Acting Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said the incident involved ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit and happened around 7 a.m. in the Landing section of the township. No injuries were reported. Witnesses said the incident occurred on Landing Road near the Lake Hopatcong Foundation building. A dashcam video posted online appears to show an officer pointing a gun at a man who had exited a pickup truck and was ordered to get on the ground. Davenport said the scene was secured with help from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and that the state’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability is conducting an independent investigation. The incident shut down Landing Road for much of the day and sparked widespread rumors online.
