After 18 years, we’re essentially a really, really, really good looking old married couple. Happy 55 to the best podcasting partner a guy could hope for @chuckthepodcaster (Jeri says Happy Birthday too 😊)

Happiest Birthday to my brother from another mother, MR. JOSHUA CLARK. It's been a wild ride over the past 17 years. Neither of us ever expected this amazing life when our boss tapped him on the shoulder so long ago and said "I have an idea." And I wouldn't be here at all if Josh didn't lobby for me to have a shot as rotational co-host and then put his foot down for my permanent spot. He's smart and funny, wry and clever. He loves his wonderful wife and his Momo and if you knew him like we know him, you'd love him too. So let's all raise a figurative glass in his honor today - sound off on your favorite funny Josh moment in the comments and show him some love!

All those to-go cups and food containers aren’t actually Styrofoam but those cups and Styrofoam are both forms of foam polystyrene, one of the rare materials that isn’t biodegradable. Which is a problem, because we make – and throw away – so much of it.

Today we salute Jane Goodall and her life’s work and advocacy. We got an email from @peta and would love to share their statement…

A long and fine life led. Jane Goodall was a gifted scientist and trailblazer who forever changed the way we view our fellow animals. Caring about all animals, she went vegan after reading Animal Liberation, and helped PETA with many campaigns, calling her 1986 visit to a Maryland laboratory full of chimpanzees in barren isolation chambers “the worst experience of my life.” We could always count on her to be on the animals’ side, whether she was urging UPS to stop shipping hunting trophies, calling for SeaWorld’s closure, or a shutdown of the Oregon National Primate Research Center. More information about Goodall’s advocacy for animals is on PETA’s website. PETA will be planting a monkey puzzle tree in the memorial garden at PETA headquarters in her honor.

We all love to tour our generation’s superiority, but who decides where the split occurs and what to name it? And is this even a thing or just an arbitrary division?

During Vietnam, the U.S. lowered the IQ standards for the draft in order to bulk up their front lines. This put thousands of men in harm’s way and was a complete disaster. It was called project 100,000.

It seems ridiculously irresponsible with the benefit of hindsight, but the concept of giving Hitler everything he wanted was the policy among the UK and France as a way to keep the world from sliding into a second world war. Turns out it didn’t work.

Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan were one of the most amazing non-magical duos in history. Imagine living trapped in your own mind – unable to see or hear – and then imagine learning to read, traveling the world, and becoming an ambassador of peace.

One of the most bizarre stories to emerge from the cult radio show Coast to Coast AM – and that’s really saying something – isn’t about UFOs or bigfoot, but a mysterious hole in the ground with some very unusual properties. Top that, History Channel!

The story of Doggerland is pretty fascinating. The idea is that mainland Europe and the UK were connected not only by a land bridge, but a place where plants, animals and even humans, thrived.

The concept of hospice was created as a way to help people with only a few weeks to live spend their last days comfortable an surrounded by friends and family in the hope they can pass away peacefully. It’s kind of crazy hospice was ever a radical idea.

In 2014 a ferry carrying hundreds of South Korean high school students on a field trip sunk, killing almost everyone on board. Hauntingly, their deaths were fully avoidable: everyone from the dock inspector to the Coast Guard to the president failed them.

Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur had a famous beef with one another in the mid-90s. It was so intense, it sparked an even wider rivalry between the East and West Coasts. In just a few years, both men had been murdered and the music world was changed forever.

Back in the early 1900s, a new pandemic happened out of nowhere with odd symptoms, that was never solved or cured. It just went away. Which means it’s right up our alley.
