A bit of studded belt history (hint: it’s older than punk). The studded belt started the way that we know it in the US in the 1950s with bikers and greasers. They hand-studded their belts so people would think twice about messing with them. Then punk picked it up in the late 1970s and so on and so forth with many alt subcultures now wearing studded belts. When you put on a studded belt you’re wearing over 70 years of outsider history. I should add that there is earlier history of studded belts just outside the alt subculture space.
