It’s been a full week since I became free! Last Thursday, I received that TEXT informing me of my mother’s passing. I don’t know what I expected, but a text sure wasn’t it. Apparently my Mom passed away two days earlier. I choose to stay silent while they were alive to be the better person. But that silence only protected her! I refuse to protect her anymore! When I was only 13/14 years old, my mother faked a su!cide note in my name to get me admitted to a secure facility. A facility that later was taken to court by the government! (You can Google this one!) Shortly after my stay, she put me in foster care claiming that I was a criminal and very troubled teen. (Despite everyone else disagreeing). And then, when my first baby was born, my mother kidnapped him, and tried to convince people that I was neglecting and abusing him. It took me almost 2 months to get my baby back. A week ago, my mother died. And I am now free from her. It’s a weird feeling. My mom died. And I’m definitely in mourning. But not in a way I’ve mourned before. It’s a “dead inside” feeling. It’s telling people that she’s dead, but people not knowing how to respond to my “unusual” response. It’s not receiving flowers or cards in the mail. It’s trying to explain to my husband and children that my mom is dead, and that while it’s a loss, it’s a “freeing” feeling. Anyway… to her spouse who texted me….. 🖕*%* you! I am a SURVIVOR. And I will NOT pretend that the abuse I endured did not happen. My childhood experiences are not something I intend to keep secret or private! #SurvivalStory #StoryTime

Canada is built different. But even though we are more prepared for this type of weather, those deep freezers are painful and truly can be dangerous! Suggestions from a well prepared Canadian: 1. There is NO such thing as too many blankets 2. Stock up on water like you should have stocked up on toilet paper IYKYK 3. If the power does go out, TURN OFF YOUR WATER and then let the taps all empty out. This prevents your pipes from freezing and going boom 4. Batteries! And lots! For flashlights, your cell etc 5. Make sure your car tank is FULL of gas 6. Have cash on you 7. Canned goods, can opener, bread and peanut butter will keep you fed if the power goes out. 8. Check on your neighbors! Especially the elderly or the folks who live alone And lastly, for the love of god, do NOT bring a gas powered generator in to your house. You won’t see the sun rise in the morning. They’re “those kids.” They’re the kids who are often labeled “rude” or “entitled”. They’re the kids who’s parents often receive a lot of hate due to their “poor parenting.” However, they’re the kids who see the world differently. They experience the world differently.
