Although, this is an incredibly raw and vulnerable post. I feel like I needed to open up about this and share some context to why I do struggle so much in motherhood. I don’t really talk about this much but it is something that constantly consumes my life and obviously coincides with my depression. At this point I’ve been on the wait list almost 3 years. Either way, I am so incredibly proud of myself for still getting by in life and also opening up to help others feel less alone. Whether you’ve got neurodivergence, mental health issues or just having a shitty time. Please know you are not alone. We’ve just got to take one foot in front of the other. Everything is still very raw and while I’m not ready to share everything yet, I wanted to acknowledge what has happened. I read that after a miscarriage a baby’s cells always stay with the mother, in her heart and brain. Just a mum in her healing era ❤️‍🩹 To some, it may not seem like a big deal but going to the shops on my own and buying some new clothes, trying to find my new mum style is absolutely unheard for me 😂 This marks the start of trying to look after myself more doing everything I can to help my mental health. I found myself just wishing each day away, wishing life away so I’m going to try and start enjoying each day and finding little pockets of joy. Obviously getting my AUDHD diagnosis and help is going to be a huge life changing thing for me but I want to try and do everything I can on my end. Just sprinkling some mum reality and normalising sometimes we are just in survival mode and that’s ok. But if anyone can recommend what to do about co sleeping I’d really appreciate it. He sleeps really well when he’s in the bed with me, but I don’t sleep well! Not sure whether to start this transition now before we move or once we’ve moved. Messy house, we’re always late, I’m awful at cooking and always set the smoke alarm off, i raise my voice more than I care to admit life is chaos. But you know what that’s ok and this version of ‘mum’ that I am is actually so much better. Yes, the mess may be left for days but it’s because I’m having fun playing with Arlo. Yes we may not have had a fresh meal last night but we had so much fun having a late night Maccys instead. You don’t have to have it all together at all to have your shit together, it’s just about juggling and being ok with the fact something is always going to have to slip. I know some people have serious new build phobias and love to share their opinions on my home, but honestly, no house is perfect! For us, this is a huge first step onto a property ladder that feels impossible to climb these days. I’m so proud of this house and can’t wait to add more character.
