Where to eat and get awesome water views of Seattle. ⬇️ Save this for later!
.
There’s nothing I love more than dining al fresco when it’s summer in Seattle. There are a bunch of restaurants on the water, but not all are created equal in terms of being worth the price for the views *and* food. If you’re wondering the spots that are the best combo of both, here are my favorites:
.
@aerlumeseattle (Downtown)
@anchoviesandsalt (Renton)
@ascendprimebellevue (Bellevue)
@littlewatercantina (Eastlake)
@mbarsea (SLU)
@curb_cuisine (West Seattle)
@theloupelounge (Downtown) - open fall-spring
@maximilienrestaurant (Downtown)
@themountaineeringclub (U-District)
@oldstovebeer (Downtown)
@thepinkdoorrestaurant (Downtown)
@placepigalle (Downtown)
@raysboathouse (Ballard)
@saintbreadseattle (U-District)
@stonehouseseattle (Rainier Beach)
@westwardseattle (Eastlake)
@whiteswanpublichouse (SLU)
 @eatwoven (Tacoma)

Did you know there’s a Waterfall Garden hidden right in Seattle? ⬇️ Save this for your next adventure!
.
I used to work near Pioneer Square in my early 20s. My coworkers and I loved to go pick up sandwiches at Tat’s or Salumi and bring them to the Waterfall Garden Park. This little garden is tucked inside what looks like a building, but there are no doors and when you walk in you realize it’s a little courtyard with plants, seating, and a 22-foot waterfall.
.
This “pocket park” was created by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. You’ll see a placard on the building that calls it “UPS Park” because it sits on the first UPS headquarters in Seattle that opened in 1907. It’s a great place to relax and snap photos because it feels like you’re in an indoor-outdoor conservatory!
.
HOW TO FIND IT: Navigate to The Pastry Project and it’ll be right across the street! There are diagonal street parking spots in front of it.
.

Share this with someone who loves animals ⬇️. They’re going to want to cross this Seattle-area farm off their bucket list!
.
You all know I absolutely love supporting and visiting local farms. @luckiefarms in Lake Stevens about 45 minutes north of Seattle reached out to me about visiting last year, but I told them I’d add them to my list as I make the rounds. However, when I collabed with @discoversnoco in April for a trip to share more of beautiful Snohomish County with you (more to come on that trip soon!), I asked them to include Luckie Farms on the itinerary. Luckie provided us a complimentary visit, but this reel isn’t part of my Snohomish County partnership. I just loved my experience and think it’s something you should know about, especially if you love animals or have kids!
.
Warning: You may not be able to handle the cuteness that Luckie Farms has to offer. Owners Tara and Scott left their city lives to start a farm that marries Tara’s love of education with both of their ancestral roots in farming. But this isn’t just any farm with your typical produce. It’s one full of animals, most notably Scottish highland cows.
.
Visitors get a chance to walk the farm, take a tractor to feed the cows, and interact with other animals like alpacas, donkeys, horses, pigs, bunnies, and reindeer. You’ll also have the option to add on a calf-cuddle experience for ~$20pp. I highly recommend you do this, as you’ll get to pet, brush, and snuggle with highland cows that are as young as 6 weeks old for 20 minutes! All in you’ll spend ~$55pp if you do both the tour and cuddle.
.
Overall I loved my visit to Luckie Farms. Yes, feeding the cows was a bit challenging for me because they’re messy and I hate getting my hands dirty, but it was a small price to pay for a surreal up-close experience. I thought I’d also struggle because I’m allergic to hay, but I was totally fine because they use chips in the cuddle area. I can’t wait to go back!
.

