People always ask me how did you convince your parents to let you dress like that. Let’s be so real my parents have never liked the way I dress - they’ve always made comments about it. At the end of the day I try my best to dress more modestly around them but as a slender curvy woman sometimes I can’t help the way clothes fit. Growing up I was always shamed about my body being curvy and skinny at the same time and as I’ve gotten older I’ve finally learned to love my body so I honour that by dressing how I want and no longer feeling ashamed for how I look. There is nothing inherently s3xua1 about how I dress - it’s the way society s3xua1izes our bodies. Why would I be ashamed of how I look? It’s the culture that needs to change cause it upholds shameful ideologies.

I know I’ll never be able to make my parents fully happy and proud about my decisions and I’ve learned to be okay with that. We grew up in very different cultures so we have different views on things like clothing. It’s just the way it is 🤷🏽‍♀️

Send this to the man in your life who helps you shop 😍Or to the one that needs to step up their game 😂 I think I speak for majority of women when I say we LOVE when our men take genuine interest in shopping with us. We want to hear your honest opinions (obviously in a kind constructive way). We get so happy when you tell us you love something or that it looks good on us. There is nothing more unattractive then when your man is uninterested, bored, sitting outside or rushing you.

Whenever I talk about being childfree I’m always met with some sort of judgement. As if I don’t know what I’m talking about or I don’t know what’s best for me.

I always get told:
“What if your husband changes his mind in the future and he wants kids?”
“You don’t know true love until you have kids”
“You don’t want kids? But you’d be such a good mother”

Instead of supporting my decision I’m constantly being asked to explain myself and made to feel like I don’t know what I’m talking about. It’s frustrating to say the least. Having kids is a choice. If ppl who want kids expect excitement, encouragement and support on their journey is it unfair for childfree people to ask for the same?

As someone who is still considered skinny it’s actually been crazy to see the amount of comments I’ve been getting and the amount of content that’s on my feed encouraging me to be even skinnier. I was naturally skinny my entire life and I can tell you the grass isn’t greener on the other side. Skinny doesn’t always equal healthy. The body shaming comments won’t stop. You won’t feel better about yourself. I encourage you to stop focusing on being skinny and start focusing on being the healthiest version of yourself. Your body is not a trend and the only reason this narrative is pushed is because hungry unconfident women are easier to control and profit from. Don’t fall for the trap ✌🏽

When I tell you I was STRESSED OUT trying to find some family friendly swimwear that was appropriate but also cute. As a brown girl with a big chest I’ve always been shamed for the way my body looks. I’ve been made to feel like I’m constantly dressing provocatively even when I’m not - I’m just a curvy girl. So the thought of wearing a swimsuit around my family made me feel really nervous cause I obviously didn’t want to look a certain way. Thankfully I found some really cute pieces that also made me feel beautiful.

What do you think - should I dye my greys or keep them?

Personally at this point in my life I love my greys - I feel like they’re what makes me me! At the end of the day the beauty regimens we decide to keep up with is personal preference and for me I dyeing my hair is just one of those things I can’t be bothered to do. As a woman it frustrates me that we’re constantly pressured to look a certain way and to never age. I say eff what society has to say and do you ✌🏽🥰

It’s not selfish to say you don’t want kids cause you don’t want your body to change. Pregnancy and child rearing takes such a huge toll on a woman’s body - it will never be the same again and I’m not just talking about the way it looks I’m also talking about the way it functions. On top of that if you’re already dealing with a preexisting condition/illness/disability it can be even more taxing and overwhelming to now relearn your body when you’ve probably already spent years trying to cope. Having kids is a choice not a requirement and either path you choose to go down is not selfish

I often get asked how does my husband deal with my PMDD and at first he wasn’t the best at dealing with it. But to be honest neither was I. While he didn’t always know how to care for me I also didn’t know how I wanted to be supported. As children of immigrants we didn’t really get to see what a healthy relationship looked like because our parents were too busy living in survival mode. As a result of that our communication SUCKED and it took us both a lot of time and effort to learn how to communicate our needs/wants in a healthy way so we could show up for each other. But we got there!

I share this because often times we see “happy” couples online and in reality for a lot of us we had to work hard to get there. Not all of us had the privilege of inheriting emotional intelligence. But that doesn’t mean we can’t put in the work to figure it out and break free from the toxic cycles! That’s what we did and I hope this gives you hope that you can too 🥰

My parents have always had something to say about the way I dress even when the outfit is completely appropriate. I’ve noticed that I can’t escape their preconceived notions about me no matter how much I’ve grown and changed as a person. Often times they will view me as someone I used to be or define me by certain experiences. I just let them think what they want and continue to do what I want cause I can’t be bothered to seek approval and validation anymore 😌✌🏽
