The hype is real.

I finally made the drive out to Wickenburg to try La Hamburguesa from Capital Farms, and I can confidently say this burger lives up to every bit of buzz it’s been getting.

What surprised me most is how close it actually is. Most Phoenix folks talk about Wickenburg like it’s a full-blown road trip, but it’s an easy drive and well worth it for a burger this good.

Capital Farms isn’t just a burger spot—it’s a butcher shop and ranch-to-table operation built around their Arizona-raised Corriente beef. Their cattle are grass-fed and grain-finished, and you can buy everything from steaks and roasts to ground beef, jerky, and burger patties right from their shop in Wickenburg.

As for La Hamburguesa?

The combination of the jalapeño smash patty, roasted green chile, Oaxaca cheese, green chile aioli, and a toasted Noble Bread bun absolutely works. The spice level was right in my wheelhouse, the cheese was ridiculously creamy, and every bite had that perfect balance of heat, richness, and texture.

I’ve eaten a lot of burgers around Arizona, and this is one I’ll be thinking about for a while.

I’ve lived in Arizona for years, and somehow this was my first visit to Cheese N Stuff. For those who don’t know, this Phoenix sandwich shop has been serving up sandwiches since 1949, making it one of the true old-school food institutions in the Valley. And I happened to stop by at the perfect time. They’re currently hosting their first-ever Summer Showdown, featuring two brand-new sandwiches battling it out for a spot on the menu through the end of summer. 🥑 The Verde 🍅 The Biltmore I tried both, and while they’re each bringing something completely different to the table, The Verde was the clear winner for me. The combination of slow-roasted chicken, avocado, roasted green chiles, crispy jalapeños, and cilantro-lime crema is right in my wheelhouse. The best part? You get to decide. Wood-fired roasted pork. Serrano peppers. Pineapple. Cooked in one of my favorite pizza ovens in the state and served at one of my favorite pizzerias of all time.

The sweet heat combination is absolutely ridiculous.

@belfrybrewery Cottonwood, Az Belfry is a true beer lovers dream in what is considered Az wine county.

@desertmonksbrewing Gilbert, Az although located in the heart of Gilbert, Desert Monks has a quiet footprint in the Az beer scene but an absolute must visit space for any beer lover!

@smeltertownbrewery Clarkdale, Az very well known brewery amongst Az beer enthusiasts and rightfully so. Fantastic beer and an awesome space with a boutique hotel located just upstairs.

@lochielbrewing Mesa, Az you might literally think this place is hidden. Not easy to find, but very well known in the niche market of traditional Scottish beer lovers.

@thatbrewery Pine, Az a versatile space to keep you warm in the winter or fun in the sun for summer time with an outdoor sand volleyball court.

@8bitaleworks Avondale, Az off the beaten path and a video game lovers dream come true.

That’s how I ended up at Chariot Pizza in Tucson. Tucked into a Circle K parking lot, full dive bar energy — old wood bar top, pool tables, zero frills… aka exactly my kind of spot. Ordered a pepperoni and yeah… this thing is an absolute banger. Crispy, cheesy, no nonsense — just straight up good pizza. Penelope pizza in Tucson is an absolute must visit spot for any pizza lover!

This has easily become one of my must-visit pizza spots in Arizona. The vibe inside is awesome, the pizzas are ridiculously good, and the whole place just has that energy where you instantly know you picked the right spot.

I loved all of the pizzas, but the star of the show was the Sunnis Side with sausage, onion, egg, Cholula maple drizzle! Absolutely dynamite!

Tucson seriously has some sneaky good pizza spots… and Penelope is absolutely one of them.

Scored their pepperoni & cheese lunch slice, and it was straight 🔥. Crisp crust, classic sauce, clean execution.

You think you’re walking into a cozy neighborhood coffee shop, and then Friday night rolls around and they’re putting out legit Detroit-style pizzas.

Crispy edges, thick fluffy crust, tons of flavor… the kind of pizza that makes you stop and say “wait, this is coming from a coffee shop?”

Honestly, it’s just cool to see a local spot doing something different and doing it really well.
Good people, great vibe, and now a reason to be there on Friday nights too.

One of my favorite things is finding spots that do something completely unexpected… and Happy Joe Coffee is exactly that. You think you’re walking into a cozy neighborhood coffee shop, and then Friday night rolls around and they’re putting out legit Detroit-style pizzas. Crispy edges, thick fluffy crust, tons of flavor… the kind of pizza that makes you stop and say “wait, this is coming from a coffee shop?” Honestly, it’s just cool to see a local spot doing something different and doing it really well. I came up to Prescott for a golf trip and left wondering why nobody told me about this place sooner.

If you’ve ever been to Trevor’s here in the Valley, walking into Park Plaza Liquor and Deli feels oddly familiar. Turns out that’s not a coincidence. Park Plaza was founded by Trevor Phillips, the same Trevor behind the Trevor’s concept many Phoenix locals know today.

Part liquor store. Part craft beer destination. Part neighborhood hangout. And somehow also home to some seriously good wood-fired pizza. The concept is unique, but the pizza is what kept me talking about it long after the round was over.

I’ve eaten a lot of pizza around Arizona, and after this visit I’m comfortable saying this:

In my opinion, this is the best pizza Prescott has to offer.

The atmosphere is cool, the beer selection is ridiculous, and it’s exactly the kind of place I’d become a regular at if I lived up north.