This may be the only brunch spot hidden in Pike Place Market that isn’t swarming with tourists. ⬇️ Save this for your next weekend out!
.
As a local, I tend to avoid @pikeplacepublicmarket on weekends to give tourists space to explore this gem of an attraction. However, I found myself there this past weekend because Dan’s cousin is visiting and wanted to get brunch near her downtown hotel. I was racking my brain for somewhere that either took reservations or wouldn’t be swarming with people, and then remembered hearing that @cancanseattle, a fun cabaret show I’d been to and enjoyed, opened a brunch and dinner spot called @cancansdressingroom. So we made a reservation and held our breath, hoping we would be able to fight the throngs of people.
.
Like we expected, Pike Place was bumping at 11 am on a Sunday. However, The Dressing Room is tucked off the street within a building off Post Alley. All of the people disappeared as soon as we entered the building, so I knew we found something special.
.
Once inside you’re met with over-the-top glam decor fitting of a cabaret. Think a ton of pink, gems, velvet, and bold patterns. We sat inside, but I didn’t realize they have an adorable outdoor patio. What a hidden gem right in the market!
.
Food wise, I got the fried chicken and beignets because I’d remembered getting the beignets at The Can Can Cabaret show and loving them. Dan got the Can Can Madame, a play on a Croque Madame.
.
We loved both dishes. The fried chicken has great crisp and a delightful peppery flavor. While the beignets could use an anglaise sauce, they were excellent on their own. Lemony, fluffy, and addictive. The Can Can Madame was my fave, though. The pork belly fell apart with a fork and it had a perfect balance of acidic mustard, fatty meat, and creaminess thanks to the bechamel and gruyere cheese.
.
All in all, I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about The Dressing Room. Definitely give them a try the next time you need a last-minute brunch reservation downtown!

Would you wait in line at this famous Seattle spot? ⬇️
.
It took me a long time to visit @ludis_seattle after it re-opened because I was nervous about the long lines it draws, especially on weekends. Since I’m rarely downtown on weekdays, I kept putting it off. However, I finally changed that on a rainy Friday I found myself downtown.
.
Ludi’s is a Filipino breakfast spot near Pike Place Market. You’ll know you found it when you see the line of people snaking down the block. I felt lucky the day I went because there were only about 10 groups in front of me. It still took about 30 minutes, which wasn’t bad, but was also longer than I expected giving the relatively short line.
.
Once inside you order at the register and then find a seat. There’s a table with condiments and a ton of vintage paraphernalia to look at while you wait for your meal.
.
We ordered a kare kare meat special, the combo-silog plate, and the Insta-famous ube pancakes. While I prefer the kare kare I’ve had at other places, the other two dishes were really good. The pancakes are huge and have a satisfying spongey/fluffy consistency thanks to rice flour. The ube is really pronounced and the coconut adds a nutty, just-right sweetness to the dish. Plus they’re a vibrant purple, so they’re great for photos.
.
My favorite dish was the humble combo-silog plate. It comes with 1 porkchop, 1 longanisa, 1 Ilocos longanisa, and 1 lumpia. The lumpia was some of the juiciest I’ve had and the fried wrapper had great crunch. But the low-key best thing? The longanisas sausages. they were SO fatty and complex, especially when you got a bite with garlic rice and runny egg. Definitely make sure these make it on your table.
.
All in all I enjoyed Ludi’s, especially because the owner, Gregorio “Tito Greg”, stops by every table to make sure you’re alright. Definitely go on a weekday for a late lunch or super early breakfast to reduce the wait! I’d def go again if the wait was ~30m or less.

Save this Seattle restaurant for later: ⬇️ You’ll want to visit when the pasta craving hits!
.
Have you ever seen that adorable white house-turned-restaurant in downtown Ballard? That’s San Fermo and it’s hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle. Not only are the vibes immaculate thanks to its historic building and outdoor patios, but the food is always well executed.
.
You’ll find a lot of rotating small plates, ranging from salads, veggies, and more. Don’t miss the Farinata, which is a super addictive chickpea flatbread with grill marks.
.
For mains there are a few entrees, but San Fermo is probably best known for their pasta. At any given time there are a bunch of options, but you’ll always find the saffron spaghetti bolognese. It’s meaty, earthy, and has a lot of complexity for being such a humble dish. No matter what you order, make sure this ends up on your table!
.
Lastly, don’t sleep on dessert. They make one of the best tiramisu’s in the city! It’s light on the booze and extra creamy.
.
All in all, San Fermo is one of my go-tos for a date night or special night out with friends or loved ones. San Fermo also has a farm in Skagit Valley where they host dinners. I’m hoping to make it up there for one of them because I bet the setting is just as dreamy as their restaurant!

