Real fall leaves are beautiful—and did you know you can preserve them with Gloss Mod Podge?

Coat one side, let it dry for about 30 minutes, flip it over, and coat the other side. It preserves the color and shape while keeping the leaves bendable and movable.

Turn them into garlands, ornaments, or use them throughout your fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving decor without them crumbling, curling up, or turning brown. #leaves #trees #fall #decor #craft

Colored lampshade upcycle - My first upcycled lampshade using decals on the inside completely went viral and so many of you kept saying… “Okay but what if you tried one with color?” So challenge accepted… 🤗
This time I went full floral with it and thought these whimsical flowers were just asking for a little color. Instead of pulling out messy paint and it dripping everywhere I grabbed my acrylic paint markers and they ended up being absolutely perfect for filling in between all of the black decal outlines.

It was simple, relaxing, and so fun watching it all come to life. And I have to admit… adding color gave this lampshade such a different look and feel from my first black-and-white version. Same idea, completely different vibe, and I’m kind of loving both for totally different reasons👍🏻 #diy #lamp #decor #lights #art

Come upcycle a plain, ordinary lamp with me. I had this extra lamp and lampshade sitting around and instead of buying something new, I decided to try a little DIY twist. I added decals to the inside of the shade—and when the light turns on, they softly glow through… and WOW, I was not expecting it to look this good. Such a simple, budget-friendly hack that instantly makes a lamp feel custom, styled, and high-end. Now I’m officially obsessed and eyeing every lampshade in my house to do it again 🤭
Proof you don’t need new—just a little creativity #diy #lamp #decor #lights #art

Comment LINK for the stickers I used for both of these lamp shades.

Customize your lamp in minutes with clear-backed stickers—no paint, no permanent changes, and no need to buy a new lamp. Whether you’re decorating a baby’s nursery, home office, bedroom, college dorm, or creating a space that matches your favorite colors and style, this is one of the easiest DIY home décor upgrades.

I chose two of my favorites—flowers and butterflies—to give a plain hard plastic lampshade an instant custom look. And when you’re ready for a new vibe, simply peel the stickers off and start again.

✨ Important: Always use an LED light bulb. LED bulbs stay much cooler than traditional incandescent bulbs, so you don’t have to worry about the stickers melting, burning, or creating a fire hazard from normal lamp use. I’ve had mine on my lamps for months, and they’ve held up beautifully.

Save this easy DIY for your next room refresh!

I’ve had a bunch of white pumpkins, and I decided to spray-paint them black to give them a new look for another season. For this one, I added a few ghost faces using lightweight spackle.

It was such a simple makeover and a great way to reuse something I already had instead of buying new. Nothing that a little spray paint and imagination can’t fix! #pumpkin #ghost #halloween #craft #kids

Comment BOO for the links to supplies I used — Insulation Foam Halloween Garland - Ghost Garland, Pumpkin Garland, Love throwing the rules out the window when it comes to some craft supplies. 😂 If my brain has an idea, I’m going to try it—even if the products I’m reaching for were never intended to be used that way!

That’s exactly what happened with this Halloween garland. I used silicone molds and insulation foam in two very unconventional ways, and I couldn’t be happier with how these little pieces turned out! I’m loving the retro vintage vibe, especially keeping them black and white with just a touch of gold to make the details pop.

Eventually, this string garland will make its way to my fireplace once I get all of my Halloween decorating finished, and I think it’s going to be SO cute!

Craft supplies, art supplies, random products… I say use them however your creative brain tells you to. There are no rules when it comes to creating! #diy #handmade #crafts #home #insulation

Started with air-dry crayola clay, heart shaped cookie cutters, letting them dry on a paper plate to create the perfect curved shape. I painted them crimson and white with acrylic paint, added gold pin trim on the smooth edges for extra pop and pizzazz, then removed the glass from a budget frame and glued the hearts directly onto the mat for a fun 3D pop-out effect. I love putting a creative spin on DIY crafts, turning simple supplies into personalized home decor and a work of art with lots of beauty and character. #art #valentines #handmade #artist #décor

Make miniature vintage frames with hot wax - While I’m slowly collecting real vintage frames one thrift trip at a time for the gallery wall I dream about in my house, I thought it would be fun to create a tiny version first. I used vintage style wax sticks and colored hot glue sticks with silicone frame molds in all different styles and sizes to make these miniature frames feel old and collected. A little gold leaf Rub ’n Buff brought out all the vintage charm, and I added floral art prints in some while letting real dried flowers pop out of others for extra texture, depth and dimension. Now this little piece feels like my own tiny wall of inspiration until I finally collect enough vintage frames for the real thing. #vintagehome #dollhouse #handmade #diy #art

