Growing up Diwali was my favorite time of year, my mum and grandma would be cooking for days if not weeks before getting the diwali snacks and sweets ready, they loved hosting, decorating, lighting candles everywhere - it was the whole family getting together, going to each other’s houses eating, fireworks, praying together and filling our space with light love and our bellies with the BEST food. As i’ve grown up I’ve started valuing carrying on traditions as a way to keep them with me, at times I don’t get to celebrate it with them. And I absolutely love that now Diwali is so widely recognised by brands like @potterybarn making it so easy to host and build a table scape that represents our culture so beautifully.