I’m hoping to make it up there for one of them because I bet the setting is just as dreamy as their restaurant! . Comment “ITALIAN” and I’ll DM you the link to my full list of favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle ➡️ https://www.emeraldpalate.com/best-italian-restaurants-in-seattle/ . What are some of your favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle? I’d love to hear in the comments!

I’ve been going to @ciudadseattle for years and to this day I think it’s one of the most consistent restaurants in the city, both in terms of flavor and price. Nowadays they have more outdoor seating inviting you into the space, but back in the day it mostly looked like a grab-and-go spot because you can only see the grill counter from the front entry. But walk through the metal door next to it and you’ll be met with a vibrant, light-filled space perfect for a date night or group gathering. And since the cuisine is Portuguese grill with Middle Eastern influences, you’ll find a lot of items for all types of palates (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.).
.
While I’m slightly devastated they got rid of their lamb kofta meatballs, some of the staples on their menu that I order again and again include their dip sampler, cauliflower appetizer, and halloumi starter. They’re all always super flavorful, balancing sweet, savory, earthy, and acidic all in one bite.
.
From the grill, you can’t go wrong with any of their items. The chicken and steak are classics, but I love their octopus and shrimp. They also have veggies for those who want to stay away from the meat. Whatever you choose, don’t miss their sauce sides. My favorites are the chimichurri, lemon garlic aioli, and harissa, but there are a bunch to choose from.
.
All in all, if you haven’t been to Ciudad, you’re missing out. They’re one of my top 5 restaurants in Seattle hands down!

I saw someone share @‌themusewhiskey in @visiteverett on Instagram last year. When I collabed with @discoversnoco for a trip to share more of beautiful Snohomish County with you (see yesterday’s reel for details!), I asked them to include The Muse on the itinerary. This reel isn’t part of my partnership with them...in fact, the staff at The Muse staff didn’t know I was coming. I just loved my experience and think it’s a hidden gem you should know about!
.
The Muse Whiskey & Coffee is located inside a 100-year-old building right along the Everett waterfront about 45 minutes north of Seattle. It was once the mill headquarters for the Weyerhaeuser Company, but @portofeverett and NGMA Group refurbished it and now it’s home to The Muse, a community gathering space that overlooks Boxcar Park.
.
I could have spent hours photographing the building. There are a bunch of room with beautiful crown molding and original details. You’ll even find a gorgeous vault that they turned into a wine cellar! If it’s a cozy day you can find a nook and enjoy the ambiance from one of their picture windows. Or sit out on the back deck to watch people fly kites in the park or lounge on the beach.
.
The Muse is an all day cafe that has pastries, hearty dishes, coffee drinks, and alcoholic beverages. We’d just gotten lunch before heading here so didn’t heat, but I had an exceptional chai tea and colorful cocktail that was a play on a French 75. It was so beautiful that some ladies sitting next to us saw me taking pics and were inspired to get it!
.
All in all, The Muse will be one of my go-to stops whenever I’m in Everett. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their food and drinks. If you’ve been, comment telling me what I should order next time!
.

