After highlighting some top Olden Tymee and International sandwiches from 2025 in the last two vids, today we look at the failures. Yes, it’s the Top 5 Worst Sandwiches of 2025 on Sandwiches of History. When I went back and reviewed the data from this year’s video I was surprised to not have given a zeroes. But that is due to me leaning on the half point a lot. I guess I figure it’s all food and therefore has to really be just god-awful to the point you wouldn’t touch it even if you were starving (which is probably a pretty high bar tbh). Enjoy? I’ve long resisted the call to do a sandwich based off of a comedians joke. Not because I don’t think they’re funny but because the sandwich is never intended to be eaten. After all, it was a joke. So I was not gonna make the late great comedian Mitch Hedberg’s Pastrami, Cottage Cheese, and Banana Bread Sandwich. So, over on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he frequently subjects stars who are on the show to the Colbert Questionert. The first question is What’s the best sandwich? Ahoy, matey! Today we be makin’ the Shrimp Boat Sandwich from 1959. This recipe comes to us courtesy to The Call, a now-defunct newspaper from Schuylkill haven, Pennsylvania. It is an interesting sandwich in that it is called the Shrimp Boat Sandwich yet contains as much if not more canned tuna as shrimp. Yes, it’s the Pattie Buttie which apparently was created as a low cost alternative to fried fish during lean times. This nap inducer of a sandwich is tasty but heavy. One thing I failed to include was the Chip Shop Seasoning so I may have to revisit this. My scale will not be happy. One more orbit around the sun has transpired for yours truly and, as is tradition for my birthday here on Sandwiches of History, I’m making a sandwich just because I want to. For the past 4 years I’ve made The Tomato (twice), The Bologna, and The Collard Melt, all of which are fantastic sandwiches from the cookbook, Turkey and The Wolf: Flavor Trippin’ In New Orleans. Well, this year I am ending that run because I’m doing a Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich…from Chef Mason Hereford…of Turkey and The Wolf. This was published in Garden & Gun Magazine thought, and not in Turkey and The Wolf: Flavor Trippin’ In New Orleans. I know it may be tempting but do not do a shot every time I say “now” or “alright.” You’ll be a goner before the vids done. For the past 4 years I’ve made The Tomato (twice), The Bologna, and The Collard Melt, all of which are fantastic sandwiches from the cookbook, Turkey and The Wolf: Flavor Trippin’ In New Orleans. Well, this year I am ending that run because I’m doing a Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich…from Chef Mason Hereford…of Turkey and The Wolf. This was published in Garden & Gun Magazine thought, and not in Turkey and The Wolf: Flavor Trippin’ In New Orleans. I know it may be tempting but do not do a shot every time I say “now” or “alright.” You’ll be a goner before the vids done.
