Here’s what I did instead 👇🏼

I did a course on UGC and within 3 months I was making money…

UGC stands for user generated content and it is where you create content for brands and they post it onto THEIR socials so you don’t have to… it’s literally the biggest life hack that’s allowed me to travel and be completely free from the corporate 9-5

I create for travel an tech brands so I can do it from anywhere in the world.

I’m now making content 4 figures living in Asia ..

If I had to start my travel & tech UGC journey from scratch now, here’s exactly what I’d do:

1. Stop scrolling & start creating
Don’t wait for the perfect niche, camera, or strategy. Use your phone. Film 3 mock ads for brands you already love. Look at other UGC creators videos and see what they’re doing

2. Build a simple portfolio
6–9 strong videos - show yourself using and taking about everyday products and apps that you already use..

3. Pitch daily (even before you feel “ready”)
Search for small start up brands, reach out and show how you can add value to the brand by creating relatable everyday content for them

Volume + consistency = paid deals.

Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send you over a giant free guide I made to help you get started!

& follow @thesaltycreator for tips 🫡

How I went from broke hippie to 3k months 👇🏼

I was travelling through India when I started running out of money (fast). There was no WAY I could go back to the 9-5 so I needed to find a remote online way to make money.

here’s what I started doing 👇🏼

I saw some people starting to work with hotels with no following and gave it a go but I found it was largely exchange work and very time-consuming.

So I started reaching out to tech and travel brands instead - to see if they needed UGC content and it was like stumbling upon a goldmine: so many travel companies need real and authentic content, the kind that is literally sat on your iPhone right now …

So between this time last year and now I did three things:

1. I built a portfolio created specifically to attract tech and travel brands. I started with the content I had on my phone and the apps I already used

2. I started pitching like mad. I reached out to every tech and travel company I could find.

3. I learned how to make a high-converting ad for these brands and got good at using CapCut.

I am now living in Thailand and I’m filming in a villa that I didn’t even need to pay for ... 🫣😮‍💨

The past year has been hard work but I’d do it all over again 🤘🏼

I’m currently sat watching turtles swim whilst I have my lunch … (I used to force down a pret coffee and walk back to the office in the rain)

Start making those moves towards a life you want because it will always pay off. The only time you’re ever “too late” to something is when you don’t start - because then you will be too late 😜

A little over a year ago now I was in India volunteering on a yoga training when I realised I couldn’t give up this life…

Before this I had been working in corporate London and I was so depressed. I’d started a new job, signed a new lease with my partner, and 3 months in I just knew I had to leave - I was on the completely wrong path… and I felt so stuck. I felt like I was about to let everyone around me down and like I had totally failed. My social anxiety was through the roof, I didn’t recognise myself and I had lost my direction in life.

Little did I know this rock bottom was about to be the best thing that ever happened to me…

I decided to book a one way flight to India and volunteer on a yoga teacher training for 2 months. (My partner was insanely supportive considering I did a 180 on our entire life plan - he just encouraged me to go and follow my dreams and that we’d make it work🥹)

Within a few weeks of being in India I felt like me again. My spark had started to return and it was exactly where I was supposed to be.

But then reality sunk in that my money was running out fast and there was no way I was going back to the 9-5 city life 🤣 so I essentially had no choice but to make it work. There was no plan B.

I came across a girl doing UGC and it was the first online / remote way of making money that resonated with me and felt like something I could do. So I just went for it - I invested the last bit of money I had to learning all about UGC, and within 3 months I was making money… 😁

And even better I was finally doing something I loved - I got to be creative and learn to edit and get confident on camera. It all felt a little too good to be true.

And just over a year later of hard work, consistency, a lot of rejection and whole lotta leaving my comfort zone it paid off. I now make a full time income from UGC 🤯

If you want to get started - comment “guide” and I’ll send you my free guide with everything you need to know about UGC to get started ✨🌸

(also laughing at the fact I’m reading “a lost soul” in this) - couldn’t have been more true at the time 🤣😭

These are the exact steps I took to start UGC whilst travelling … because going home just wasn’t an option 😭😂

1️⃣ Chose the niche I was already living - travel (but also expanded to fintech and fitness app) - choose a niche but dont pigeon hole yourself too much!

2️⃣ Created content with what I had aka my iPhone and SO much travel content that was just sat there doing nothing (pick a few travel apps and create content for them with videos you already have)

3️⃣ Downloaded CapCut and then studied UGC creators + brand ads daily (what hooks, what sells)

4️⃣ Built a simple portfolio on canva

5️⃣ Pitched brands every day until one said yes!! And I mean EVERYDAY - once you get your first few bites from brands … it becomes addictive and you’ll never stop 😭😂♥️

Don’t wait for brands to come to you at the start, go out and find them!

Day 1 - Get specific with who you are targeting
“Tech UGC” is not a niche. AI tools, travel apps, fintech, eSIMs - pick one and commit.

Day 2 - Build your brand pitching list with AI
Paste this into Claude:

“I’m a UGC creator specialising in [travel apps / fintech / AI tools]. Give me 20 brands actively running UGC-style ads on Meta or TikTok. DTC-facing, strong app presence, launched post-2020. Table format: Brand Name | What They Do | Why They Need UGC | Best Way to Approach.”

