This SIMPLE RULE has changed my life 👇

It’s called “KEVIN’S RULE” (named and coined from my friend Kevin)

Every other month you take a day or so and schedule a mini adventure or activity you normally wouldn’t have done. So, Instead of watching the football game on Saturday… you go to a conference, run a race, visit a friend, etc.

The math works.

If you do that simple rule from age 30 to 70 you will have banked 240 mini adventures that you otherwise wouldn’t have done. That’s how you BUILD A GREAT LIFE RESUME.

Comment RUN for more deets on Runningman.

I’ve been running for 30 years and I’ve never won a race. Not one. Back of the pack guy, always have been.

What I actually do out there is Run 7 minutes, walk 3. The Galloway method. Been doing it almost 20 years and it’s how I got through 100 miles at Hennepin. I’m not embarrassed by the walking part... it’s the reason I’m still running at all.

But somewhere along the way running turned into a resume. What’s your time, what’s your PR, show me the Strava. Meanwhile running gave me my health and some of my closest friends and it never once asked me how fast I was going.

So we built a race with no winners. Pick your distance, run it or walk it, change your mind halfway through. Nobody’s clocking you. Walkers, runners, rookies... no judgement, all welcome.

That first year a THIRD of the people out there went farther than the distance they signed up for. Nobody made them.

Mo’s Rule: make a list of the people who matter to you, and the big moments in their life. Maybe they stopped drinking. Maybe it’s the anniversary of selling their company, or of losing someone. Reach out on that day... when they least expect it and they need it the most.

YOU ARE THE BUSINESS PLAN.

I would have paid the Knicks $4,000 to do their song back in 1993. It gave me instant credibility when I was starting out. Now I had a STORY that I could tell other teams…. I could show them something that worked…and maybe they would want that too. It worked.

It gave me MOMENTUM which ultimately led me doing songs for almost every team in the NBA and led to the sale of my first business.

Don’t make every decision purely on the financials, there is a lot of value out there that can’t be quantified. BUILD YOUR STORY.

Don't wait for opportunity to happen…create it.

BUY THE MUFFINS.

This isn’t a story of me being lucky or good at sales. This is a story of me putting myself in a situation where the universe could reward me for being there. Create your own luck.

A Misogi will always push you outside your comfort zone.

That’s the point. The challenge you earn becomes the story that defines your year.

Enter the new year “light”. Ready to attack vs playing catchup. Delete the emails you don’t need, clean the desk, cancel the subscriptions, clear out the closet, remove the apps you don't need.

Come into 2026 ready to attack!

Throwback to the summer we spent 20 minutes trying (and failing) to catch one very annoying fly… then my husband @jesseitzler walks in and calmly announces he can summon the fly with a high‑pitch radio frequency only flies can hear—and catch it with his bare hands.
Me: “Yeah right…”
Also me: 😳
We have a hard time killing bugs in this family so of course the fly got away and lived to see another day 🤣

This was my plan… I stuck to it… and had an incredible year.

You gotta plan.

As the saying goes “Wars are won in the generals tent”.

The good thing about planning is anyone can do it. You don't need a Harvard degree, investors, experience or money. For me, I plan my life BEFORE my meetings. I’ve been doing this since I was 22 and it works so well.

Work always fills in… but the time to spend with family, go on trips, meet up with friends, train for your race doesn’t magically appear. Don’t wait for it to happen. Put it on the calendar!

Keep your eyes open for opportunities.

The 1-6-4 method.

1 Misogi… 6 mini adventures… 4 new winning habits.
That’s only 11 things over 365 days. ANYBODY can do that.

But here’s the key… none of it happens unless you PUT IT ON THE CALENDAR. Write them down. Tell your friends. Commit.

Because if you don’t fill your calendar with the things YOU want to do… it will fill in with work and other people’s requests for your time. No bueno.

I’ve been doing this for years and it works. Start now and watch what happens.

What’s your Misogi this year?

LIFE HACK: Imagine if you’re 30 and you do this until you’re 70…you’ll have 40 YEAR DEFINING things on your LIFE RESUME. You won life.

You want your Misogi to be so challenging there is a chance you don’t finish it…and that looks different for everyone.

For some people it can be signing up for a 5k… for others a marathon…. For others a 100 mile race. Pick something challenging for YOU. And put it on the calendar.

It will do the following…

1. Focus you… allow you to say “no” to things that don’t matter
2. Build confidence… working towards something really challenging
3. When you complete it… you’ll think you can do anything. So when you’re done….go double the business plan!😂

You should be able to look back on a year and remember what made it different.

Here are 3 things I put on my calendar:
ONE big challenge that defines the year.
SIX mini adventures. One every other month.
FOUR new habits. One each quarter.

Do that for 10 years and you’ve added 10 big experiences, 60 adventures and 40 habits to your life.

Start planning your life with the same attention you give your meetings.

That’s all it takes to be better than 95% of the world in any discipline (100 Hour Rule). For example, if you practice the piano for 18 minutes a day for a year….you’ll basically be better than 95% of the world at the piano.

Here’s the amazing thing….18 minutes a day is 109 hours a year. That’s just 1.2% of your total available time in a year. Not 98% of your time….only 1.2%. That’s nothing.

My point is it doesn’t take much to be special…it just takes consistency.

#100HourRule

PS: PARENTS:….Imagine if your child committed 18 mins a day for a year in one thing. Then another the next year. Then another skill the next. By the time they are 21….they’d be Jason Bourne
