been enjoying it so much. Getting to watch the leaves turn green and the sun shining high in the sky over the city and next door national park is so magical! With a surprise appearance from the rooftop fox 🦊 Summer evenings from the loft net are truly magical, even above the city its so peaceful up here and always made even better when my friend the rooftop fox comes up amongst the rooftops to take a nap! It’s crazy what can be done with a dust filled attic with no insulation or window or anything isn’t it? Building a whimsical stained glass potting shed ✨ I am so excited to finally get this project started! I have had so many hurdles to overcome this Winter from freezing temperatures to non-stop rain with no end in sight! It’s finally Spring and finally time to get this done and more exciting for you all because there will be no waiting around to see it finished now! This incredible potting shed is the ‘woodsman’s shed’ by @waltons_garden and I adore it so much! I love that it’s split in two for storage and then another side for your greenhouse. I was really inspired by Swedish houses for the colour and think I also want to paint the inside yellow! I found some beautiful salvaged stained glass to fit on the door and wall on the inside which I’m so excited about 🥹 It’s also going to have a handmade sheep bench! As well as patchwork blinds! I’m on the hunt for the right flooring to go on top of the chipboard and I also need to decide what to grow in the greenhouse section. Any ideas? This incredible potting shed is the ‘woodsman’s shed’ by @waltons_garden and I adore it so much! I love that it’s split in two for storage and then another side for your greenhouse. I was really inspired by Swedish houses for the colour and think I also want to paint the inside yellow! I found some beautiful salvaged stained glass to fit on the door and wall on the inside which I’m so excited about 🥹 It’s also going to have a handmade sheep bench! As well as patchwork blinds! I’m on the hunt for the right flooring to go on top of the chipboard and I also need to decide what to grow in the greenhouse section. Any ideas? It’s makes it hard to ever leave ✨ I enjoy my holidays so much but I do find it hard to leave my home behind even just for a little while. I’ve set my home up in such a way that’s it wraps me and my loved ones in a warm hug every time I enter it. the rest of the world is watching America I get asked why I care so much about America as someone that doesn’t live there. I mean not only did I care enough to study the US, its history and political system for my degree. And aside from the fact that I think we should care for others all over the world, no matter where they live. I’ve also built a huge American audience over the years and I don’t take that lightly, they are my community and I care for them very much. Yes even the ones who will be reading this post with distain and venom, I do not want to see you get hurt either. I do not want you to realise too late what’s actually happening. I wish you would wake up sooner though. This quote from George Orwell’s 1984 could not be any more relevant than it is right now. Fascism comes quietly at first- that is when it doesn’t seem to be effecting you specifically. It relies on silence, I know my German followers will tell you it’s not an overnight takeover and we need to learn this and learn it fast. It’s biggest power is fear, they want you to be fearful of your neighbours and they want you to to not fight back. Gaining such a large following as a content creator was never something I could have foreseen. I was a politics student at the time I started to grow on here (specialising in US politics). At the time I thought I would do some good in the world- maybe teaching young people history and politics. As time went on I realised how much happier I was being creative, to be working on projects physically and how much I loved social media and I pivoted careers in a totally different direction. Ironically in a way maybe I have more ‘power’ now having a large platform. Maybe just telling people where I stand politically has power. My videos seem to get suppressed if I talk about politics more directly but these type of videos usually get the word out still. It’s not much but I believe I should stand for the things I believe in as a content creator. #trump #uspolitics #minnesota #ice
