July in Colorado is a special season, as the hardest places to reach in the state put on their most beautiful display of the year for such a short time, creating an urgency to go go go and hit as many places as you can before it’s too late. From the expansive lupine fields of Crested Butte to the paintbrush covered meadows at 12,000 feet in the San Juans, there’s truly nothing quite like it. I learned about fundraising in a way that protects mental health, about building a career that stays aligned with your mission, and about speaking boldly on topics people are often too afraid to touch. The trip itself was beautiful. We practiced accessible yoga together, adventured on a giant paddle board, and had open and honest conversations that will stick with me forever. I came home with a renewed sense of purpose and understanding of the community that I serve and am a part of.
