He wasn’t just a weapon, he was the entire offense. From 2013 to 2018 he put up six straight 100 catch seasons, was the highest paid receiver in the league, and made Ben Roethlisberger look like an MVP every single year. Defenses knew exactly where the ball was going and still couldn’t stop him. That’s what made him so special. No receiver in that era combined his route running, his hands, his yards after the catch, and his consistency at the same level. He was doing things that receivers a full foot taller couldn’t do. History will always be complicated by everything that happened off the field — but when you pull up the tape from those Pittsburgh years, you’re watching one of the most complete receivers the NFL has ever seen.
