But what many people don’t see is that while I’m helping build up other women, those women are building me up too. Not in business, not financially - as a woman. I went on by the age of 21 to become one of the biggest managers in the music business. Everyone knew me as the guy who just never gave up. Ceo Charlie became my identity, but I had a problem because I gained so much weight as a business man and became over 300 pounds. And that’s what leads me to case study number 2… when I was 300 pounds, I came up with a new identity, I called myself “Charlie rocket” because I wanted to leave my business and become an athlete. I put on my Charlie rocket bandana and my colorful Charlie rocket clothes. And in 1 year I did an Ironman, biked across America, lost 125 pounds, became a Nike athlete, and was on the cover of runner’s world magazine. I became an athlete. Your identity you define for yourself is the biggest predictor of if you will give up on a difficult task. No identity, or weak identity, you will give up. Full identity, with a name and a new outfit…. You will most likely become exactly what you want.
