Recently made a visit to @thetasteofnorthchina where they specialize in northeastern Chinese cuisine from the Dongbei region.

Read down below to see how you can try one of the dishes in the video for free!

I absolutely loved all the dishes I ordered but my top 2 had to be the salted egg corn & the candied sweet potatoes. They were both so addictive and even though I was so full I find my self constantly snacking on both dishes. Coming right behind those had to be the fried fish in hot chili.

Everything I ordered:
vermicelli w/braised pork belly
Beef ox tripe
Salt and pepper shrimp
Fried fish in hot chili
Salted egg corn
Candied sweet potato

To win one of these dishes for free:
1) follow @thetasteofnorthchina
2)comment the dish you want to try and tag a friend!
Multiple entires will be allowed as long as it’s a different tag.

Up to 3 winners will be chosen! You must be able to redeem the free dish in person and will have 30 days to redeem it.

A winner will be chosen by December 9th and notified via dm!

Checked out the newest location for @chubbyskewersnyc in Flushing! They’re known for their $1.30 Chinese BBQ skewers which even includes Wagyu beef!!

Most skewers are $1.30 with some premium ones being $2.60. However if you get their membership the skewers are reduced to $1 & $2 each. For the most part, majority of the skewers are $1.30 from my observation.

All of the skewers are prepared fresh throughout the day and I loved the huge variety they had ranging from beef, chicken, pork, seafood, and veggies.

If you want a break from skewers, you can also order from their several hot dishes that are all made to order. I tried out their garlic vermicelli scallops, sweet and sour fried pork, and garlic roasted eggplants.

Personally I enjoyed the experience here and definitely can’t wait for my next visit. My favorite skewers were the baby scallop, chicken skin, and the black pepper Wagyu rib.

$1.50 soft serve found in the food court of the LIC @hmartofficial ! I saw a new section of the food court that wasn’t there on my last visit so I went to browse and that’s when I stumbled upon this amazing deal.

You can order as many as you want and there’s no limit. At least not that I’m aware of.. there was no signs about how long they’re offering this deal, just that it was limited so go before it’s gone.

I loved the matcha and I thought the “ube” was not bad but I don’t think it was exactly ube per se. it tasted like a purple sweet potato lol. Also on the kiosk one screen said taro and the other said ube. Regardless it was still good a for $1.50 still a steal.

I eat ice cream all year round so if you don’t then keep scrolling. 😂.

The first time I had a meatloaf from Kingston Tropical Bakery, it changed my life!!! If you always get coco bread with your patty then this is a must try for you. To me it’s like a hybrid, but with less carbs. Of course I do still enjoy the standard beef patty crust.

The one I got in the video is from Champion Bakery, which is a block away from Kingston. I actually didn’t know they sold meatloaf here until recently. The filling at champion is a lot more spicier than the one from Kingston, so be aware when you are visiting. Personally I prefer the filling from Kingston as it’s a little more mild, but still has a slight kick. However the one from Kingston sells out really fast so make sure you get there early if you want to try it.

Been wanting to try @mam.nyc and I’m glad I finally tried it this past summer. They’re known for their outdoor seating which is similar to how it is back in vietnam, as well as their bun dau dac biet.

Mam specializes in Vietnamese food specifically small plates that people in Vietnamese would eat out in the streets. It’s super unique and they offer dishes you won’t find at other Vietnamese restaurants in NYC, let alone in the states. I can say for a fact that I haven’t seen half of these dishes in other states. I can’t speak for Cali as I’ve only dined at a few there.

Personally the dishes served here are not what I’m used to so it just wasn’t for my personal palate. I definitely encourage you to go and try them out for yourself. The food is pretty authentic and the flavors are spot on.

Reposting this so anyone who’s making a turkey for the first time doesn’t mess it up and get scarred for life by making a dry turkey!

Save this video and these tips for Christmas or next Thanksgiving so you can have a juicy turkey 👌🏼

These are my tips on how I make my turkey juicyyyy every Thanksgiving! People always complain turkey is dry well not in my house.

Big tips: understand how heavy and big your turkey is and knowing how long to roast it for. You can find out how long your turkey will bleed to bake for on google. Use a meat thermometer 1 hour before it is estimated to be done cooking so you don’t over cook it. Then check it every 15-30 minutes after if the temp is around 145-150. You want the meat thermometer to read about 156-158F in the thickest part of the turkey breast when you take it out of the oven. Cover with foil lightly and the turkey will continue to cook once you take it out and will reach the 165F by the time you serve it.

Compound butter:
2 sticks of soft butter (16 oz)
2 tbsp of each: fresh rosemary, thyme, and sage minced

Mix to combine well. Can be made in advanced just soften before using.

