[ send this to someone who you want to visit with ] Can you believe there is an actual hobbit house located just 45 minutes from Minneapolis? This one-of-a-kind fully underground hobbit house is in my opinion THE most unique stay in the state of Wisconsin. Built in 1972, by local St. Croix Valley Architect Michael McGuire, this home has recently been updated by the current owner and styled in a beautiful aesthetic. The home is recognized by the Wisconsin Historical Society. McGuire was fond of Frank Lloyd Wright and you can see his inspiration with all of the original built in wood furniture still in tact. There are several unique features including five large skylight bubbles in the ceiling which is the ground above where you can watch and hear deer, bunnies, and squirrels walk on top of the home. Originally built in the 1800’s, this building provided flour to the community of northern Michigan for nearly a century! It then sat vacant for over 30 years before a team came in and saw the potential. It has been painstakingly restored as a fresh gathering spot/coffee shop/restaurant/lounge.