Save this for your next day trip: ⬇️ A speakeasy hidden in the most unexpected small town outside Seattle.
.
Long-time followers know I love the Skagit Valley, an area about an hour north of Seattle known for cute small towns, farms, and great food. I’m always keeping tabs of what’s happening in the area, so when I heard the owners of beloved @railroadpubandpizza and @trainwreckbarandgrill opened @speakeasy.saloon, I knew I had to visit.
.
Speakeasy Saloon is a hidden bar right in the small downtown area of Burlington. You enter via a nondescript door into a space that looks like a barber shop. You need to find the door into the bar, which opens into a room that looks like a posh medieval basement.
.
Drink wise you’ll find cocktails, wine, beer, and a few non-alcoholic options. I ordered the Speakeasy Sour with bourbon, egg white, and lemon sour. It was simple, yet so refreshing and balanced.
.
Speakeasy Saloon also has a hefty food menu. I didn’t get a chance to eat there because I went to Railroad Pizza for dinner beforehand (which is yummy btw), but they have dishes like a smash burger, deviled eggs, poutine, seafood roll, and cake I’m interested in trying the next time I visit. And since the vibes are immaculate, I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in the area!

NEW SERIES: 8 best things I ate in January ⬇️. Comment your best bite of the past month!
.
I eat out so much that I often have a backlog of places I want to share with you all. To help me get to it faster, I’m going to start sharing the best bites I ate each month so you can use it as inspo for your following month’s meals out.
.
In January, I ate out over 20 times. Here are the top 8 things I ate (in the order I ate them, not ranked against each other):
.
1. @ludis_seattle - Longanisa sausages & lumpia on the combo-silog plate (Downtown)
2. @glosseattle - Coffee cake & hash browns (Capitol Hill)
3. @fw_moonskitchen - Rosé tteokbokki rice cakes (Federal Way)
4. @hosoonyitacoma - Sundubu tofu stew & grilled mackerel (Lakewood)
5. @spicewaala - Coffee soft serve ice cream
6. @arashiramen - Black garlic ramen
5. @outsider_bbq - Smoked brisket burger & poppy coleslaw
8. @shomonseattle - Literally the whole meal, but especially the cauliflower puree topped with a gelee that was like a deconstructed cauliflower soup, cod croquette, sushi pieces, and pickled kholrabi (a creative sub for ginger)
.
Since I went to Leavenworth, shout out to two spots that also served up great bites:
.
- @manamountain - Curried squash soup
- @argocoffeeandbiscuits - Cheddar jalapeño biscuit breakfast sandwich
- @mountain_goat_coffee - Breakfast scone
.
I’m going to link all of these reels as a series moving forward, so keep an eye out at the end of each month.
.
Now drop the best things you ate this past month so I can add them to my list to try as I make the rounds!

This Seattle brewery’s Mexican food is on 🔥 ⬇️ Save this for your next night out!
.
I remember first trying @frelardtamales during the panny and getting hooked on ordering their tamales frozen to stock up our kitchen. Shortly after that, I discovered they opened @elsuenitobrewing in Bellingham and quickly fell in love with that too. So you can imagine my delight when last year they announced they were opening a 2nd El Sueñito Brewing location right in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. I finally went a few weeks ago and, once again, they blew me away.
.
This Mexican and LGBTQ-owned brewery makes creative beers leveraging Mexican ingredients. For example, you’ll find styles like banana hefeweizen, prickly pear cream ale, and horchata stout. Their space also celebrates their heritage with colorful murals and a rotating calendar of lively events that bring people together (trivia, a drag brunch, and even a queer book club!).
.
But what I love most is that they’ve expanded their Frelard Tamales brand to serve a full menu of awesome Mexican food right in the brewery. Of course the tamales are a highlight, but other standouts include the carnitas street tacos and queso, which you can get as a dip with chorizo or drizzled on nachos.
.
The next time you’re craving Mexican food and want a good beer to match, head to El Sueñito!

