The trip: Oliver and his team were approved to officiate a match in the UAE on September 28, 2023, as a one-off arrangement.
The match: The game was between Sharjah and Al Ain, a 3-2 win for Al Ain.
The controversy: The trip, combined with a subsequent error by the VAR team (including England) in a Premier League match, raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