You could pull up 20 brands in 10 minuets

Day 3 - Actually use the digital product you’re pitching to
A huge advantage of tech UGC is you can always try the product before pitching (90% of brands have a free trial) Find the one thing that actually impressed you… and that’s your opening line.

Day 4 - Meta Ad Library check
Search every brand. Running 8+ active ads? They have budget and they know UGC works. Those are your priority targets!

Day 5 - Find the best person to pitch
Not the general inbox- Apollo or Lusha email scrapping tools. Marketing manager, partnerships lead, head of growth. You can pitch to multiple people per brand

Day 6 - Send 10 pitches
Send a strong pitch with content ideas and explain how you can support - subject line “UGC content ideas for X”

Day 7 - watch those replies come in 🫡🫶🏼

This is a system you can run every single week that will guarantee you land brand deals

Comment PITCH and I’ll send you over my free guide 🌸🫶🏼

Okay story time 🫢🌴..

I spent my early 20s trying to live as free as I possibly could. There was a time the bag on my back was literally the only thing I owned.

I saw incredible places. Met incredible people. Managed yoga retreats across Europe, which i loved so much, it was the absolute dream for me.. as soon as I started to trust in my path, opportunities and doors just kept opening 👀

But I couldn’t shake this feeling that something was missing. And deep down I knew what it was.

I didn’t want to be a broke traveller that couldn’t afford nice things. I wanted to ACTUALLY live this life, not just survive it. I wanted money and financial freedom.

I used to say I didn’t want to work. Turns out I just hadn’t found the thing I was obsessed with 🤣

Now I want to work every single day. I wake up excited and that’s not something I thought I’d ever say about work.

I realised I just needed to get out of my own way. Stop listening to the people that tell you that you can’t have it all and that you need be realistic lol (you don’t. please be very unrealistic)

No one that is living a life you dream about was realistic in the beginning - they were bold, and they bet on themselves, and they believed that they were worthy of the future that they wanted.

100+ UGC videos later - retainers with the coolest brands that I love working with and connecting with other travelers through social media everyday. I’m feeling very blessed 🙌🏼🌸

If you’re in the stage of trying to move towards the things you love and feeling a little lost, keeping pushing through and keep taking those small steps towards it - the universe will meet you there

Comment “freedom” and I’ll send you over my free guide on everything you need to know about UGC if you’re interested in getting started 🌸🌴

After 4 years of travel I have finally decided it’s time .. I am DONE with carrying my entire life on my back.

The long walks in 35 degrees, the uphill 20 minute hike to the accommodation and waiting in a 50-minute boat queue with crippling back pain is actually all completely unnecessary... after first using this bag from @bagsmart_official last month it has not left my side since.

It has the straps for when you want to carry it, the wheels for when you can no longer be bothered and the perfect cute but sturdy packing cubes that don’t fall apart every time you cram too much in.

If you’re looking for a versatile bag that fits in the overhead locker, has both wheel and backpack options and looks nice ..

This might be controversial but I’ve never done a gifted collab and here’s the main reason why..

I work with tech brands and digital products which I already have access to on my phone … so I leaned into what I already had.

I focused on:
• Practicing with apps I actually use daily
• Studying high-performing ads from top creators (I found 3 creators who’s style I loved and took inspo from them)
• Improving my content over and over again - tweaking the videos and learning how to tell stories

I prioritised learning how to make converting ads rather than accepting gifted and exchange collabs and making myself super busy with unpaid work.

If you create videos with apps you already have, you don’t have the pressure on you to deliver and you have lots of time to keep improving the videos and perfecting your style.

I prioritised my pitching, editing and scripting skills so that when it was time to work with brands, I felt confident I could make a converting video and I was ready to charge!

I think exchange/ gifted work does have a place if you’ll genuinely benefit from the product - but don’t make yourself too busy and start prioritising the wrong things! UGC is all about managing your time to be the most efficient you can be

Value your work! ✨🌸

Every month in UGC looks different .. but here is an idea of what a remote UGC creator earns (16 months in)…

March was one of my busiest months so far - with some new clients & stepping into coaching ..which has been so fun and fulfilling!!

Incomes across social media can vary so much so I thought it would be cool to track my income on here this year because I love it when other creators do this and i think it’s so helpful to have an idea of what people are charging in this industry (which at times feels so inconsistent and random 😅)

It took me about 10 months to start seeing decent and consistent months - and the year mark was when I felt a real shift in my business.

I used to doubt myself so much when I started, and now I pinch myself everyday that it’s actually working .. I think I’m actually doing what I said I would do?? 😩🥺

UGC is the best thing everrr what do you mean I can run my own business and live in Thailand and be freeeee 🦋

I used to doubt myself so much when I started, and now I pinch myself everyday that it’s actually working .. I think I’m actually doing what I said I would do?? 😩🥺 UGC is the best thing everrr what do you mean I can run my own business and live in Thailand and be freeeee 🦋 [travel UGC creator, tech UGC creator, travel content creator, tech content creator, hotel collaborations, travel apps, remote work setup, digital nomad creator, UGC pitching tips, brand partnerships, UGC for beginners, user generated content, content marketing, marketing strategy]
I was actually living in a tent ..