Designer Dupes - comment FLOWER for a link to the supplies I used — I was inspired by some mini white floral vase designs I saw online… but not for those prices. So I figured—why not try it myself? I pressed the clay straight into silicone molds, popped them out seconds later, and every tiny detail held perfectly. No waiting, no fuss. Let them dry overnight and they’re ready to go. I grabbed a gold paint pen to highlight the features and turned a few thrifted vases (one of my favorite things to collect for a couple bucks) into the cutest little vase accents. This would be such a fun craft night idea—prep a bunch of these flowers ahead of time, then have everyone bring a vase, jar, or trinket box. Just paint the flowers, glue, and create something totally custom🌸🌺🌼

Easy, budget-friendly, and way cuter than anything I could have purchased. #diy #decor #handmade #thriftedstyle

I guess I BROKE the teacup rules… Some things are just too special to be tucked away in a cabinet.

All my teacups have been gifted to me over the years from my mom, my grandmothers, and some friends… each one holding a little piece of someone I love.

I had already styled my saucers on my mantle (see in a previous reel) for spring with all the florals and color, but they just didn’t feel complete without their matching teacups. They belong together…

I gave them a fun purpose by adding in a bit of greenery with small succulents and letting them be part of the decor instead of something saved for “someday.”

Tell me… are you using your sentimental pieces in your home, or are they still waiting for their turn?

A vintage pink rose bath towel, a simple sewing project, and the cutest summer tote. 🌸☀️

I turned this thrifted towel inside out, stitched both sides, added boxed corners for a finished shape, and hand-sewed wooden handles with extra-thick thread so it could hold all the beach-day essentials. The result? A cute little upcycle with all the vintage poolside charm.
You can make one with any towel—thrifted, vintage, well-loved from home, or brand new. There are so many towels in thrift store and I am always looking for special ones. Such a fun and easy DIY for summertime. Follow along for more creative ideas and inspiration. #sewing #diy #summer #craft #handmade

After loving the faux velvet ornaments we shared last week, I decided to try the same technique on a few picture frames. I used wet paint mixed with baking soda to create that soft, velvety texture, and once it dried, I added a little Rub ’n Buff to the edges for a beautiful antique finish.

I popped in some favorite photos, and they turned out fantastic. I love when one craft inspires another—simple, handmade details that add character to our home. I hope you give it a try. #diy #velvet #rootedliving #craft #frames

Comment HAT for the supplies to make your own (on Instagram) — Faux Patchwork Quilt Halloween Trucker Hat — I had a bunch of leftover Halloween fabric and wanted to find another way to use it, so I thought I would show you guys my faux patchwork quilt method on a trucker hat.

I cut most of my pieces into 1” x 1” squares and started layering them with Matte Mod Podge, cutting some pieces smaller when I needed them to fit along the edges. And that’s the beauty of patchwork — the pieces don’t have to be perfect or symmetrical. Those little imperfections are what make it look like patch work.

I used regular Mod Podge since I won’t be washing this hat, but if you want yours to be washable or spot-cleanable, I’d recommend Fabric Mod Podge.

Once everything was dry, I went back in with a black paint pen and added little stitches to each square. This step is so worth it because it really makes the whole patchwork look come together.

I’m a hat person, and this one is definitely going to be getting a lot of wear all October. I love how it turned out! #handmade #craft #hat #halloween #diy

Antique Booth Rule number 1 (a little observation from my thrifting adventures yesterday) If you’re flipping a piece from TJ Maxx… maybe remove the $14.99 price tag before pricing it at $42 and calling it “vintage inspired.” When I was out thrifting at a few spots yesterday, I spotted this copper pot that still had the TJ Maxx tag waving hello. Listen, I respect the flip game — everyone deserves to make a little profit. But people are out here treasure hunting for good deals. Honestly, when I walk by a booth and the prices feel fair and reasonable, I’m way more likely to grab two or three things. But when everything feels outrageously priced, I usually just keep walking to the next booth. Are you thrifters with me on this or do you feel differently? Let me know. #thrift #thriftshop #upcycle #thriftfinds #thrifty

Comment GUIDE for a free step-by-step guide to make your own bag — I DIY’d a simple kitchen towel into a little clutch bag, makeup bag, or toiletry bag

I used a 28 x 18½-inch cotton kitchen towel, but the fun part is choosing your towel! Pick one in your favorite color, a seasonal print, or a themed towel.

Bridal, bachelorette or birthday party: make one for each of your guests and fill them with little goodies!

Makeup or toiletry bag: because you can never have too many little bags!

And if you don’t have a sewing machine, no worries! You can absolutely hand-stitch this project. Just make sure your stitches are nice and tight and secure.

One tip I definitely recommend: use a sturdier towel material. Mine was cotton, but something like a burlap or heavier-weight towel would work beautifully. The sturdier the fabric, the better your little bag will hold its shape. A very soft or thin towel may not give you that same structured look.

Such a great upcycled DIY project that will give you years of use.
