Bubba Wallace was running up front at the Cook Out 400 at Richmond, leading 123 laps and taking Stage 2, when a lug nut issue caused his left-front wheel to come off during a green-flag pit stop. The tire came off in the middle of pit lane, costing him multiple positions as he sat stopped. Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 19 pit crew noticed what happened and stepped in to help 23XI Racing’s No. 23 team get the wheel back on so Wallace could continue. He eventually finished 31st, but the moment showed a rare level of respect between teams in the middle of a race.
