The youngest living Medal of Honor recipient.

At 20, Kyle Carpenter threw himself on a live grenade in Afghanistan to save a fellow Marine. He spent five weeks unconscious and over two years at Walter Reed, more than 40 surgeries to rebuild what the blast took.

He calls everything after that his bonus life. A marathon. A college degree. Everest base camp.

"If you are here and alive, you're still in the fight."

SEAL training starts with a boat, a surf zone, and a simple order. Paddle out, paddle down, paddle in. Admiral McRaven on why nobody makes it through alone.

Admiral William McRaven served 37 years in the Navy and commanded US Special Operations Command. What he tells people now has nothing to do with being tough enough to go it alone.

A few words can stay with someone for a lifetime.

“I’m 24 years old. I’m gonna be just fine.”

For retired four-star admiral William McRaven, those words from a wounded soldier at Walter Reed became a lasting lesson in resilience.

Even after decades of military service, there was still something to learn from a young man looking toward his future with confidence. Strength and inspiration can come from the very people a leader is there to support.

A WSB exclusive speaker, McRaven brings that human perspective to his lessons on leadership, perseverance and teamwork.

"You're not gonna be able to paddle that boat by yourself."

In SEAL training, Admiral William McRaven learned this on a boat in the surf zone. Three men in the bow. Two amidships. Three pushing from the stern. If one man didn't dig as hard as the rest, the boat didn't make it.

"I'm 24 years old. I'm gonna be just fine." That's what a quadruple amputee soldier said to Admiral William McRaven at Walter Reed.

He never forgot it.

Hope is the most powerful force in the universe. You may never have the chance to rescue Captain Phillips. But you can always write a note. Make a call. Give someone a little hope.

The cascading effect is always worth it.

Dear friends, breaking news! Today is FILM day. I’ve just released this month’s DIALOGUE episode featuring Condoleezza Rice on my YouTube channel. Please go to the link in bio to watch.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the first woman of color to serve as Secretary of State of the United States of America.

As she sat in front of my camera, I asked her about diplomacy. Her response surprised me, “Well, a good diplomat listens. I was going to be a concert pianist from the age of three. So, I learned to read music before I could read. Every society has its songs of joy and its songs of sorrow, but tonality is important in listening to people–and that’s a musician’s gift.”

Our conversation then turned to the weight of responsibility. I asked if power had ever made her feel lonely. Glancing at my portraits of W. Bush and Bill Clinton on my studio wall, she said, “I think the loneliest is for some of the people that you have photographed–presidents. There’s nothing lonelier than having to make life and death decisions on behalf of millions and millions of people. It’s lonely enough to advise that person. It’s really lonely to be that person.”

In one of our previous meetings, Condoleezza and I had exchanged stories about Vladimir Putin. She had told me about a face-to-face confrontation with the Russian premier during challenging negotiations. In a rare moment of hesitation, Putin backed down. I inquired what was going through her mind at that second. She replied, “You will never intimidate me–you will never intimidate me!” Then I asked, “Where does that come from?” She said, “Oh, it comes from a long line of parents and grandparents who were never intimated. I watched them in segregated Alabama, with dignity, just refuse to bend.” She paused, smiled, then continued, “Freedom is not the lack of constraint–it's not. But freedom is the opportunity to seek those possibilities. That’s what freedom is.” Condoleezza Rice, I salute you.

Bear Grylls on fear and why the only way through is forward:

Data does not create an advantage on its own. The advantage comes from knowing which signals matter and how to act on them.

As NFL Network’s first analytics expert, sports broadcaster and data scientist, Cynthia Frelund has built her career translating advanced statistics and predictive modeling into insights that make the game easier to understand.

On stage, she shows leaders how to apply that same discipline to their own decisions: moving from instinct to evidence, using analytics to identify and develop talent, and balancing data with human judgment. Audiences leave with practical frameworks for making smarter choices, driving innovation and improving performance.

WSB is proud to represent Cynthia in partnership with Athletes First.

Coach K never asked his Olympic stars to leave their egos at the door.

He asked for the opposite. One ego umbrella, call it USA. His blueprint for turning the best players in the world into one team is worth the watch.

Terry Bradshaw is the only quarterback in NFL history to win four Super Bowls while calling his own plays.

Drafted #1 overall in 1970. Two-time Super Bowl MVP. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989. First NFL player on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Three decades on FOX NFL Sunday.

He'll tell you the rings were never the point. What he talks about now is what outlasts the win column. How to keep showing up. How to go back to basics.

The proudest moment of a career is rarely the one that teaches you the most.

Admiral James Stavridis was 36, on his first command, a guided missile destroyer winning every award, when a routine inspection went so wrong the Navy towed his ship back into port in front of the whole fleet. He went home that night sure he would be fired.

He wasn't. The thing that carried him through wasn't his rank or his commanding officer. It was a string of phone calls from the other captains, his peers, each asking the same thing: what do you need?

The lesson he took from the worst day of his career: the people who can save you are often the ones standing right beside you.

Ten minutes before his first solo flight in a fighter jet, Dan Rooney realized he wasn't alone in the cockpit.

Every voice that ever said not good enough was strapped in with him. What he did next is the whole lesson.

At 14, Anthony Robles wrote down his goal of becoming a state wrestling champion. Then he asked his coach to help him get there.

What followed was a summer of training with a teammate he couldn’t beat. Five days a week, Robles returned to the mat. Each time he got back up, he was learning something he could use on the next attempt.

Robles went on to become an NCAA wrestling champion and the author of “Unstoppable,” with a life story that inspired the film of the same name.

His experience offers a reason to look more closely at the difficult stretches in our own lives. A setback can reveal what needs to change, and the people around us can help us take that next step.

Shane Battier won a national championship at Duke under Coach K, every game decided by double digits. He says it came down to two rules. Look each other in the eye, and never lie to each other.

The rules were not about character. They were about speed. In the chaos of a game there is no time to wonder what a teammate really means. When you trust that every word comes from the heart, you stop second-guessing and start reacting. That is what wins close games.

Ten-point underdogs at North Carolina, they won by twelve.