Turkey prep day before (can be done 2 days in advanced)
-Wash and exfoliate your Turkey with salt. You will need lots of salt. Kosher salt preferred.
-prepare chopped pieces of carrot, celery, onion, and garlic on the bed of the roasting pan. (Reserve some to add into the turkey cavity)
-pat your turkey dry and place it in the roasting pan breast side up. Tuck in the wings so they don’t burn when roasting.
-separate the area under the skin in the breast and thigh area carefully, then add in soften compound butter to cover evenly. You can tell it’s spread evenly when the herbs are visibly seen evenly underneath.
-reserve some butter for the exterior and massage it evenly to create a uniform layer. Season with salt and pepper. (You can add any of your other usual seasonings if you wish)
-chill in the fridge over night for up to 2 nights

Turkey prep continued in the comments as it was too long for the caption 😳.

Recently checked out @futago.usa for their new AYCE lunch! They have 3 different tiers and compared to other places I thought the quality of the meats and the flavor was pretty great.

My favorite cut had to be the harami which basically melts in your mouth and was soft like butter.

I liked that all the meats were pre marinaded which ensured everything was nice and flavorful. All of the meats were well marbled and the service was excellent. They also had extra sides you can order to have with your meats.

@mimisa_flushing went viral for their green grape fried chicken, but they have more than just that. It’s been a while since my last visit but the food is just as good as I remember.

This time I tried out their corn cheese fried chicken and I was surprised to see that each layer had corn cheese and not just the top. I got the combo 1 which comes with tteokboki, fish cake skewers, and your choice of fried chicken for $32. The value is amazing and can feed 2-3 people.

I also tried out their honey butter fried because I love honey butter anything! I know some aren’t the biggest fan of honey butter but I love it. The fries are super crispy and the seasoning was wonderful.

The building of their last location closed down so they were forced to find a new location. So happy they were able to get a new and better location with way more seating as well.

Today I’m testing out a cleaver vs a coconut opening tool! Totally meant single purpose products not single use. The tool is reusable and not single use. I hate having tools that only have a single purpose. They just take up space and if you don’t use it often it’s a waste of space.

Overall the tool isn’t bad!! I think this is great for a business to use but for someone like me at home I’ll just stick to using a cleaver which I already own.

I got the tool off amazon for about $15 and I thought it was easy to use.

Growing up lo mai chi was one of my favorites!!! It’s crazy because I don’t really care for coconut flakes or peanuts but the combination of everything in it is just amazing.

My favorite is from taipan bakery on canal in Chinatown. No where else has come close to being just as good or better. I’ve tried it at many places. I only like the original flavor. Interestingly enough they don’t sell this at their flushing location 😢

It’s mochi covered with coconut flakes and the filling consists of crushed peanuts, sugar, and sesame seeds. It’s not super sweet, but just sweet enough. I always have to buy 2-3 when I’m in the area.

Finally found the viral fruit bucket ice cream from Hmart by Aiko. Personally I thought they were okay and I most likely won’t be getting it again. It’s only $4, so it might be great for kids but I would personally skip it since it’s mostly just white chocolate.

Been seeing these viral cookie tins all over the internet and I finally got my hands on it! You can find these at @pookiebakerynyc near prospect park in Brooklyn. Each tin is $35 which also includes ice cream.

You can pick up to 2 different flavors (I got chocolate chip and the white chocolate lava) it’s recommended you order these in advanced as it takes about 1 hour to prepare each tin. These cookies are super rich so you definitely need the ice cream or a glass of milk. The cookie tins feed quite a few people so it would be great for a party or a small gathering.

If you want something mallet check out their individual sized cookies. The Nutella stuffed one was my favorite and one of the best I had.

Been buying sooo many coconuts and this is how I use all of them! You can also skip the sugar cane juice and stick to pure coconut water which I do sometimes.

I just used my last 2 coconuts for this video so I need to restock 😂. The sugar cane juice I use is SUPER SWEET, so I don’t use too much of it. In fact when I drink the sugar cane alone I usually need to water it down because of how sweet it is. Been a big fan of the dragonfly brand so that’s what I’ve been using.

I usually get my cases of coconut on @sayweee_official which they usually sell 9 for $12-15, which comes out to less than $2 each!! In stores they can retail for $3-5 alone. Also get the frozen sugar cane juice from there as well for around $2.49.

@rices.market sent me this at home spicy tuna crispy rice kit to try and I really enjoyed it! They shipped it over night with ice packs, and when I received it everything was nice and cold with the ice packs still fully frozen.

Each kit comes with 2 packs which can make a total of 16 spicy tuna crispy rice pieces. In my video I only did half which was one full tin with 8 pieces. It was very easy to make and super simple to assemble. I will say I wish they did provide a spoon to scoop the tuna to make it a little more seamless but that would be my only complaint. Overall the rice was crispy and the tuna was fresh.