I was in the north of Tenerife managing a 23 person yoga teacher training, balancing two jobs I when I checked my emails ... and realised I could continue traveling.. this brand deal would cover my travel expense for the next 6 months (this deal is literally what kick started my UGC career and made me believe in myself)

A retainer is a long term deal with a brand - it’s what you should be aiming for to create a stable income, and not starting from O every single month.

I had pitched every single day for weeks up until this moment - landing a retainer is never luck, it’s all about hard work, consistency, showing up when it’s hard and doing the work you said you were going to do.

I do miss my tent and this magical little garden though 🧚🏼

I rely on brand deals for 100% of my income - so here are some slightly unhinged things I do to avoid quiet months and burn out 👇🏼

1. I have a realistic pitching system that I stick to every week. Rather than panic pitching to 100+ brands at once and then never pitching again, I have realistic pitching goals that I hit every week

2. I know that days can get distracting when travelling - the beach is close, I need to move accommodation, I want to go and explore - so I wake up early every morning and start work at 6ish. I then know I can do a full work day but still have my afternoons 🌞

3. I am a crazy tracker … if I’m reaching out to brands / working with brands - everything is tracked. I know who I need to follow up with and when (I get a lot of work off the back of my tracking systems)

4. I try to speak to every brand I work with over a call

5. I read a lot of spiritual and business books. The more you can understand and get in the mindset of you person you want to become the better 😁 (currently reading becoming super natural… 🤯 - how have I never read this before?!)

Advice to the girlies who are afraid to start posting…

I was literally terrified to start posting on social media. It was a huge block for me. I over thought everything, I was lacking in confidence and I was so scared people I know would see and judge me 👀

Some things I did to help:

1. I blocked everyone who followed me on my personal account whilst I found my confidence with it… this might seem extreme but in any other job your friends and family don’t watch you learn. It’s just extra pressure that you don’t need at the start!

2. Your first 0-50 posts are just experiments - they are not supposed to perform. They’re experience, practice and data so you can start refining what you like to post, how to improve and how to work the algorithm 👀🤘🏼 so chill.

3. Social media isn’t going anywhere and if you ever want to start your own business these days you’re going to want a social media following. It’s literally a fast track to a sustainable profitable business … viewing it like this has really helped me step into it

4. People are never judging you like you think they are .. it’s mostly in your head! And if they are it’s literally not your problem it’s theirs 🤷🏼‍♀️ my friend’s reactions were actually the cutest when I unblocked them 😂

Oh and happy international women’s day to all of the incredible women out there!! 🌸🫶🏼

April you were 🔥

I feel like I blinked and the month literally flew by but one of my best months in UGC so far.

Getting to work with the coolest digital platforms and start ups that allow me to be creative in my job everyday is something I had no idea how much I needed.

One thing I knew for sure when I worked in corporate was that there was a huge creative hole that needed filling but it wasn’t until I started working in content I realised just how fulfilling the creative side would be

Feeling v grateful for everything in my life rn🙏🌸

Ps if u saw me post this and cut off half the slides and not actually share my income then no u didnt x

It will work out because there is no other option 🤷🏼‍♀️🤪

After two years of travelling I realised I couldn’t go home and return to the 9-5, so I started UGC. And after just 6 months I was making enough to sustain my travels full time with less than 1000 followers

UGC is the biggest life hack if you want to work remotely, travel and work for yourself 🌈🌴🦋🌏

This impulsive farmhouse reno isn’t going to pay for itself 🫦

Four years ago I made myself a promise.. and then I spent four years wondering how the hell I’d ever hit £100k again 😅

But obviously a promise to my younger self is not optional - so
I’m doing it out loud…

I’m giving myself 8 months to fulfill this promise to baby char who was so lost and confused but was just trusting in a little internal whisper telling her to follow what she loves. and it bought me to a place that’s better than i could have ever imagined.

so now feels like the perfect time to chase that goal. 8 months. let’s go

Follow along @thesaltycreator to see if we can make it 🥲🥹

Here’s what I actually started doing first 👇🏼🌸

No days off when it came to pitching. It was never “I’ll pitch when I feel ready.” Or “I’ll wait for brands to find me”.

Once I was set up with my portfolio - I pitched every single day. That consistency was 1000% why I built this as quickly as I did.

I built a system and stuck to it... rather than doing big sprints of
pitching and then burning out and stopping - I realised that a boring reliable system beats an unsustainable sprint every time

My portfolio highlighted my strengths, and I went deep on one niche. Travel and tech. I learnt what hooks worked in that space, what made a great ad, what brands in that world actually needed... and I became genuinely useful to them.

That’s it. No secret. Just those things, consistently.

If you want to know exactly how to start, comment GUIDE below and I’ll send you the free guide I wrote to help you get started 🌸🫶🏼
