I love modular consoles like this mini SSL4000E by @mark1_pro_audio
Should i talk about stuff like this more often?

I love creating that first version of the mix where i can use all of my outboard gear to shape the sound into where i want it to be.
But then come the revisions… and i know they’re important to get the record right, but i hate my workflow there.
That’s because when i use my outboard gear to make mix v1, i commit the hardware gear so i don’t have to physically recall that gear anymore. That way i can open up the project anywhere i am and i know it sounds exactly the same.
But that does mean from the moment i commit that hardware gear, all i do is done with a mouse and keyboard.
Very boring…

Should i move to hardware controllers? maybe those @solidstatelogic units with the SSL 360 software would be a good way of creating a hybrid workflow, should i give that a shot? lmk!

Tried not to get new gear @superbooth_berlin but i might have failed…
Here’s my top picks:
1. @solidstatelogic Alpha 8: 8 line level ins and outs on adat, spdif if you wanna extend or as a standalone 32bit interface over usb C! Also, i did not know the Bus+ was that versatile!
2. @cranborneaudio Bricklane compressor. One comp to rule them all? Pulse Width Modulation based compressor That can act like a FET,VCA,VariMu,Opto, you name it! Hoping they create a rack unit with digital recall in the near future, because i need this on my mixbus!
3. Tetris meets acoustic treatment: Sessiondesk SessionBlox. Thanks @sessiondesk for letting me Beta test them!
4. Might need these @audeze_official LCD MX4 while the studio is being built.
5. @trinnov Nova & @heddaudio A-Core. Obviously i first need to do my acoustics, but maybe after that it’s time to see what a Trinnov system can do. Also, HEDD released the A core series, which are the same MK2 monitor i already have of them, but then without the DSP processing, making them a bit cheaper and maybe more realistic for a future atmos setup? Who knows…
6. I mean a @rupert_neve 5088 is cool, but a LEGO NEVE 5088?! If anybody knows where i can get my hands on one of them, holla at ya boy!
7. @harrisonaudio 32Classic MS MixStrip. Very fun unit to play with because of the Routing option which enables you to cascade and sum the channels together so you could actually turn 8 of these into a sidecar like my mini ssl. The name couldve gone through a couple more rounds of revisions tho, sorry…
8. @audio_merge Filters. Their take on the Altec 9069B filter. Very fun to play around with and not gear you see every day!
9. What if i told you you could have 12 channels of your favorite analog equipment, digitally recallable, in a 1u rack unit and you can hot swap modules in and out. @karnosound SEPIA is a gamechanger!
10. @klanghabitat has fun saturation units, very simple but the demo sounded great! Trying out their plugin now, hopefully able to compare to the real deal soon!

Finally had a reason to clean my studio🫠

After 25 different designs, 200 planks of wood, over 100 metres of fabric and a lot of troubleshooting and getting a little too friendly with the bottom of my wallet, @studio993ams is finally here! Been working from this room for a couple of months now and i have to say it does feel like home. Please don’t be a stranger and slide in my dm if you want to work, hang or play some videogames (i’ve got Need for Speed Underground 1 AND 2!!) see you soon❤️

How often did i say sibilance?😅
Regular de essers can often sound a bit unnatural and manual de essing takes way too much time. But this feature inside Melodyne is such a lifesaver!
Oh and this post is not sponsored, also nice to point out sometime. (still @celemony_ slide in a DM)

What would you do? The new fully analog @heddaudio A core into the Apollo 16 or keep everything digital with the Mk2’s and an Audient ORIA?