This dreamy historic hotel is making some of the best food on the WA coast. ⬇️ Save this for your next trip!
.
Many Seattleites shed a tear when The Wandering Goose closed. This Capitol Hill institution was known for making some of the best biscuits, cakes, and brunch in the city. They closed in 2020, which felt permanent to many locals. But they never really left. Instead they relocated to the Washington coast under 3 hrs from Seattle and refurbished the state’s oldest hotel still in operation, @tokelandhotel. The Wandering Goose is the hotel’s restaurant.
.
I’ve always been curious about The Tokeland Hotel, but admittedly hesitate to book a stay because there are only shared bathrooms. So my family and I decided to check it out on a day trip during our annual trip to Seabrook, another WA coast town about 1.5 hours north.
.
I was in love as soon as I stepped inside the hotel. The team did a fantastic job refurbishing it in that effortlessly chic way some people can pull off where they curate eclectic vintage finds into a space worthy of a magazine. There’s a little gift shop upon entering, along with a case full of baked goods for grab-and-go treats from The Wandering Goose. The restaurant shares the space with the hotel lobby and overlooks the expansive backyard full of seating, yard games, and water views. There are also a bunch of farm animals, so this spot is great for kids.
.
Here’s what we ordered for lunch:
.
- Oyakodon “parent-and-child donburi” ($26)
- The Sawmill fried chicken and biscuit ($28)
- Fried rockfish sandwich ($26)
- Half dozen fried oysters ($15)
.
Everything was unbelievably good down to our cocktails. My favorites were The Sawmill thanks to the irresistible gravy that made the whole dish come together and the donburi that balanced umami and acidity beautifully.
.
We also brought some desserts home for later, my favorite of which was Hummingbird cake. All in all, Tokeland Hotel is a must stop for food if you’re in the area and a worthy spot to stay for your next trip.

Save this for later: ⬇️ One of Seattle’s best cakes.
.
I’ve been slowly working down my list of bakeries doing research on the city’s best cakes. I finally made it back to @coylesbakeshop to try their cake specifically. And wowzas, I’m happy I did.
.
Coyle’s makes a few different cake flavors, but I ordered the classic chocolate cake (~$5.50). It’s moist and not too dense, just the way I prefer my chocolate cake. I also love how the icing is thick, yet still creamy. Too often chocolate cakes feel so heavy, but Coyle’s somehow feels light without being dry. And I could have sworn I tasted a bit of espresso to punch up the chocolatey taste, but that’s probably a secret they’ll never tell.

This window in Seattle is doling out some seriously good burgers. ⬇️ Save this for your next meal!
.
Dan and I planned to check out the new rooftop restaurant that took over the older Mercado Luna space in Cap Hill. However, it was the 4th of July and the space ended up being closed. However, there’s a window underneath called @doubleoburgers that was open so we decided to give them a try.
.
This brand new restaurant makes Oklahoma-style smash burgers, which are thin, crisp patties cooked on a griddle with a mountain of thinly-sliced onions that are smashed into the meat during cooking. It’s owned by Pike Street Hospitality Group who’s behind fan favorites like Inside Passage, Rumba, Agua Verde, and Cantina del Sol, the new rooftop restaurant we originally wanted to visit.
.
I got the Double Double O’, which has 2 patties, smashed onions, double American cheese, and Double O’ Goop sauce served on a Hawaiian steamed bun. While the patties weren’t as thin as I prefer for a smash burger, the ratio of meat-to-bun-to-cheese was perfect so you got a bit of char, gooey, and sweetness in the same bite. What really stood out to me, though, was how well they handled the onions. I love an all-American burger, so I’m always hesitant to get onions on my burgers because they’re often so caramelized that the sweetness overpowers the burger. Double O’s were only lightly caramelized so they didn’t take over all the other ingredients within the burger. It still had that quintessential all-American flavor profile, so hats off to them for knowing how to walk the line with finesse.
.
All in all, Double O’ is definitely a contender for some of the best burgers in Seattle. Get the full list of my favorites via the link in my bio @emeraldpalate or directly here ➡️ https://www.emeraldpalate.com/best-burgers-in-seattle/

