I’ve been putting off writing this because I think I’ve almost ran out of tears, but we very suddenly said goodbye to our beautiful boy Ron just over a week ago. Oh Ron, a lifetime with you wouldn’t have been enough. Just you walking into a room would brighten our days, but the fact you chose to spend your time as close to us as possible, not asking for anything but the comfort of company in return was the biggest bonus. I miss you softly snoring beside me as I work, then jumping onto my lap and forcing me to type at contorted angles to accommodate you. Burying my whole face into your soft fur and your comforting smell. Your speckled nose. I miss the sound of you shouting about your latest ‘catch’ as you came to show it off- socks you’d hunt from any available washing basket or open suitcase- “thank you Ronnie!!”, we’d say each time. Our bedtime routine where we’d all snuggle up together- I’ll forgive you for loving Miguel more than me. Every patch of sunshine I see looks empty now you aren’t basking in it. Windowsills are bare where you should be sitting. We never took a moment with you for granted, but that’s why it’s so much harder to say goodbye, these moments with you were the best parts of our day. You were so special, you helped carry us through hard times, and you’ll be in my heart forever.

Meet Olive and Hugo, the owners of @glebehousedevon a truly wonderful home come guesthouse come restaurant come retreat come shop - is there anything this couple can’t do! I loved the way this place felt instantly like a home, all of its rooms decorated in the most welcoming joyous way. I spotted some of our textiles living their lives here too, always makes me so happy to see 🌸 I hope you’ll find the time to visit this beautiful corner of England at some point, but for now enjoy our Travelling Tale number five! @wishwishwish @sarahfranceskelley

Lisbon bits and bobs. Apparently I’m still charmed by the novelty of the yellow trams winding around beautifully lit cobbled streets. You won’t catch me crammed into one like a sardine though, I’ll be huffing and puffing up the hills in probably not very sensible footwear, keeping an eye out for the beautiful historic haberdashers, pharmacies and quiosques that Lisbon is still home to. We grabbed bifanas for lunch- if TikTok is anything to be believed, As Bifanas do Afonso is the place to go. This meant there was a queue when we arrived, so we reluctantly joined to see what the fuss was about. I’m certainly not new to bifanas, a cheap Portuguese staple of marinaded pork in a roll (add mustard to taste), so I was curious to see what the hype was about. No shade to Sr. Afonso, but it was simply that- a bifana equivalent to just about every other bifana I’ve eaten (minus the McBifana…😬). Certainly can’t knock it, but worth queuing for and sitting on a pavement edge to eat? Perhaps not if you can find another around the corner. Still, lunch for €3 isn’t bad.

I haven’t had a huge amount of time for much festive cheer this year, but I did manage to find myself with time to spare on a trip to London recently, so took myself on a tour of some of my favourites. 1-5 - I defy anyone that can walk into @choosingkeeping and not leave with a crisp paper bag full of things. A new pen for writing Christmas cards? Of course. Gold embossed cats? Absolutely. My little haul is in the first image. 6-10 - My first trip to the @matildagoad store, and what a treat. The matchbox covers have to be the best gift idea if you’re on the hunt for something last-minute. 11-12 - Dropped in on the wonderful @ifonlyifnightwear in their new space. Their pieces are all I want to wear for the next two weeks. 13 - Do not attempt to do 20k steps across London in a pair of shoes you haven’t worn in, even if you’ve embellished them with bows.

Hey! It’s been a while! Which is a shame, because creating for the sake of it brings me a lot of joy, even if it’s taking some silly self portraits. And I just haven’t found the time or energy to do that in a while. But as I sit on the train (I find myself working from a table seat on a GWR train more than my desk lately) on my way to a shoot, I thought I’d drop in. I’m sitting on a lot of photos from the last year (or two, if I’m being real) that for one reason or another never made it to Instagram- there was my birthday in August that I meant to share, and then bits from Christmas…I had the pictures ready to go, and then the moment passed. I think that backlog totally stifled me, but here I am, attempting to commit to sharing the moments that would be a shame not to acknowledge, both recent and almost distant memory. But first, those aforementioned silly self portraits. Oh, and a biggie- our new furry son, Basil. Despite not being able to see properly (he was born without proper eyelids), he’s a menace that enjoys grabbing my feet whilst I walk up the stairs, but balances it out with the longest cuddles, which I adore, even if he manages to position his entire body on my neck. He’ll be going for surgery on his eyes next week, so wish him all the luck 🍀

Hey! It’s been a while! Which is a shame, because creating for the sake of it brings me a lot of joy, even if it’s taking some silly self portraits. And I just haven’t found the time or energy to do that in a while. But as I sit on the train (I find myself working from a table seat on a GWR train more than my desk lately) on my way to a shoot, I thought I’d drop in. Last month we made our way to Wales to visit @little_mill_abergavenny, and I had a small pocket of time before the rest of the gang arrived, which I used as an excuse for a few quick snaps of this inspiring space. ad No longer living in London means I’ve been on the hunt for a new base whenever I visit, and the freshly opened @templeton.garden by @miirohotels may just be the answer. Its West London location makes arriving after the Somerset train a breeze (regular commuters with heavy suitcases will know how vital that is!), and I love that I’m still close to my old haunts. Location aside, the hotel itself is a dream. There’s even a “refresh room” to use for a shower before check-in, and the garden is so large you can almost forget you’re in busy central London while sipping a cocktail from @sprout.bar (complete with walls painted by my favourite, @tessnewallstudio, FYI). Morning sunshine pouring into my room plus a bubble bath overlooking the garden made it hard to leave, but I eventually peeled myself away for dinner at @pippinsrestaurant downstairs. In short: highly recommended— whether you’re visiting or you’re a Londoner just hunting for a new lunch spot

Just before the leaves started to turn and fall, we found ourselves at @craftsmanscabin for a short window of time whilst shooting something apple-y for the brilliant @ffern.co’s Autumn fragrance. We had a little time to spare whilst we waited for the sun to hit just the right spot on the horizon, so I pulled out my camera whilst Miguel sat in the chair reading. He’s become an expert at what he dubbed the “five minute holiday”, which consists of me dragging him along to a lovely location for a shoot and squeezing in moments of calm between busyness. Easily done here, rocking on the veranda. You’ll no doubt have a lot longer than 5 minutes calm if you ever visit this beautiful part of Somerset (they still have Christmas available— what a dream that would be!) 🌿
