A few days ago, a plan was announced to bring 300,000 metric tons of foreign beef into the United States over the next 90 days through a tariff waiver. Years in this industry keep bringing us back to the same truth: quality starts with knowing where your food comes from. Grass-fed, prime, choice, organic, all-natural... these words get thrown around constantly. None of them matter if there's no accountability behind them. And right now, there is very little accountability in what's coming. Nobody knows where this beef is coming from. Nobody knows how the animals were raised, what they were fed, or what antibiotics and vaccines were used. There is no mandatory country of origin labeling for ground beef in this country. Congress repealed that in 2015, which means this beef can sit next to American beef in your grocery store with no obligation to tell you anything about it. This isn't alarmism. History is just worth paying attention to. In 2013, Europe went through a massive food fraud scandal when products labeled as beef tested anywhere from 30 to 100% horse meat. The package said beef. It wasn't beef. This happened because supply chains got too long, oversight got thin, and accountability broke down. The cattle markets dropped sharply the morning this announcement came out. American ranchers who have spent years rebuilding their herds after drought and rising costs are now competing against government-subsidized foreign beef coming in below market price. The National Cattlemen's Beef Association called it unsustainable, and they're right. At Good Ranchers, the position has always been clear. Every product is American born, raised, and harvested. No antibiotics, no added hormones. Pay attention to what's on your label. If it doesn't tell you where your beef came from, ask why.
We want to share a story about Charlie Kirk that most people would never know. Charlie was the very first sponsor Good Ranchers ever had. At that time, we were just a young family trying to build a business with more hope than resources. We first met him backstage at a small church in Houston. We were pregnant with our 4th baby, and life felt overwhelming. Charlie believed in us when he had no reason to. That belief was a lifeline. When we launched online in 2021, Charlie did ad reads for us on his show and promoted us on social media without charging anything extra. No long-term deal, no big contract. Just generosity. Later, when one of our biggest competitors came to him with a massive budget, Charlie told his team no. He told them to call us first. He did not have to do that. But he did. Charlie cared more about small business and the American dream than a paycheck. That kind of loyalty is rare, and it changed everything for us. To us, Charlie was not just a political figure. He was a husband, a father, a Christian, and someone whose character shaped the way he lived. Charlie stood for faith, freedom, family, and the American dream. His life and legacy mattered, and they still matter. We will never forget what he did for us. Thank you, Charlie.
This morning, President Trump announced action against the four companies that dominate American beef processing and signaled he wants to give ranchers more freedom to process their own product. Two of those four processors are controlled by foreign corporations. More competition in processing is a step in the right direction, and we support it. But if the goal is actually to lower prices for American families, the most direct path is mandatory country of origin labeling. Without it, imported beef enters our supply chain, sits beside American beef in your grocery store, gets blended into ground beef, and is sold without any obligation to tell you where it came from. There is nothing requiring the savings from cheaper imported beef to be passed along to you. Give consumers transparency and let them choose. That is how a free market is supposed to work. Competition only functions when people know what they are choosing between. We can support a president when he gets it right and respectfully challenge him when we believe he gets it wrong. That is not political. That is the job. Break the processing bottleneck. Bring back mandatory country of origin labeling. Give every American, Republican, Democrat, independent, or libertarian, the right to know where their food comes from.
Well-done is for good and faithful servants. Not steak.
Trump's recent plan to import 300,000 metric tons of ground beef to curb rising beef costs is another glaring reason why we need to keep fighting for Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling. You deserve to know where your meat is coming from.
you know whats not giving you the explosive diarrhea parasite? steak.

@HerbsandDirt Yes! Anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
If this last week showed us anything, it's that consumers actually do care where their food comes from. Given the choice, they'll support the American rancher every time.
