After highlighting some top Olden Tymee and International sandwiches from 2025 in the last two vids, today we look at the failures. Yes, it’s the Top 5 Worst Sandwiches of 2025 on Sandwiches of History. When I went back and reviewed the data from this year’s video I was surprised to not have given a zeroes. But that is due to me leaning on the half point a lot. I guess I figure it’s all food and therefore has to really be just god-awful to the point you wouldn’t touch it even if you were starving (which is probably a pretty high bar tbh). Enjoy? I’ve long resisted the call to do a sandwich based off of a comedians joke. Not because I don’t think they’re funny but because the sandwich is never intended to be eaten. After all, it was a joke. So I was not gonna make the late great comedian Mitch Hedberg’s Pastrami, Cottage Cheese, and Banana Bread Sandwich. But, someone in the comments said they’d donate $100 to a charity of my choice if I did by day 100 so I thought, why not? Not only that, I am going to match that donation and have both go to Feeding America which helps get food to folks who desperately need it. So, over on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he frequently subjects stars who are on the show to the Colbert Questionert. The first question is What’s the best sandwich? Some answers earnestly if not plainly. Some, like the great Will Farrell, are clearly joking around. Well, the other night actor/writer/director Jeff Daniels was on. For International Sandwich Sunday we are headed across the pond to England, more specifically, Hull. Yes, it’s the Pattie Buttie which apparently was created as a low cost alternative to fried fish during lean times. This nap inducer of a sandwich is tasty but heavy. Yes, I do accidentally say “The 1,000 Fabulous Recipes” instead of the actual name of the book The 1,000 Fabulous Sandwiches. D’oh! At any rate 1965 has us making the Hot ’n’ Crisp Sardine Sandwich which is not heated nor crispy. Go figure. At least it does have sardines? Today’s sandwich of “our history” comes to us courtesy of Phil and Phil’s grandma Theresa. Hot Dogs in Red Gravy Sandwich is a mash up meatballs in red gravy and hot dogs. But what’s interesting about this recipe is that she has us build flavor as we go along unlike a lot of older recipes.
