The simple butter candle that has been a huge hit every time I make it 🧈🕯️

Adding the garlic just took it to a whole other level though. Definitely try it with rosemary and garlic if you plan on making this! So incredibly delicious and a real hit when entertaining at home or even while outdoors.

I make this all the time when we go camping. I just place it in the freezer overnight and then in a cooler bag surrounded with ice. It literally stays solid, even when we leave it out overnight in the bread, by morning it’s still there and tasting delicious once we heat it up on the fire.

HOW TO MAKE IT:
Block of butter, a paper cup, beeswax coated wick (which is food-safe), rosemary and garlic.

I’ve recently learned to place 3-4 wicks in my cup, but that’s probably because we are eating it in the forest and it’s open to the elements. Stir the rosemary leaves and crushed garlic into the melted butter. Then place the wick(s) in the centre of the cup and pour in the melted butter; I used kebab sticks to tie the top of the wicks to. Freeze for at least an hour.

Cut a hole into a cob bread that’s the same size as the cup you used, then remove the frozen butter candle from its paper cup and place into the hole in the bread.

Cut the wick to size & light it up 🙌🏽

Garlic Bread Baked Cheese 🧄 🍞 🧀

Kicking off the Campmas menu with an appetiser

Ingredients
Dough:
1 tsp sugar
2/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbl melted butter
1 3/4 plain flour

150g approx melted butter
Mined garlic 🧄
Fresh cut parsley
Your favourite soft cheese we used Camembert
Flake salt

Method:
Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and whisk together until dough forms. Knead with hands until smooth. Form into small bite size balls.

Mix melted butter, parsley and garlic in a large bowl.
Line camp oven with baking paper and coat with garlic butter mix. Slice squares into the top of the cheese and place in the centre of the camp oven.
Place the dough balls into the bowl and give them a good coating with the garlic butter before placing them around the cheese. Drizzle over left over butter ensuring a good coating.
Place camp oven over a low bottom heat and standard heat on the top. Our cook time was 20minutes.
Dish up onto a chopping board with a sprinkle of salt. Time to dig in and enjoy your garlic bread baked cheese.

Staying a lovely @hipcampau site the swimming hole at Ferny Glen. This had a nice creek to cool off in.

This camp is located in Northern NSW about an hours drive inland from Grafton, right on the Mann River. There’s heaps of space for large groups, as well as flat ground for rooftop tents and you’ll get this whole place to yourself! If you’re into fishing make sure to pack a rod because you’re right by the river (I caught nothing 🥲) You can find this camp on @hipcampau

Found this absolutely beautiful creek side camping spot! ⛺️ This camp is located in Northern NSW about an hours drive inland from Grafton, right on the Mann River. There’s heaps of space for large groups, as well as flat ground for rooftop tents and you’ll get this whole place to yourself! If you’re into fishing make sure to pack a rod because you’re right by the river (I caught nothing 🥲) You can find this camp on @hipcampau 📍 Camp Cangai, Harper Farms NSW
