Green is a goth color! Probably even the most goth! The reason I think this is pretty morbid. For about a hundred years it was quietly killing people.
The most wanted green of the 1800s was made with arsenic. They put it in wallpaper, dresses, fake flowers. People were poisoning themselves in their own bedrooms.
Add absinthe to that. The green fairy everyone swore would drive you crazy and green became the color that either poisoned you or drove you mad. People wanted it anyway! 🤘🏻
Why is green goth? Green is the only color that’s alive and dying at the same time. Leaves and mold. Growth and rot in the same pigment. That’s about as goth as a color gets IMO.

A bit of studded belt history (hint: it’s older than punk).
The studded belt started the way that we know it in the US in the 1950s with bikers and greasers. They hand-studded their belts so people would think twice about messing with them. Then punk picked it up in the late 1970s and so on and so forth with many alt subcultures now wearing studded belts. When you put on a studded belt you’re wearing over 70 years of outsider history. I should add that there is earlier history of studded belts just outside the alt subculture space. Didn’t cover that in this video.

Some people think a battle jacket or vest is just random patches. But a battle jacket says something about you!
Your back patch is the anchor. You fill in the rest with smaller patches, buttons, pins, studs, safety pins. There’s no wrong way to build one except to expect it to ever be “done.” I’m currently reworking my grey denim jacket to be black and white.

If you only know The Misfits, you’re missing a huge part of horror punk. @officialblitzkid was one of the bands that pulled me deeper into the genre. Their vocals and songwriting are unmatched in my opinion. They also completely changed the course of my life.
