According to Allstate’s 2026 America’s Best Drivers Report, Boston has been ranked the most collision-prone city in the U.S. for the 11th straight year. The average Boston driver is involved in a collision every 3.76 years, making them 189% more likely to crash than the national average, according to the report. The @lowerallstoncatstroll is happening September 19, inviting people on a free, parade-style walk through the neighborhood to find cats posted up in windows and on porches along the way. The stroll is also designed to get neighbors exploring Lower Allston, discovering local businesses and meeting the people, and apparently cats, who live around them. The legislation also allows cities and towns to create public drinking districts where alcohol can be consumed outdoors, similar to programs seen in other major event destinations. State officials say the move is designed to help Massachusetts capitalize on a summer expected to bring hundreds of thousands of visitors for the FIFA World Cup, Sail Boston, and America 250 celebrations. But, not every community will automatically participate. Local governments will decide whether to opt in to the extended hours and outdoor drinking zones.
