We made a $106k blind bet. And still here. Still insane that we built a million-dollar burrito business on baggies and stickers. The lesson: Just start janky. It gets better.

DROPPING AGAIN SUNDAY 8/16. GET ON THE LIST. We’re teaming up with @lahamburguesaaz to bring back the Wagyu Beef & Bean Burrito. Beefy, rich, and a little spicy. Wagyu Arizona raised from @bonafidebeef. Last time we made 6,000. Sold out in 6 minutes. This time we recruited help, and we’re making 11,000. Only the email list gets the link. Link in bio or comment “wagyu” to get on the list. (This collab ships to most zips in the Western US. Not in our area? Get on the list anyway, we’ll keep you posted.)

We wouldn’t have believed this either. Two years ago, people thought I was delusional when I said I was starting a frozen bean and cheese company. Admittedly I was optimistic, but this beats the best-case scenario. Our team, our tiny taco bell, Phoenix community who rode hard for us from the beginning. We don’t get to be here without starting there. We’re going national with a lot of love for where this all began. So we’re refunding 5 random burrito orders this week. No code, just order by Sunday. Announcing the winners Monday. Thank you for building this bean dream with us.

Bad Hambres x La Hamburguesa collab hitting your freezer soon. We’ve always said it’s all about the beans, but this time, it’s all about the beef. Our bean & cheese burrito finally got some beef, and not just any beef. Announcing the details tomorrow at noon. Until then, any guesses? This limited drop goes live to our email list Wed 12/10 for Arizona-wide delivery. Email list gets first dibs. Link in bio.

Hank Murphy spent over a decade perfecting a bean and cheese burrito that could be sold frozen — then sold the first 120 out of his home kitchen for less than $800. He and his wife Sam built a $1M business in their first full year, with zero paid marketing and a community of 240K followers built entirely in public. This is the story of @bad.hambres.

When you google best bean & cheese burrito in Phx.. 3 spots pop up Ritos, Carolinas, and Bad Hambres! So we tried all three! Growing up in Garfield, my taste buds are bias towards Ritos.. but after this I can tell you its a tough choice!! Which spot are we missing?? #podcast #food #foodie #burrito #phoenix

*SOLD OUT* #wagyuforall Eight months ago we made 6,000 of these Wagyu Beef and Bean burritos out of La Hamburguesa’s food truck. They sold out in 6 minutes. But we couldn’t legally ship them outside Arizona (long story... ask Marc). So we spent months getting the Wagyu burrito USDA-approved. Same pasture-raised American Wagyu beef, same recipe, now cleared to cross state lines. This time we made 30,000 burritos, and we’re shipping to most zips in the Western US. But it’s more burritos than we can ship at once, so we’re splitting it into two drops. Two chances to get lucky. This Sunday 8/9 and next Sunday 8/16 at 6PM Arizona / 6 PM Pacific / 7PM Mountain. This drop is email list exclusive. Link in bio. @lahamburguesaaz @bonafidebeef

Y’all tagged @bookofelie hundreds of times. He finally tried it. We could finally ship him burritos in LA. This is what he said: “It’s clear the hype is real — this is one of the better bean and cheese burritos, frozen or IRL. The tortilla is fantastic, awesome how it keeps its floury-ness after being frozen, shipped and reheated the beans are awesome, cheese is well dispersed and their signature top crust of outside the burrito is such a great touch. The green sauce burrito is absolutely no joke from a heat perspective. The branding and packaging is immaculate.” Now shipping to AZ, CA, UT, NV, OR, WA, CO, NM, ID

We’re running it back. The fan-favorite Salsa Verde bean & cheese burrito returns this week. We teamed up again with @chilte_phx’s award-winning Chef LT Smith, who built a spicy, garlicky salsa verde just for our burritos. Last drop sold out in 6 minutes. We made more this time, but no promises they won’t go fast. This is the last call for the Salsa Verde for now. We’ve got big plans for plans for this burrito… and a brand new collab dropping in December. But for now, drop goes live Wednesday 11/19 at 6:00 PM. Email list gets the link first. Get on the list. Bean freaks, this one’s on you. For the last eight months, we’ve been trying to crack shipping outside Arizona. And now it’s finally here. Not because we had some big team or a bunch of investor money. Because y’all kept sharing Bad Hambres. So if someone sent you this, welcome. We make handmade frozen bean and cheese burritos in Phoenix with slow cooked beans, made from scratch broth, house made salsa, fresh tortillas from La Purisima. Now shipping frozen to most zips in Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Introducing… A year ago, we gave Chef LT our beans, tortilla, and cheese. Asked him to make us a salsa verde. He did the rest. It became an absolute fan-favorite collab. Now it’s part of the permanent lineup. We’re calling it the Spicy Verde. And we’re taking it national over the next 6 months. What an insane journey to get here. And all with the most talented, down-to-earth guy we’re lucky enough to call a friend. Huge thanks to our team who rolled every burrito. Now shipping in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. Valley locals, we’re celebrating with free salsa for the rest of the week.

Bad Hambres 3.0 Same burritos. New packaging. It was always the goal to get custom packaging (that checked the FDA compliance boxes). The catch is it’s not cheap and order minimums are insanely high. We honestly weren’t sure we’d get here bootstrapped, so this one feels like a win. Also, bittersweet. We loved the paper wrappers, so did you. We’re not plastic people, but the paper could get soggy and didn’t protect your burritos against air in your freezer. We had to make the change, but it was going to be on our terms. The packaging still had to have soul, nothing you’d pick up in the freezer aisle, tied to our roots in the Southwest, and built around what you told us matters most. Bonus points, it locks in flavor, fits in your freezer door, and finally has the nutrition facts and cooking instructions. We’re still learning as we go, but this is a level up. Crazy to think we started in our home kitchen. Thanks for building this with us. P.S. If you miss the paper wrappers, they’ll be back for collabs... for now.