Thanks again Rice’s Market for sending me this kit and if you wanna try it out for yourself go and check it out on their website.

Trying the newest menu addition to the @costco food court! I was skeptical to try it at first as most new menu items never hit for me like their classics do. I decided to try it out as many said their Costco didn’t have it yet.

It used the same dough as their chicken bake, and they definitely don’t skimp on the filling. My only gripe was that the filling by was not consistent as some bites had too much pepperoni, resulting in a salty bite. While I love pepperoni, I do need some balance. I thought that it lacked cheese in the filling which could offset some of the saltiness.

Overall I thought it was pretty good saltiness aside and I would definitely give it a second chance.

Vegan food is usually underrated. Of course you have to go to the right spots, that are using the right techniques. While it’s not always my first choice for cuisine, I will always give it a try.

At @sensaigon.nyc they’re really doing their thing! The flavors are on point and many of their dishes blew me away. To me vegan food is just a different take on food, and it’s interesting to see how food can transform. While it’s not always like this, when done right surely anyone would be impressed.

For example the way they replicated fried pork belly here was insane!!! Im not sure the exact contents but I’m sure there was some form of bean curd, and mochi or starchy flour that gave it its signature gelatinous texture.

It’s awesome to see that they’re serving up Vietnamese classics for those who don’t or can’t eat meat.

@rokstarchicken is currently collaborating with one of my favorite kimchi brands @jongga_usa so of course I had to go and try it out!

For their collaboration they’re featuring Jongga Crispy potato fries and a Jongga Kimchi chicken sandwich. Both items are served with caramelized Jongga kimchi and spicy ranch.

The fries weee nice crispy, thin, and was so bomb with the caramelized kimchi. The chicken sandwich is always crispy and juicy and the kimchi was a great addition! You really can’t go wrong with either options so definitely get the combo so you don’t miss out.

Some classic I like to get are their fried shrimp (which I didn’t get this time) and their boneless fried chicken. I love their soy garlic and their Korean jalapeño mayo. I always get my chicken naked so I can dip it with both sauces! If you’re not a fan of sauce try out their honey butter.

#eatingwithblim #rokstarchicken #jongga #jonggakimchi #kimchi #korean #koreanfriedchicken #friedchicken #nyceats #koreannyc #nyckoreanfood #nycfood
I’ve been coming to @tabetomonyc since they first opened almost a decade ago! They had a fire last year but I’m so glad to see they are back serving up the same amazing service and quality!

They specialize in tsukemen which is a type of ramen where you dip the noodles into the broth. The broth is super concentrated so it will be on the salty side. Towards the end you can dilute your broth so that it will be drinkable.

While dining you can also request a hot stone which will being the temperate back up to boiling for you broth so that it will be pipping hot! This is the only place in nyc that I see offers this and maybe even in the whole USA.

If you love tsukemen definitely go and check them out.

Finally checked out @gan.blaze in flushing at the @tangramnyc mall.

They opened about a few months ago and they’re specializing in Chinese skewers. There’s so many skewer spots in flushing so I always have to check out the new ones for a change of scenery.

You pick whichever skewers you want and the register will ring you up and add them to your tables bill. In the video I mispoke and said you pay for them in advance but you actually pay for it at the end. You can scan the QR code at the table and order additional hot dishes and drinks as well.

I thought they had a decent amount of options but I ended up gravitating towards the black peppered beef skewers the most.

There’s get pretty busy but luckily you can join their virtual waitlist before arriving.

This is a great spot for hanging out and catching up with friends.

Always on the lookout for great viet food in nyc, the ones that don’t hold back all the flavors! @banh.anhem has been super popular so I had to go see if it was truly worth the hype. I can assure you for me at least it was very much worth the hype!

There’s ALWAYS a wait. Before they open people already lineup. Now the restaurant is VERY SMALL. Like less than 50 people small. So they can only serve so many people per day, which is why there’s ALWAYS a wait. But the food is also very good so that contributes to it as well. You have to add your name in person and they don’t do reservations. Even in 10 degree weather people were lining up (me included).

If you don’t want to wait I highly recommend ordering take out. Some of the items will be fine for take out but if you want the real experience you will need to wait for a table.

I thoroughly enjoyed everything here and I didn’t dislike any of the food. Everything was flavorful and truly authentic! My only gripe is that a few of the items are more pricier than the should be specifically the thit kho and the pate chaud. But otherwise I thought the value for everything else was decent. Yes everything is cheaper in Vietnam but obviously we’re not in Vietnam.

My top 3 favorites were the banh tieu xoi kep, both banh mis, and bun cha hanoi.

Hopefully they get a bigger location because as much as I love the food I cannot always afford to wait 1 hr before opening. Thankfully my favorite items can be ordered to go.
