Then see if they’re willing to work with you! It will come out. You have to sign legal documents saying that what you have reported is true. Don’t lie in surrogacy… or in life, right?!?! 🙄👋🏼🤦‍♀️💥
Ask this instead: "Are you doing this for the money?" gets asked constantly, and it's the wrong question. Financial instability actually disqualifies a candidate, precisely so money is never the reason she says yes. The better question is simpler: what made you want to do this for someone else? That one usually gets an honest answer, and the honest answer is almost always a person's face, not a number. Compensation is real, and it's never something a surrogate should feel embarrassed to ask about. It's just not why she opens the application. The version of this I do not enjoy telling. Before I opened Roots I carried for a single dad, and I went through an agency to do it. I did no research at all. I heard about them from a family friend, I called, they asked if I qualified, I said yes, and that was the whole process. Nothing went horrifically wrong. The number is the bait, not the offer. The most common way someone gets pulled into the wrong agency is a very large compensation figure, presented with no breakdown behind it. Some of it is usually true. The part that is not true is the implication that the number is what lands in your account. What it is really doing is getting you through the door before you have learned which questions to ask. Nobody should be embarrassed about not knowing what to ask. You have not done this before.