This window in Seattle is doling out some seriously good burgers. ⬇️ Save this for your next meal! . Dan and I planned to check out the new rooftop restaurant that took over the older Mercado Luna space in Cap Hill. However, it was the 4th of July and the space ended up being closed. However, there’s a window underneath called @doubleoburgers that was open so we decided to give them a try. . Save this for your next meal: ⬇️ A hidden gem breakfast spot in south Seattle.
.
My friend and I wanted to meet up for brunch recently. Since she lives in south Seattle, I thought it’d be a great excuse to try a spot on my list in the area. I remembered that @thehangarcafegeorgetown has been on my list for a while, so we made a date to meet there one Sunday around 10:45 AM.
.
We only had to wait about 15 minutes before getting a table at this popular first come, first serve breakfast spot. It feels like a hidden gem because, while within walking distance of Georgetown’s main drag, it’s down a side street without many other businesses around. And since it’s in a refurbished house, it feels like you’re headed to a friend’s for breakfast vs. a restaurant.
.
The inside is quite small, but there is a cute front and back patio, both of which are dog friendly. Since it’s right over Boeing’s flight path, you get to watch the plane come quite close as they land. That means it’s loud, which may affect more sensitive diners, but I found it quite thrilling.
.
Food wise they serve breakfast Wed - Sun from 8 AM - 2 PM. They’re best known for their sweet and savory crepes. I got The Hangar one ($20.95) with ham, scrambled eggs, Swiss, cheddar, tomato, red onion, and spinach topped with their homemade poblano vinaigrette and creme fraiche. I absolutely loved the earthy brightness of the sauce and the balance of flavors inside the crepe were really comforting. It was also a good size - I didn’t leave hungry!
.
We also split a slice of their coffee cake ($7.50), which was piled high with whipped cream and drizzled with caramel. Definitely get this to start your meal! And if you’re down for some drinks, don’t miss their fun mimosas.
.
All in all The Hangar Cafe is a homey spot for breakfast in one of Seattle’s coolest neighborhoods. Definitely add them to your list for your next brunch!

Fancy Seattle sushi spots worth the splurge. ⬇️
.
My family loves sushi, so we often surprise each other with omakases for our birthdays. I went to 2 over the past few months to celebrate both my and my sister’s birthday: @shomonseattle and @sushisuzuki.seattle. I’m happy to report both are worth the splurge.
.
Shomon Kappo Sushi in downtown Seattle serves a “kappo style” omakase, meaning it features a variety of dishes that are grilled, cured, and simmered alongside sushi. The vibe is intimate and friendly, with the chefs laser focused on execution. Standout dishes from my visit included a croquette-like fried cod, cauliflower soup cube that looked like tofu, a variety of high-quality nigiri, and pickled kohlrabi instead of ginger which was my absolute jam.
.
Sushi Suzuki in Madison Park serves “edomae style” omakase, meaning it’s more fish focused. While there were a few hot dishes, it’s mostly nigiri pieces. Each piece was better than the next, with standouts during my visit being a super tender squid with caviar, fatty chutoro tuna with shiso, and sweet smoke salmon. The hospitality was warm, with chefs inviting conversation and photos.
.
I’ve been to just about all of the fancy omakase spots in the greater Seattle area. Here are my favorites, ranked:
.
1. @tanedaseattle - Near impossible to get a reservation, but persevere
2. @shomonseattle - Even though I typically prefer sushi, their hot plates are SO good
3. @sushisuzuki.seattle - They’re neck & neck with ShoMon since I like their raw fish slightly better
4. @ltdeditionsushi - Focuses more on fish with minimalist, razor-sharp execution
5. @shirosseattle - Another fish focused spot that’s slightly more affordable than the others, but still excellent
6. @sushikashiba - An OG that’s worth the splurge, especially at the chef’s counter when Shiro’s working
7. @sushibyscratchrestaurants - Not traditional at all, but creative spins on nigiri in a vibe-y setting
.
Comment “SUSHI” and I’ll DM you my list of favorite sushi restaurants in and around Seattle, including prices for omakase spots and casual à la carte options ➡️ https://www.emeraldpalate.com/best-sushi-restaurants-in-seattle/
