He really does it all
We wanted to let you all know that this fall, Kevin will be stepping away from touring with The Steel Wheels. He has exciting news of his own he’ll share in time, but we are so happy to have a few months on the road to celebrate him and our time together. We first crossed paths with Kevin Garcia when The Steel Wheels played a festival in Ogden, UT in 2014. We took a long and beautiful hike with fewer supplies or planning than wisdom would recommend. Still, it cemented a sense of trust and joy in an uphill battle that we would eventually find in playing music together. We decided to shake up our stage show in 2017 by adding drums to The Steel Wheels. Kevin was our clear first choice and we haven’t looked back since. Kevin is one of the best musicians we’ve ever encountered. Off his drum throne he’s an easy hang, full of humor and wit. During the pandemic, Kevin mixed and mastered nearly 200 songs for our Everyone a Song projects and was the hub for our isolated music-making. His discipline and accomplishments in running are enough for their own separate post, but it’s safe to say Kevin is not standing still. His next adventures in the music business are bound to be full-tilt. We wish him the best and will miss his presence on and off the road. Kevin’s last performance with The Steel Wheels will be at the Porcupine Music Fest on Aug 28th. In the meantime, we are savoring every show we play together. We are looking forward to a very special Red Wing Roots Music Festival and summer tour, as we celebrate Kevin and his contributions to our music and our community.  Thank you, Kevin 🤍

As 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on more than just the past twelve months. This year also marked the 20th anniversary of The Steel Wheels; a milestone that still feels a little surreal. We began as a group of young guys brought together by a shared love of folk music and the community that naturally grows around it. Two decades later, those same roots continue to ground us, inspire us, and push us forward. To everyone who has supported us through the years, thank you. We’re grateful for every mile, every memory, and every moment, and we can’t wait for many more.
